Arrival in Windhoek

You’ll be picked up at the airport by your tour guide and driven to the beautiful Omaanda Lodge, which is located in the middle of a large nature reserve with a view of the surrounding Namibian savannah. Settle into your new destination and let yourself be pampered. Enjoy your first evening in Namibia with your first sunset drive followed by a good dinner.

Day 2: Kalahari Namibia

Drive to the Kalahari semi-desert

Enjoy our first morning in Namibia by indulging in an amazing breakfast before driving through Namibian farmland or via Windhoek, Rehoboth, and Kalkrand into the Kalahari and the Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch. Your chalet is built on the back of a flat dune and offers a wonderful view of the Kalahari plains. At sunset you’ll go on a nature tour through the up to 30m high red, longitudinal dunes in an open off-road vehicle, taking in the typical flora and fauna of the Kalahari Desert.

Day 3: Fish River Canyon

To the Fish River Canyon

You drive through an arid area with many succulents such as quiver trees, whose dead branches were used by the Bushmen as quivers for their arrows. You can take a closer look at this aloe species on the way at the quiver tree forest, while a visit to the "Giant's Playground", where ancient volcanic rock formations transport every observer into a fascinating fantasy world, is also worth the time. You then travel via Keetmanshoop to Fish River Lodge, the only lodge on the western edge of the Fish River Canyon. From here you have a breathtaking view of the canyon, which is up to 550 m deep, and can enjoy a sundowner drink as the sun sinks behind it, and look forward to dinner.

Day 4: Fish River Canyon

Today you take a scenic trip down into the deep canyon, where you can observe various bird species, such as the osprey, which silently looks for prey without flapping its wings. Strong updrafts ensure pleasant temperatures at the edge of the canyon and, back from the tour, you might fancy a refreshing dip in the swimming pool.

Day 5: Aus

Continue to Aus

The route on to Aus, and Klein-Aus Vista, is impressive in its barrenness and loneliness. The chalets of your accommodation are nestled between granite boulders and offer an indescribable view over the endless expanses on the edge of the Namib Desert. In the afternoon you can visit the famous and fascinating "Wild Horses of Garub", whose origin has been a mystery for decades. You are also sure to experience an unforgettable sunset.

Sesriem/Sossusvlei

Today you drive north along the edge of the unbelievably vast Namib Desert, the isolated island mountains and dune landscapes offering one of the most spectacular landscapes in Namibia. The small Camp Sossus with its tented accommodation is a true "back to nature" experience that gives visitors the opportunity to experience the Namib Desert in a very special way. If you feel like it, you can even sleep under the stars - a truly unique experience!

Day 7: Namib Tsaris Conservancy

Your day starts very early. At sunrise, you take the lodge's vehicle to Sesriem and continue to the highest dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. As the sun is still quite low in the morning, the high dunes shimmer golden, yellow and reddish on one side, but are dark and shadowy on the other, making the dune ridge stand out razor-sharp. A short hike will take you to the photogenic Dead Vlei with its famous dead tree trunks. You can also climb the highest dune in the area, "Big Daddy", being rewarded at the top with a breathtaking view. On the way back you visit the Sesriem Canyon, and have the afternoon to yourself to let the great experiences of the past few days to sink in.

Day 8: Swakopmund

To Swakopmund

You continue north to Solitaire, where you can sample the famous apple pie, before passing the Gaub and Kuiseb Passes and crossing the central Namib Desert. On the way you are sure to see ostriches, but maybe also springboks, zebras, and oryx antelopes. In the coastal town of Swakopmund, you’ll spend the night right next to the ocean. The town center, with its numerous cafés and restaurants, is within walking distance, and dinner is served in a restaurant with a view of the sea.

Day 9: Swakopmund

In the morning you take a very interesting boat trip in the Walvis Bay lagoon where you’ll see seals, dolphins, flamingos, and pelicans. Many activities are possible in the afternoon (optional), including enjoying the beach, visiting the museum, aquarium or crystal gallery, or quad biking in the dunes. A sightseeing flight along the coast can also be booked (all optional).

Day 10: Erongo Gebirge

Erongo Mountains

You bid farewell to the sea and drive to the Erongo Mountains, on the way looking north to see the majestic Spitzkoppe, also known as the "Matterhorn of Namibia", which rises 600 meters above the plain. Your lodge is nestled between bizarre granite rock formations, and hikes can be undertaken in this wildly beautiful landscape.

Day 11: Twyfelfontein

Drive via Uis to Twyfelfontein

You drive past the 2,573 m high Brandberg massif to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein, an Afrikaans name which means "dubious source". The sandstones in the area are the fossilized remains of a primeval desert that covered large areas of present-day Namibia with its masses of sand around 180 million years ago. Your small, exclusive camp is made up of grass-covered tented bungalows, which are set up very privately between the round granite peaks and blend perfectly into the landscape. You can relax and enjoy the sunset over this unique landscape in the evening.

Day 12: Twyfelfontein

Huab Drive and Twyfelfontein

A special special excursion awaits you today as you take a drive in the lodge's open safari vehicle down the dry riverbed of the Huab and Aba-Huab. Driving between tall camelthorn and ana trees in the deep river sand you may be lucky enough to encounter the famous desert elephants on this otherwise very scenic tour.  In the afternoon you visit the world-famous Bushman engravings at Twyfelfontein (declared a world cultural heritage site in 2007), the "Organ Pipes", and the "Burnt Mountain". End the day off toasting the sunset on a hill with a 360° panoramic view, before being surprised with a delicious dinner.

Drive through Damaraland

You drive via Khorixas to the Ugab Terraces, on the way we are visiting the "Petrified Forest", a collection of fossilized tree trunks up to 30 m long, which were formed 280 million years ago and have been exposed again by erosion. Your lodge today lies next to the Vingerklip, a finger of rock that points 35 meters up to the sky. The landscape here is very special and has been compared to the "Marlboro" area in the USA.

Day 14: Ongava Private Game Reserve

To Etosha National Park

Today you want to get to the Etosha National Park as quickly as possible, driving via Outjo to the Ongava Private Game Reserve, where your luxurious, grass-roofed chalet is built from local stone and has a private veranda. From the restaurant and bar, there is a magnificent view of the plains and the waterhole, which is illuminated at night. In the afternoon you can relax in the beautiful lodge, or drive to Etosha with your guide for your first game drives.

Day 15: Ongava Private Game Reserve

Etosha National Park

The Etosha National Park is one of the largest game reserves in the world and is considered one of the most outstanding game parks in Africa. The animals are attracted by the Etosha Pan, a huge depression that is rarely filled with rainwater, but which has many waterholes at its edge where numerous animals and birds can be found all year round. You have the whole day to go on game drives with your guide, but if you choose to only stay in the park in the morning, you could book a guided game drive in Ongava's own game reserve (optional), where you will probably also encounter rhinos.

Day 16: Onguma Nature Reserve

Drive through the eastern Etosha National Park

You leave the private game reserve of Ongava and drive through the eastern part of Etosha Park to the Onguma Game Reserve. On the way, you can stop at the various waterholes to observe animals such as giraffes, various antelopes, ostriches and, with a bit of luck, elephants and lions. Leave the park by sunset and take the road to Onguma soon after. The luxurious lodge "The Fort" is incomparable - magnificent sunsets await you and the spacious suites offer a classic African feeling.

Day 17: Okonjima Nature Reserve

Today you turn your back on the wildlife of Etosha National Park and drive via Tsumeb to Otjiwarongo. On the way you can visit Lake Otjikoto, where in 1915 the Germans sank their cannons and weapons while fleeing from the South African forces. You continue to the Okonjima Bush Camp near the village of Otjiwarongo. This exclusive camp is situated in a 22,000-hectare private nature reserve in the middle of the Omboroko Mountains. Here we are accommodated in a comfortable, detached bungalow, and are already expected for lunch. A leopard-tracking game drive is booked for you in the afternoon, and you can round off the evening with a delicious dinner.

Day 18: Greater Windhoek

Drive towards Windhoek

With your Namibian safari slowly coming to an end, enjoy your breakfast and drive via Windhoek to the private nature reserve of Gocheganas. The private nature reserve covers 6,000 hectares and is home to around 1,600 wild animals. All the bungalows have a magnificent view of the farmland at the foot of the Auas Mountains. You can relax and look back on the experiences of your vacation, or visit the tastefully furnished wellness centre, where massages, sauna, and much more are offered.  Then enjoy your last evening with a delicious dinner.
