Monachira Camp is a new camp situated along the Monachira Channel in the Okavango Delta, within the Moremi Game Reserve. The camp focuses on experiencing the water wonderland of the Okavango Delta, activities are water focused. This prime location offers guests breathtaking views of the floodplains and wetlands that stretch beyond the camp.

The camp features eight luxurious tents and two spacious family tents, each designed to provide a comfortable and elegant stay amidst the wilderness. All tents are raised on wooden decks to enhance views of the surroundings and are equipped en-suite bathrooms. The family tents are ideal for larger groups, as they include two bathrooms, ensuring privacy and convenience.

Monachira Camp’s main area is designed to maximize relaxation and delight of the Delta’s beauty. It includes both tented and outdoor dining spaces where guests can savor delectable meals while taking in the panoramic views. There is a refreshing swimming pool for cooling off during hot afternoons, and a well-stocked curio shop for those looking to purchase unique souvenirs. A separate sunset bar, positioned to overlook the river, offers a serene spot to unwind with a drink and witness the vibrant colors of the African sunset.

Savuti Camp is situated on the Savute channel in an isolated part of the private Linyanti Concession, ‘downstream’ from the Zibadjanja Lagoon, the source of the Savute. The channel is very much dependant on yearly flood levels and rainfall. When in flow, it becomes a deep waterway with lots of splashing hippos and water birds, turning into a productive ribbon of grassland that attracts a wide variety of herbivores when not in flow.

This intimate camp's accommodation is in seven large walk-in tents with en-suite facilities; each tent is raised off the ground and faces across the Savute Channel. From the camp's thatched dining area and pub, a plunge pool and large viewing area extend outwards on raised wooden decks towards the channel.

Activities are day and night open game drives, nature walks with an armed guide (on request/within safety restrictions), and several well-positioned hides for safe, up-close animal viewing. 

Game concentrations in the area are high, particularly in the winter dry season, and apart from abundant plains game, species such as roan and sable antelope, southern giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena, black-backed jackal and wild dog may also be encountered. The birding is awesome at any time of year but best in summer.

Activities are focused on game drives. During periods of high water levels, water activities may be possible but not guaranteed. An opportunity to spend a night outdoors on a Star Bed, with the grandeur of the southern skies twinkling overhead, may also be arranged (weather permitting). It is recommended to pre-book to avoid disappointment.

A whole new safari experience begins after dark. Look out for nocturnal animals including lesser bushbabies, spring hares, aardwolf, servals, large spotted genets, and if you are extremely lucky, perhaps even pangolin!

Explore on foot, and observe the many signs of the wild from tracks on the ground, to the sounds of the wilderness around you.

In times when the water has receded, the camp's log-pile hide is a perfect place to spend your afternoon siesta hours. Elephant are often the star attraction here: either big elephant feet will obstruct your view, or watch out for sprays of water propelled from their trunks!

The Savuti Star Bed, overlooking the Savuti Channel and facing the Zibadianja Lagoon, to the west, is the perfect place from which to view and photograph animals, and birds. An authentic and unique way to sleep-out under a crystal-clear African sky, experiencing a thrilling perspective of the African bush at night, surrounded by nature from this elevated platform.

Exploring the waters by boat can be undertaken in the morning, during midday, or as an afternoon activity. Boating is a wonderful way of seeing large numbers of waterbirds, and wildlife, attracted to the river and seasonal pans.

With the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve being an internationally recognised Important Bird Area (IBA), birding is understandably outstanding at Wilderness Savuti, from slaty egret in the water to kori bustard in the dry areas.

Chitabe Lediba camp is situated in the Chitabe Concession which covers 28 000 hectares of pristine Okavango wilderness. It borders the well-known Moremi Game Reserve and is nestled between two main river systems, the Gomoti to the east and the Santantadibe to the west.

The camp is intimate and private, with five tents and two family units with adjoining bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. The spacious Meru-style tents are built on raised decks with luxurious interiors; en-suite bathrooms complement the outdoor shower "with a view." A dining area, lounge and pool with glorious views over the surrounding floodplains and a small lediba (remnant lagoon that has become a waterhole), after which the camp is named. Game comes to drink from this water source often during the day.

Explore the area on morning and afternoon game drives, the evening drive usually returning after dark so as to get a chance at spotting the shyer nocturnal animals such as genet, civet, serval, porcupine and possibly aardwolf. Other wildlife seen in the area includes elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, cheetah as well as wild dog.

What makes Chitabe unique even in the Okavango Delta is that it harbours such a variety of habitats within close proximity, ranging from classic Okavango scenery with Ilala palms dotting floodplains to open savannah and acacia woodlands. A finger of perennial swamps inundated by water throughout the year extends into the Chitabe Concession and the area is also dominated by seasonally flooded areas which transform over fifty percent of the concession from dry floodplains into a lush oasis, when the annual floodwaters meander through. All this gives rise to a surprising diversity of species, which allows Chitabe to offer guests a wide range of game viewing and birding experiences.

The smaller and more intimate Wilderness Chitabe Lediba is well-placed to create a more relaxed atmosphere. It is named after the lediba (a remnant lagoon that is now an active waterhole) in front of camp.

Nestled in the natural beauty of Chitabe Island, the walkways weaves through the treeline and termite mounds – all harmonious to the natural order – with innovatively built tents to ensure minimal environmental impact.

All tents have indoor and outdoor showers, the latter offering spectacular views of the Delta scenery.

Families are easily accommodated in two units which each sleep four comfortably. Both suites have two bedrooms with two three-quarter beds, and private en-suite bathrooms.

Families with small children will prefer the unit with an interleading indoor passage, while families with older children will enjoy the privacy of the unit with an outdoor walkway.

Prepare yourself for some significant predator-prey, or predator-predator, action – a wildlife photographer’s dream. Lions, leopards, African wild dogs, spotted hyaenas, and cheetahs provide almost constant unfolding drama on the floodplains, at the expense of herbivores such as buffalos, giraffes; and a host of antelope, such as tsessebe, impala, and red lechwe.

On top of the excitement of a safari experience, the advantage of evening drives is that you have a unique chance to see nocturnal wildlife at their most active. Instead of watching a big cat snooze in the sun, for example, you may be able to glimpse a pride preparing for their evening hunt and setting off into the bush for a kill. Scan the bushveld for creatures that rarely appear during the day, from aardvark, to civets, genets, bushbabies, and owls.

A walking safari is a wonderful way to explore Africa's wildlife, and these may vary from a gentle morning ramble to a longer "hike" for the more intrepid. Escorted by our enthusiastic guides, explore areas with no roads, whilst listening to bird calls, and learning about animal track identification.

The birdlife is excellent and varies throughout the year, depending on water levels and season. Sightings may include African hawk-eagle, ground hornbill, scarlet-chested sunbird, red-billed hornbill, gabar goshawk and red-billed francolin.
