Days 9 - 10: Olare Motorogi Conservancy

The Olare Motorogi Conservancy is reputed to have the lowest vehicle density in the Maasai Mara region while also having the highest concentration of big cats anywhere in Africa. The hills are the year-round home to a remarkably diverse population of giraffes, wildebeests, warthogs and zebras. Naturally having these herbivores around in large numbers also makes the area more than a little attractive to predators. The conservancy is immensely popular among lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, leopards and other meat eaters. The ‘luggas’ (small seasonal streams) that run through the conservancy’s hills are lined by beautiful green strips of forest. The vegetation attracts a variety of leaf-eaters such as elephants, baboons, buffaloes and hippos.

The camp is a sanctuary for resident wildlife species, including many of the Maasai Mara’s 300 bird species. After dark, larger mammals frequent the camp, and Maasai warriors escort you to and from your rooms. Hippos snorting and leopards barking often provide the night’s chorus.

At Mara Plains the safari experience is intimate and personal, so there is no set camp schedule or set mealtimes. Your preferences and wildlife opportunities of the moment tailor the day’s activities and dining arrangements.

You sepdn two days exploring the Masai Mara and surrounding areas.
