The Aroma Boma at Rock Lodge is located 800 feet above the African Savannah with truly stunning views over the Bush and offers complete privacy.

The daily Safari walk usually commences after breakfast. This is a fascinating activity as it allows

you to observe the smaller animals that you would usually not see while out on the game vehicles. Our knowledgeable Rangers and Trackers will enthral you with stories about the medicinal properties of plants, local beliefs regarding the wildlife and fascinating facts.

Fancy a spot of tennis? We have two floodlit tennis courts for you to play on during your stay. Don’t worry about tennis racquets and tennis balls - we have everything you need as well as a fully stocked bar!

There is an outdoor heated swimming pool, perfect for rest and relxation. The pool is solar heated in the winter months (May to September).

There is a gym for guests use which is available 24 hours.

The Community Tours and Excursions are organized by Pride ‘n Purpose, Ulusaba’s charitable
arm. The basic philosophy behind its work is the principle of empowering people to help themselves while promoting sustainable development.

All of Pride’n Purposes’s expenses are funded by Ulusaba and Virgin Unite, the group’s entrepreneurial foundation, so 100% of donations can be put into the much needed projects to
improve living conditions for the local population. All money raised through those tours goes to the

Canyons, Cultures and Contrasts
A day out on the famed ‘Panorama Route’ along the Drakensberg Escarpment: this tour features
visits to the Victorian Town of Pilgrims Rest, the infamous Robber’s Grave, Blyde River Canyon, The
Three Rondavels, God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and Lisbon Waterfalls. You’ll get up close
and personal with some of the region’s natural beauty, and we’ll tell you about the history of the
area’s hardy pioneers. Lunch is enjoyed at Harries Original Pancake Restaurant in Graskop, where
sweet, freshly prepared, pancakes and fresh salads and other country fare are served.
This is a full day excursion.

Cascades and Canyons Spectacular
Take an exhilarating helicopter flight that swoops over deep and mysterious gorges and through
lush valleys bursting with vegetation and colour. Linger above cascading waterfalls for some
brilliant photo opportunities. The flight will continue to God’s Window, which offers awesome panoramic views of the bushveld below. Then it’s on to the fascinating and dramatic rock
formations of the 1 000-metre-deep, 30-kilometrelong Blyde River Canyon, (the third deepest and
greenest Canyon in the World). You will have a bird’s eye view of the curious Three Rondavels!
We will then land at a site with magnificent views of the Mpumalanga Lowveld, while you tuck into a delicious picnic.

The Dom Carlos Spectacular Our signature driving trip to the northern most point of Bazaruto Island. This is the experience of a lifetime. Drive by the lakes, villages, dunes, beaches, including Sailfish Bay and Dolphin Bay, all the way to the very tip of the northern point of Bazaruto Island to the famous Dom Carlos Point. The sea and currents are on three sides. Our team members will set up a shaded tent and a picnic lunch while you enjoy swimming, snorkelling, witnessing majestic bird and marine life with the Bazaruto lighthouse as your backdrop.

Bazaruto Island Discovery Explore the unique flora, fauna, and people of Bazaruto Island, enriched by the insight of a knowledgeable local guide. Discover beautiful lakes, home to a large population of exotic birds and Nile crocodiles. Weave through the tropical landscape to towering sand dunes, marvelling at rural inland villages along the way. A visit to the Zengelema primary school and community centre, will provide you with knowledge on local island life and Anantara’s community initiatives.

Anantara Bazaruto Bliss Start your journey on a private boat charter, a lavish experience to explore the most pristine and remote locations of the Bazaruto Archipelago. Head to a perfect spot on a deserted sandbank in the Indian Ocean for a romantic private picnic lunch and toast away with your loved one. Return to the resort for an after-sun retreat at Anantara Spa and enjoy a 30 minute body scrub, removing excess dead skin and make your tan last longer. ULTIMATE DUNE BOARDING Bazaruto’s spectacularly high sand dunes may tempt you to clamber up these towering works of windblown art and board back down at an exhilarating speed. Dune boarding requires very little skill and is appropriate for both children and adults, perfect for a great family escapade.

BIG GAME FISHING
Deep-Sea Fishing Excursion When is the best time to fish the Bazaruto Archipelago? Anytime. A national park since 1971, the Bazaruto Archipelago is protected by strict conservation policies. A tag and release practice ensures sustainability and plentiful prize catches for all. These waters are renowned for Sailfish, Wahoo, Blue striped and black Marlin, Kingfish, Queenfish, Barracuda, Mackerel and Yellowfin tuna among others.Bazaruto season. This is pretty much a yearround fishery. Big game and heavy tackle fishing is at its best in the summer months between September to April. Sailfish peak season is usually in winter between May and September. Bazaruto is amongst the three best places in the world to catch Giant Black Marlin. The season runs between late August to April, with the peak for the big fish being mid September to late December. Our two biggest weighted Black Marlin’ so far was a 1098 lbs that got tail wrapped and another that was sharked by the boat after 5 hours, which remains weighted at 1107 lbs (It went a whopping 1418 lbs on the formula). Bazaruto is still the only place in Africa to have produced Black Marlin over a 1 000 pounds and the All African record caught in these waters weighed 1298 lbs. Durations: Half day (6 hours) or Full day (10 hours).

Afternoon Bay Fishing - Duration Quarter day (3 hours)

Traditional Chokka Fishing Try catching your own calamari dinner using a traditional handline fishing method on board a traditional sailing dhow and leave the cooking in the capable hands of our culinary team. - Duration: 3 hours (Quarter day)

OCEAN SAFARI - Set out on an offshore boat trip to view some of the Indian Ocean’s most mesmerising sea creatures. Gaze at Dolphins dancing in the waves. Look out for Humpback Whales from June to September during their annual great migration to breed and give birth. Also the Leatherback, Loggerhead and Green Sea Turtles are often spotted from the boat or while snorkelling giving you a unique experience to be side by side with these gentle creatures. You might even catch a glimpse of the elusive Dugong, the part of the largest remaining population of dugong in East Africa, currently the largest population on the West coast of the Indian Ocean, estimated at more than 250 individuals. The Bazaruto Archipelago boasts the largest population of these rare “sea cows” on Africa’s eastern coast. Snorkell at two mile reef, one of the most unique marine ecosystems in Mozambique where over 2 000 fish species inhabit the reef giving you breath taking snorkelling opportunities. - Duration: Quarter Day (3 hours) or Half Day (6 hours)

DIVING EXPERIENCES

Explore two fantastic dive sites with knowledgeable guides Only a 15 minute boat journey away, Zengelemo dive site has a maximum depth of 18 meters and features a sloping wall that is home to large clams, reef fish and dazzling coral. This dive site is only available at low tide due to currents. The Two Mile Reef is our most popular location with plentiful dive sites. The coral reefs start at a depth of 5 meters and slowly descend to a maximum of 22 meters, making it possible to see large schools of reef fish, turtles, rays and reef sharks, as well as occasional visits by Dolphins, Dugongs, Manta Rays, Whale Sharks and even Humpback Whales.

PADI Scuba Diving Courses Whether you’ve always dreamed of learning how to scuba dive or want to improve your skills, PADI scuba certification courses are offered for all experience levels. We offer a range of courses and excursions from Discovery up to Advanced.

Discover Scuba Diving This course is ideal for those who aren’t quite ready to plunge into certification. Take advantage of a quick and easy introduction to the underwater world with scuba equipment in shallow water. Your time counts towards credits in PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certification. 

PADI Scuba Diver Course This course requires less time than the PADI Open Water Diver and covers the first three of five knowledge development sections. The first three of five pool sessions and the first two of four open water training dives, towards a limited certification.

Covering everything you need to know about basic scuba diving, terminology and safety procedures, the course consists of three knowledge development modules, four confined water dives and four open-water dives.
