Chobe Game Lodge is a rough-clad vaulted maze of courtyards, passages and verandahs that face the Chobe River and its great flood plain.
The 44 rooms have barrel-vaulted ceilings and high archways that frame a delightful view of the river. All rooms have air conditioning, ceiling fans, complimentary mini bars and private terraces with river views.
Dining is either a high table bonanza on the river-facing terrace or a sumptuous buffet on the lawn beneath an ancient mahogany tree. The food is a Westerner's introduction to local ingredients and the wine list features some of South Africa's regular offerings.
One of the only lodges inside the Chobe National Park, you are on your game drive or boat cruise long before anyone else. In fact, by the time anyone else has ventured where you've already been, you are back at the lodge relaxing and enjoying a spa treatment.
As if you need any further selling on this superb safari lodge, most of the game drive vehicles and all of the boats are electric, which, apart from the obvious environmental benefit, means minimal noise so your sightings are a true bush experience. Camp Moremi is a small and welcoming safari lodge in the Okavango Delta's Moremi Game Reserve on the edge of a large palm-infringed lagoon.
The main living area is built in and around a grove of giant ebony trees and the tented rooms flank the lodge on both sides built on stilts along the water's edge. The chalets - comfortable, elegant, spacious - have private balconies overlooking Xakanaka Lagoon (pronounced KA-ka-na-ka) and the Okavango Delta beyond.
Like many safari camps, the interior decor at Camp Moremi combines traditional safari elements with modern comfort. The whole camp gives a sense of calm in the neutral tones and gentle colour palette offering peaceful, relaxing surroundings.
Moremi Game Reserve is known for its pristine wilderness and diverse wildlife and covers an area of approximately 4,800 km2 in the northeastern part of the Okavango Delta. You’ll be heading out on morning and afternoon game drives to explore the numerous ecosystems of the reserve and the Xakanaka Lagoon by boat. Offering the best of both worlds, land and water, it’s an all-inclusive experience of the Okavango Delta. Keep your eyes peeled for leopard, herds of elephant, lions, antelope and buffalo among others. The birdlife is incredible too.
