Day 1: Stormsriver

Arrive in Port Elizabeth, self-drive to Storms River Village (170km, approx. 2 hours' drive) 

On arrival in Port Elizabeth collect your rental vehicle and head off along the Garden Route to Storms River, a quaint little village set in the heart of the forests and in the foothills of the majestic Tsitsikamma mountain range.

Day 2: Stormsriver

Tsitsikamma Zip Lining Canopy Tour, Visit Tsitsikamma National Park & Kayak and Lilo Adventure, optional bungee jump

A day filled with action and adventure, enjoy a a zip lining tour through the ancient forests followed by a kayak and lilo excursion up the Storms River Gorge from Tsitsikamma National Park. The really brave ones have the option of doing the World's Highest Bungee Jump from the Bloukrans Bridge!

Day 3: Knysna

Tsitsikamma to Knysna via Plettenberg Bay (95km) - Marine Eco Boat Excursion & Robberg Nature Reserve Hike

Continue along the Garden Route with a stop in Plettenberg Bay to enjoy a Marine Encounter boat trip to see Cape Fur Seals, Dolphins and Whales (May to November). Enjoy a walk/hike on the beautiful Robberg Peninsula. Continue to Knysna where you will check in at your accommodation tucked away in a beautiful valley on the banks of the Goukamma River.

Day 4: Knysna

Knysna: Featherbed Eco Experience, Stand-Up Paddling on the Knysna Estuary and Champagne Sunset Sail

The day starts with a Featherbed Nature Reserve Eco Experience and lunch.

In the afternoon a unique opportunity to try some stand-up paddling and explore the waterways of Thesen Island and the Knysna Estuary. In the evening enjoy a relaxing 2 ½ hour cruise on the Knysna Lagoon and out into the Indian ocean with catering and a complimentary glass of South African bubbly.

Day 5: Oudtshoorn

Knysna to Oudtshoorn (120km, approximately 2 hours drive) Cango Caves tour and Ostrich Farm visit

Today travel over the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn. Enjoy either a standard or an adventure tour in the Cango Caves. Visit an ostrich farm for a tour to learn more about these birds and their farming in the area.

Enjoy the afternoon at leisure at your accommodation, situated on a working ostrich farm. Enjoy a leisurely scenic walk through the property and in the evening you can enjoy some of the best star gazing.

Day 6: Oudtshoorn

Swartberg Mountains & Prince Albert Full-Day Eco and Khoi Cultural Tour

This tour will take you on a trip to the top of the Swartberg Pass, where you can enjoy a short hike in the reserve, and then descend the pass into the pretty little town of Prince Albert for lunch. The tour continues to a waterfall on the Meiringspoort Pass and then back to Oudtshoorn via the Little Karoo village of De Rust.

Day 7: Hermanus

Oudtshoorn to Hermanus (365km, 5 hours drive)

Those who are prepared to wake up early this morning can join an optional Meerkat Safari, which takes place at sunrise. After a leisurely morning and breakfast take a slow drive fralong Route 62 to Hermanus, stopping along the way to see and explore. On arrival in Hermanus enjoy a cliff top walk looking out for whales (May-November).

Your guesthouse is only 2 minutes away from the Blue Flag Grotto Beach, and offers beautiful ocean and mountain views.

Day 8: Cape Town

Shark Cage Diving and Dune Fat Bike Tour, Gansbaai to Cape Town (170km, approximately 2.5 hours drive)

An early start to the day for your shark cage diving experience. This will be followed by an awesome fat bike excursion - a 6km mostly downhill tour on pristine and secluded sand dunes with the most amazing ocean views to be seen in the Cape. 

After this exciting and fun filled day you will travel to Cape Town in the afternoon. Check-in at your hotel and if there's time take a leisurely sunset stroll with the locals on the Sea Point Promenade.

Day 9: Cape Town

Lion's Head Hike, Table Mountain via cableway and City Cycle Tour

Experience 2 of Cape Town's peaks - challenge yourself to a guided hike up Lion's Head (either early in the morning or at sunset) and a cableway ride to the top of Table Mountain. In the afternoon get to know a bit more about Cape Town's rich history and heritage on a cycling tour through the city. 

In the evening explore the V&A Waterfront, which offers an abundance of restaurants, bars, entertainment, shops, markets, attractions and activities. 

Day 10: Cape Town

Snorkel with Seals and Explore the Cape Peninsula

This morning you will get to meet Cape Fur Seals... nose to nose! Plunge into the kelp forest and snorkel with hundreds of curious Cape Fur seals, in the wild! On return to the dive centre you can have a hot shower before heading off on your self-drive exploration of the scenic Cape Peninsula.

Drive over Chapman's Peak, one of the world most beautiful roads, and around the peninsula to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope (most south western point of Africa). Walk up to the top lighthouse and down to the lower lighthouse and take a classic photo at the Cape of Good Hope sign board. Exit the reserve and your next stop will be Boulders Beach where you will meet the comical African Penguins. Drive back along the False Bay coast passing through Kalk Bay, St James and Muizenberg - known for its colourful beach huts. In the hotter summer months we can highly recommend a dip in one of the many popular tidal pools along the coast.

Day 11: Cape Town

Full day at leisure for optional activities

Today you will enjoy a full day at leisure to relax and enjoy some down time or to take part in some of the other exciting activities on offer in and around Cape Town, below are a few, of many, many ideas! 

Optional Activities (at an additional cost):

  • Full or half day tour of the Cape Winelands or Constantia Winelands
  • A Big Five day Safari to Aquila Private Game Reserve – options to include a horse riding or quad bike safari
  • Visit to the lively V&A Waterfront where there are a variety of shops, markets, restaurants activities and attractions to enjoy
  • Paragliding from Signal Hill or Lions Head
  • Sky Diving
  • Quad biking, sandboarding and/or bumper balls in the Atlantis sand dunes
  • Scenic helicopter flight
  • Robben Island Excursion - with option of a private guided tour with Christo Brand as the guide (Nelson Mandela's rison guard who became his friend)
  • Cape Malay Cooking experience in the Bo Kaap
  • If this day falls on a Saturday or Sunday a visit to a local Food Market (e.g. Oranjezicht City Farm or Neighbourgoods Market at the Old Biscuit Mill)
  • Constantia Winelands Zip and Sip Trip (half day Ziplining and Wine Tasting in the Constantia Valley) or half day wine tour in the Constantia Valley

Day 12: End of Itinerary

Drive to Cape Town airport for your departure.
