Hohenstein Lodge is located on the bottom of the highest peak of the Erongo mountains. In the evening, spectacular sunsets bathe the mountain in fantastic red light. The view over the vast landscape extends as far as the Spitzkoppe peak, protruding as a prominent relief from the plain. The lodge is the perfect starting point for exciting outings at the Hohenstein and for day-trips to the Spitzkoppe or the neighbouring Ameib farm. The Hohenstein Lodge offers accommodation in 14 spacious rooms with en-suite shower /WC and in-room safe. Relax in the private atmosphere of the shady terrace belonging to each room and enjoy the unique scenic view. Take a seat on the restaurant’s terrace and sip a cool drink while enjoying this spectacular view as well as the view down the valley dotted with ancient camel thorn trees and the Kaichanab located on the farm grounds and rising up to 1,469 m. This afternoon excursion starts with a 20 minutes drive on a game drive car to the staring point of the guided hiking tour and leads to the most interesting landscape of the farm, characterized by spectacular rock formations and fascinating vegetation. The experienced nature guide will explain the geological highlights of the Erongo mountains as well as the special vegetation of the area. The minerals found on the mountain - semi-precious stones like tourmaline and aquamarine are mined here - are just as much a subject as the rock paintings of the Bushmen. With some luck, giraffes, various antelope species or other animals can also be spotted.
On the way back, spectacular views including the sun setting behind the majestic Spitzkoppe mountain and amazing photographic opportunities are waiting. After having a sundowner on a beautiful place, another twenty minutes drive leads back to the lodge.
Restaurant and Reception area at Hohenstein Lodge
The main building houses the reception, a cozy lounge and the restaurant. Meals are served most of the year on the large terrace. A rich breakfast buffet awaits the guests in the morning. For dinner, the African evening is enchanting. The dishes are orientated to European taste and have an African influence.
The evening ends at the fire place, where you can enjoy the illuminated waterhole.
The main house, swimming pool and bungalows are connected by comfortable cobblestone paths.

Embark on a self-drive safari into Etosha National Park from the King Nehale Gate, the northern entrance to this iconic wildlife reserve. This route provides direct access to the park’s northern and central regions, allowing you to explore at your own pace and experience Namibia’s extraordinary wildlife and landscapes.
Your journey can include visits to the park’s main rest camps: Namutoni Camp in the northeast, Halali Camp centrally located, and Okaukuejo Camp in the west. Along the way, drive through vast salt pans, open savannahs, and around busy waterholes where elephants, giraffes, lions, springboks, and a variety of other wildlife congregate. Birdlife is also abundant, offering excellent opportunities for photography and observation.
Well-marked roads make navigation straightforward, and each camp provides facilities for rest, refreshments, and short breaks. A self-drive safari allows you the flexibility to linger at wildlife hotspots, take photographs, and enjoy the scenery on your own schedule.

Frans Indongo Lodge | Otjiwarongo
Named after its owner Frans Indongo Lodge, situated in the town Otjiwarongo, is your ideal stop when traveling between Windhoek and Etosha National Park. There are three different types of rooms at this lodge, all pleasantly furnished with a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, a small fridge, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The open plan Lapa in the main building offers a restaurant where Breakfast is included, a lounge with a fireplace, and a bar. The outside deck is complete with a swimming pool and loungers for a revitalizing swim after a long day in the Savannah bushveld. Activities on offer range from game drives, unguided walking trails, and a self-drive day visit to the Waterberg Plateau National Park. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the views from the floodlit waterhole and all the abundant charm this lodge provides.

Our family unit consist of two separated rooms, one sharing bathroom and an inter leading door.
The children’s room is equipped with a queen size sofa bed (size 153 x 190 cm). The master bedroom is equipped with two ¾ size beds standing next to each other (size for one bed is 107 x 190 cm).
Both rooms sharing the bathroom with a bath tub, shower , toilet, 2 wash basins.
Two sliding doors are giving way to a small terrace and the garden.

Frans Indongo Bush Camping is situated 46 km from Otjiwarongo on the D2433. Therefore it is not only the ideal stopover for the traveler enroute from Windhoek to the Etosha National Park, the Caprivi or to Botswana, but it also offers various remarkable day trips to nearby surroundings.
The BUSH CAMPING is approximately 5 km away from the lodge. The campsite left very naturally under big trees, is located on the slopes of the mountain with a spectacular view into the savanna. No fences, just endless nature will be lying in front of you.

Frans Indongo Lodge exudes the sense for life of northern Namibia’s people in a most charming way. The complex is modelled on traditional Ovambo homesteads: palisades of tall pointed stakes embrace the lodge and convey a feeling of the warmth and security of home right in the middle of the African bush. Inside the complex a palisade separates the restaurant and swimming pool area from the guest chalets and thereby provides more privacy. A variety of beautiful building materials like natural stone, wood and reed were used for the houses. Items of daily use in Ovambo – earthen pots, voluminous storage baskets or original wooden figures – serve as decoration to emphasise the African theme, and lend a very special charm to the lodge.
