Day 1: Addis Ababa

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, you will be welcomed and assisted by a Jacaranda staff and driven to your hotel. Your day will start by having a tour of Haile Selassie’s former palace which is now the home of the Ethnological Museum. Next is a visit to the National Museum, known to be the best museum in Africa, where cultural and archaeological relics, including a plaster cast of "Lucy," the 3.2 million-year-old Hominid, are displayed. There is a visit to Trinity Cathedral Church.

Overnight stay at your hotel. 

Day 2: Jinka

Transfer to the airport for your flight from Addis to Jinka. 

In the afternoon visit the South Omo Ethnographic Musuem and visit the Ari village, then check-in to your overnight hotel. Meal: Lunch & dinner

Day 3: Turmi

Morning drive through the Mago National park to visit the famous Mursi people who are known for piercing the lower lip to put circular and square shaped clay materials to make themselves beautiful. While driving through Mago National Park, you will see plenty of wildlife.

In the afternoon drive to Turmi for Dinner & overnight. 

Day 4: Turmi

Following breakfast depart the hotel for the drive to Omorate.  Enjoy a Dugout canoe crossing of the Omo River to visit the Geleb (Dassenech) people. On the way spot wildlife as we journey to our afternoon visit with the Hammer people in their village before returning to the hotel for overnight. 

 

Day 5: Bahir Dar

In the morning return to the airport for your flight via Addis Bahir Dar.

Upon arrival, we shall have a half day boat trip on the lake to explore some of the islands; there is a visit the Zege peninsula for its famous 14th century monasteries of URA Kidanemihret and Azewa Mariam for their wonderful 16th century mural paintings and many old church treasures.

In the afternoon, we will visit the waterfalls of the Blue Nile: 100 meters wide, the water plunges 45 meters. An opportunity to descend the falls and cross the Nile is available.

Overnight stay in Kuriftu resort or hotel of similar standards. 

Day 6: Bahir Dar

In the morning drive to Gondar.

Your visit will include the Royal enclosure consisting of several castles inscribed by UNESCO, King Fasiledes’s bath and the fascinating Debre Birhan Selassie church which is well known for its intriguing ceiling paintings.

Continue to the hotel for overnight. 

  

Days 7 - 8: Gondar

Today following breakfast leave for an excursion to the Siemen Mountains National Park to enjoy spectacular scenery and more over to see troops of the endemic furred Gelada baboons, Simien or Ethiopian Wolf or the elusive Walia Ibex.  

Siemen is recorded in the UNESCO heritage list for its superlative natural phenomena.

In the afternoon drive back to Gondar and your overnight hotel. 

 

Day 9: Axum

  

Fly to Axum (UNESCO heritage site) this morning.

Axum is a city more than 3000 years of history and once the center of a great empire and ancient civilization, home of the original Ark of the Covenant. The sightseeing of this ancient city includes St. Mary’s Church, the sanctuary Chapel which is the repository for ‘Ark of the covenant’, the coronation yard, the Stelae Park, Tombs of Kaleb and his son Gebre Meskel, Ezana’s inscriptions and Dungur palace (popularly known as ruins of Queen of Sheba’s palace.

A visit is organized to the steles: granite monoliths dating from pre-Christian times and decorated with symbolic engravings. During the Italian occupation of Ethiopia, Mussolini had taken one of them to Rome. It has since then been returned and re-erected in Axum. 

There is also a visit to the church of Saint Mary of Zion, which contains the crowns of Ethiopian kings and other treasures. Overnight stay in Sabean hotel/Yeha hotel or similar standard. (

Day 10: Lalibela

In the morning fly to Lalibela to visit the eleven rock-hewn churches registered by UNESCO. ]

Lalibela is known for its well preserved Rock Hewn churches; each rock churches are carved out and crafted beautifully from a single volcanic rock. Here you head on back to 11th c. mythical rock hewn churches of Lalibela. The mysterious Lalibela churches are widely regarded as the 8th wonder of the world.

Transfer to your overnight hotel for dinner. 

Day 11: End of Itinerary

Enjoy meals and activities before transfer to the airport for your flight to Addis and departure.
