Days 1 - 2: Melbourne

Explore the city of Melbourne with its wide boulevards and fine historic buildings. Pay a visit to Bourke Street Mall and the tree-lined beauty of Collins Street, the ultimate shopping strip and business centre. There are fine examples of Melbourne's architectural splendour, including St. Paul's Cathedral, Princess and Regent Theatres. Stop by Melbourne Town Hall, the Royal Exhibition Buildings and Federation Square. Stroll around Melbourne's spectacular Royal Botanic Gardens and the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens. Explore Captain Cook's Cottage (optional). Visit the bustling Queen Victoria Market and tranquil Albert Park Lake. Pay tribute to the soldiers of war at the historic Shrine of Remembrance and explore Southbank a world of waterfront shopping, dining and arts; incorporating the Southgate Arts and Leisure Precinct and Crown Entertainment Complex.

Day 3: Circular Quay

Today you will fly to Sydney where you have the afternoon at leisure to explore the surroundings of your hotel.

The Historic Sydney Walking Tour brings alive the story of the early convict settlement, while entertaining visitors with stories of "Rascals, Rats, and Restoration". The tours are conducted by friendly and enthusiastic guides who, by relating the many tales of Australia's colourful past, capture and hold the visitor's imagination.

Travel through the historic Rocks district and Chinatown. Stop at Mrs. Macquarie's Chair in the Royal Botanic Gardens, for a panoramic view of the Sydney Opera House and the harbour. At the Gap, the entrance of Sydney Harbour, see breathtaking views of the coast. At Bondi Beach wander the shoreline and dip your toes in the cool clear water, you can choose on the day to end your tour in Bondi (and make your own way back to your hotel at own expense) or re-join the coach and return to the city.

Let your guide show you some of Sydney's earliest buildings, shops, old and new, homes of the "well-to-do" and the quaint cottages of the working class. Still to be seen are the pubs and hotels, once frequented by the locals and sailors alike, and the haunts of larrikins and rogues. The many historic streets, narrow alleyways, cobbled lanes, sandstone steps, and beautiful churches combine to weave a rich tapestry of life in the past and present times.

Day 5: Circular Quay

Harbour Express Cruise plus Zoo

This 1 1/2 hour round trip cruise departs every 45 minutes from Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. The cruise takes in all the sights of Sydney Harbour including Taronga Zoo, Watsons Bay, The Rocks and Darling Harbour. Stop off at any attraction and re-board the next Explorer throughout the day with your all day ticket. Your pass includes a cruise to Taronga Zoo from Darling Harbour or Circular Quay, entry to Taronga Zoo, and Sky Safari cable car. Plus, when your visit to the Zoo is complete you will enjoy a return cruise back to Darling Harbour or Circular Quay. Taronga Zoo is open from 9am to 5pm daily.

Day 6: Yulara

Travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta. On the way, stop at a lookout for panoramic views the southern side of Kata Tjuta. Continue on before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend sometime exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. In the late afternoon travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness and photograph the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset whilst enjoying nibbles and a glass of wine.

Day 7: Watarrka National Park

Rise early this morning to travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area, Talinguru Nyakunytjaku. Watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee and biscuits. After watching the sunrise you will join your AAT Kings Driver Guide for a tour around the base of Uluru. Travel by coach to the Mutitjulu Walk where you will be escorted to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the area as your Driver Guide indicates some native flora and explains the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Visit the Uluru, Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, where you can learn about Aboriginal culture and see Aboriginal arts and crafts, before returning to your hotel. On days when the Uluru Climb is open, those with a good level of fitness will have the opportunity to climb Uluru as an alternative to the Uluru Base Tour.

Travel through spectacular desert scenery to Kings Canyon Resort by luxury coach. Pass through Curtin Springs and view Atila (Mt. Conner). After turning off the Lasseter Highway and onto Luritja Road your Driver/Guide will provide informative commentary about the history of the surrounding cattle stations. Arrive at Kings Canyon Resort before dusk. You may have time to view the sun set behind Carmichaels Crag to finish off the day.

Day 8: Alice Springs

Travel through beautiful desert landscapes from Kings Canyon Resort to Alice Springs by luxury coach. Stop at Mt. Ebenezer Roadhouse for the opportunity to purchase afternoon tea (own expense). Take a wander through the Aboriginal Art Gallery to see some locally made craft. Continue on to Alice Springs along the Stuart Highway, as the sun sets in the west over the rugged plains.

Day 9: Cairns

Today you will fly to Cairns where you have the afternoon at leisure to explore the surroundings of your hotel.

Day 10: Cairns

For an experience of a lifetime, Quicksilver's wave piercing catamarans and friendly crew will take you to a reef at the very edge of Australia's Continental Shelf, to an underwater world that is a dazzling kaleidoscope of colour and brilliance. Agincourt Reef is a magnificent ribbon reef where you can experience first-hand the magic that is the Great Barrier Reef. Choose to dive (extra cost), snorkel, or stay dry and explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a semi-sub, just one metre underwater. Watch the fish feeding from a unique underwater viewing platform and underwater observatory, or fly in a helicopter over the reef (extra cost). Whichever way you choose; you'll bring home a lifetime of memories from this living natural wonder.

Day 11: Cairns

The Classic Kuranda Experience includes the main attractions of Kuranda, but gives you more free time to explore Kuranda. You will travel to Kuranda by scenic railway and then spend some free time in the village. Wander through the many shops and local markets, which offer a full range of local handicrafts, souvenirs, and gifts.

You will then be transferred to Rainforestation Nature Park, where you will enjoy a delicious Australian BBQ lunch, a guided tour of the rainforest on board an amphibious Army Duck, and the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dance performance, followed by the Dreamtime Walk. You will learn how to throw a boomerang, see a spear-throwing demonstrations, and learn about aboriginal culture.

A guided tour of the Koala and Wildlife Park will commence at the Cultural Centre. Your coach will then transfer you to Kuranda Skyrail Terminal for the 7.5 kilometre Skyrail journey down the mountain. Your coach will then return you to your accommodation.

Day 12: End of Itinerary

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
