Day 1: Sao Paulo

Arrival at Sao Paulo Airport and transfer to hotel.

Check in at accommodation. Depart in the afternoon for a half day city tour based in your interests.

Return to hotel and overnight.

Day 2: The Pantanal

Early morning check out and departure to the airport to take your flight to Cuiabá (additional cost).

Arrival at Cuiabá airport, where you will be transferred to Porto Jofre. Lunch enroute. We’ll board MINAS motor vessel by the end of the day, for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Barco Hotel Minas do Pantanal

During the cruise there will be several outings or river safaris. Done in a very comfortable and safe speedboat, you will explore lakes, river channels and lagoons, searching for jaguars and other wildlife.  Tours will be done in the morning,  return for lunch as the Motor Vessel cruises downriver up to the Taiaman Ecological Reserve.  Board the speedboat and explore the waterways and submerged grasslands in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Barco Hotel Minas do Pantanal

Taiaman Ecological Reserve is a 70km long island. In speedboat we will explore the right side known as ‘Braçinho’ while the motor vessel cruises on the Paraguay river channel, meeting the group for lunch around the ‘Formoso’ Bay. Another river safari in the afternoon, while the vessel keeps cruising downriver until a region known as Concepcion Port (in the 70s the cattle bred on the fields between Poconé and the Paraguay river,  were embarked in this Port and taken downstream to Corumbá in order to be transported by train to São Paulo city).

Day 5: Barco Hotel Minas do Pantanal

Morning river safari in the surrounding bays and river channels in search of jaguars and other wildlife. Back to the Motor Vessel we will cross two of the largest bays on the Paraguay River, the Uberaba and  Gaiva  bays, each more than 30km wide. It’s almost like crossing a small sea. We will keep cruising up to the Amolar  mountain chain, an exceptionally beautiful landscape. Here the giant water lilies are only one of the many marvelous  gifts of nature to be observed.

Day 6: Barco Hotel Minas do Pantanal

This morning, we will  cruise up to the Gaiva Hill, where the group will visit an archeological site.  Then further explore the ‘Acorizal’ Bay,  continuing the river safari up to the ‘Caracará’ landmark. Lunch on board, while cruising towards the Pantanal National Park. The  safari boat tour will explore the ‘Burro’ Bay ( the Park’s main bay)  while the Vessel  cruises up the Cuiabá River. Overnight in the proximity of the ‘Negrao’ River.

Day 7: Barco Hotel Minas do Pantanal

Morning river safari exploring the ‘Negrão’ and ‘Negrinho’ Rivers, while the Vessel keeps cruising upriver towards the ‘Jofre’ Port. Lunch on board. Another river safari exploring the ‘Meeting of Waters’ State Park and its labyrinth formed by the waters of the Piquiri, Three Brothers and Cuiabá Rivers. Meet the Vessel for dinner and end the day.

Day 8: Rio de Janeiro

After early breakfast disembark at Porto Jofre for our last safari but, this time, back to air-conditioned vehicles along the 147km unpaved Transpantaneira Park Road up to the gold miner’s town of Poconé. Then, a further 111km on the paved state road towards Cuiabá airport.

Lunch enroute. Check in for your late afternoon flight for your next destination. Arrival at Rio de Janeiro airport and transfer to hotel.

Day 9: Rio de Janeiro

Breakfast and private full day tour.

Visit the Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain Stop for lunch nearby (included). Then continue to visit the Sugarloaf for the sunset.

Return to the hotel late afternoon.

Christ the Redeemer:  Located at Corcovado Mountain (710 meters), with a height of 38m. The most important symbol of Rio de Janeiro, this monument is one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. From there you can have a panoramic view of the city.

Sugarloaf (396m): Trademark of Rio de Janeiro, the Sugar Loaf Mountain has a privileged location in the city. In the first part of the cable-car ride you can see the entire Guanabara Bay, Corcovado and Rio-Niteroi Bridge. In the second part of the cable-car ride you can see, in a unique perspective, the beach of Copacabana, Santa Cruz Fortress and some beaches of Niterói in fantastic scenery!

Expert tips

Optional: Hiking towards Urca Hill (220m). We walk by Cláudio Coutinho way and take the trail to reach the Urca Hill. The first step is steep and the trail takes about 40 min. It can be decided locally and will reduce the time up there but will avoid queuing for the cable car. No extra cost. *Moderate level.

Day 10: Rio de Janeiro

After breakfast, depart for a coastal path bike ride.

Return to the hotel and depart for an afternoon private tour according to your interest. Return to hotel and overnight.

Beach Bike

This tour will take you to the iconic beaches in Rio like Copacabana, Arpoador, Ipanema and Leblon, in a stylish bike and on a mostly flat and beachfront cycleway. On Sundays and public holidays some streets are closed for vehicles and you can walk or cycle on these streets.

Day 11: Saco do Mamangua

After breakfast, transfer to paraty mirim (4h-6h) and from there, a boat transfer (30 min – 40 min) to Refugio Mamanguá.

Arrive Mamanguá midafternoon. Time at leisure. Dinner included.

Day 12: Saco do Mamangua

One tour is included today. Choose from the options below. 

Canoe – 6 hours (L)

After breakfast meet the guide at Refúgio Mamanguá and paddle in Canadian canoes through the mangrove to a natural pool. After relaxing, paddle to the restaurant where a typical caiçara lunch will be served. Then, return also in canoes.

Included: local lunch, guide and insurance and life jacket. Not included: drinks.

Trekking – 4 hours (L)

After breakfast meet the guide at Refúgio Mamanguá and take a motor boat (20min) to Cruzeiro beach to begin the trekking (1h40–2h) to the Sugarloaf Peak, passing inside the Atlantic Forest. Afterwards, visit a beach to relax and have a typical caiçara lunch. Return is in the motor boat.

Kayak – 6 hours (Lb)

After breakfast meet the guide at Refúgio Mamanguá and paddle in ocean kayaks into Saco do Mamanguá. Make stops along the way for swimming and at the beaches. Then, return also in kayaks.

Day 13: Paraty

After breakfast, leave Refugio Mamanguá on a private touring boat. Make stops along the way on beaches and islands.

After breakfast enjoy some free time all day to walk around and go shopping, and it is also possible to include a half day tour (not included).

Optional Tours

Stand Up Paddle ($89 USD for 2 passengers) – 2h: The protected flat waters of Paraty’s bay have perfect Stand up paddling conditions. After the safety instructions at Jabaquara beach, just outside the old town, we paddle around, visiting a mangrove area, and Itu Beach. Fruits and water are included. 


Sea Kayaking Bay ($107 USD for 2 passengers) – 4h: If you want to get closer to the nature without the noise of a motorboat this is a great option to see wildlife and visit places like the mangroves, islands and beaches nearby. The views of the old town and the coastal mountain range behind Paraty are spectacular. No previous experience is required. We give paddling and safety instructions. Fruits and water are included.
