Set behind a discreet entrance in Melrose, The Peech Hotel offers a quieter, greener side of Johannesburg. Once a 1950s family home, it now sits within two acres of landscaped gardens, a short drive from Sandton, Rosebank, Melrose Arch and Wanderers Stadium. The James and Ethel Gray Park lies just across the road, while the city’s business, shopping and cultural hubs are all within easy reach.
The hotel balances residential calm with considered design. Rooms range from elegant Classic and Luxury categories to spacious suites and a private two-bedroom villa. Interiors are light and refined, with oak floors in select rooms, generous bathrooms with deep soaking tubs or rain showers, and private patios or balconies overlooking the gardens. Subtle touches elevate the stay, from Nespresso machines and plush robes to locally inspired toiletries.
Days unfold easily at The Peech, with mornings in the garden, afternoons by the pool or strolling across to the park, and evenings shaped around exceptional on-site dining. The Pot Luck Club Johannesburg brings energy and flavour after dark, with inventive small plates and a lively dining room.
INSIDER'S TIP: Opt for a room with a patio overlooking the garden and enjoy a quiet coffee with a view.

Rebuilt in June 2024, Tubu Tree Camp is located on the western edge of Hunda Island in the Jao Reserve — the largest dry-land area within the concession. Surrounded by a mosaic of mopane woodland, acacia forest and seasonal floodplains, the camp offers exceptional year-round game viewing, particularly renowned for leopard, lion, wild dog and large herds of elephant and buffalo.
Guests enjoy both day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, with wildlife movements influenced by seasonal water levels, ensuring every stay offers a dynamic and varied safari experience. During high water months (typically May to September), boating, seasonal fishing and mokoro excursions provide an additional water-based perspective of the Delta.
The camp features eight elevated tented suites, including a spacious family unit with two adjoining tents and a shared lounge, all offering expansive floodplain views. Tubu Tree is connected to Little Tubu via raised wooden walkways, allowing larger groups to combine both camps seamlessly.
INSIDER’S TIP: The raised Star Bed sleep-out offers an unforgettable night under the African sky in true predator country.

This small, intimate camp embodies all that is best about the Okavango Delta – breathtaking beauty, remote, peaceful island location, abundant game and varied landscapes. Add in the warm hospitality of the people of this region – who are stakeholders in the ecotourism success story of the Okavango – and you have a winning (and beautiful) combination.
With access to varied, game-rich habitats, this six-tented camp nestles beneath the trees of an ancient island forest. A floating jetty connects land with water, and the wildlife experience can include sightings of sable, and African wild dog.
INSIDER'S TIP: Float along a crystal-clear Okavango waterway by mokoro as you scan for reed frogs and waterlilies.
