The tall rocky outcrop will be visible for miles before you arrive. Its called Nyasura and it is certainly sacred ground, used for millennia by hunters and others seeking shelter. Ancient graves, flints and pounding stones called boluses are all in evidence around the rocks and particularly the caves. We will be camped beside Nyasura and in the evening after a jaunt about we will scale its slopes for a view and a sundowner. The remainder of the safari traverses a rich Acacia bush country that thrives with plains game as well as the predators that like to eat them. It is not uncommon to run into a lion, leapard, hyaena or wilddog along the course of this safari.
Our walks are guided by Laikipia Masai and Samburu guides local to this part of Kenya. Our area has a very rich traditional culture and on market days (every second Wednesday), all the warriors and women come dressed in their finest adornments
