Wolwedans Dune Camp | NamibRand Nature Reserve
Wolwedans Dune Camp is a paired down, luxury camp on top of a large dune. Six tents and a 2-bedroomed family suite are pitched on enormous wooden decks and the en suite bathrooms look out over the desert. The main lodge is comfortable and relaxed with sublime views at every turn.
Wolwedans Dune Camp sits on the edge of a dune. A 250-metre behemoth of shifting red sand surrounded by soft blonde grass. Six luxurious tents sit atop the dune on raised platforms that are connected to the sublime main lodge by a series of elevated walkways and just a little further, but still a part of the camp, you'll find the private family suite.
The canvas tents are a flimsy barrier between the endless desert outside and the cosy luxury within. En suite bathrooms are enormous and your view from everywhere is astounding. The living area is all chunky leather couches, hefty wooden tables and rumpled books on weathered shelves.
From your private deck, there's plenty space to lounge around and marvel in the endless view, at night sleep out under the stars and in the heat of summer, enjoy the water-filled silo to cool off.
If the tents are a little too adventurous and the elements a little too close for comfort, go for the magnificent Wolwedans Desert Lodge which is a sturdier version.

Sossusvlei Desert Lodge | Sossusvlei
Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is in a league of its own for its elegance, unique features and activity offerings. It is modestly over the top. Yes that is possible. Every detail has been thought out, then topped with more and finished with a little extra. You’ll be left wanting for nothing except to stay longer.
On a private reserve bordering the Namib Rand Reserve (yet you're still close enough to include the highlights of Sossusvlei), Sossusvlei Desert Lodge sits against an outcrop with an endless view onto open plains, distant mountains and sand dunes. It’s a view that looks as though it could only be photo shopped, it’s that surreal.
The architectural design of the lodge blends into the background when looking from afar, but as you near, its interesting angular design catches the eye. It’s elegant and sophisticated in its palette of neutrals, rust and ochres and finished with subtle nuances of varied textures in shades of pale greys and creams. It’s inviting in its rich opulence, so understated.
Your suite, extravagant and immaculate as you look out onto the seamlessly never ending vista ahead. Everything about your stay here is indulgent, but we’ll leave that up to you to discover before we divulge any further. It’s not a five star lodge, it’s worthy of a millions stars and you can see them all from the observatory, guided by a professional astronomer or laying in bed from your stargazing skylight.
What can we say? This is a place you have to experience to know what we are talking about. The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s beyond grand. There’s simply is nothing quite like that view from your private pool, sipping on your sundowner in revered silence. Overlooking a landscape that is frankly, out of this world, it seems far-fetched that a place like this even exists and there you have it, it’s the And Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge.

Designed to capture the splendor and solitude of the desert, just ten stone and glass suites spread out along the curve of the escarpment, allowing absolute privacy. Each air conditioned glass-fronted suite is designed to complement the expansive views of the different habitats, perfectly framed from the spacious internal areas. Featuring a private veranda, bedroom with retractable skylights for in-bed star-gazing, a living room with a fireplace, an ensuite bathroom with a glass-encased rain shower offering 180º views, and a perfectly-positioned private plunge pool for some sublime respite after a long day in the desert heat.
All suites include star-viewing skylights, discrete music systems and customised personal bars. One of the most innovative features of the accommodation design is the way in which the extremes of the natural environment are harnessed to create energy and recycle waste water. Each suite is like its own solar power plant, producing enough energy to not only power the air conditioning, and all the super-comforts of a luxury lodge, but also the water treatment and recycling systems.
Creating an ideal family environment, or an ideal option for groups of friends, the Star Dune Suite consists of two suites linked by a covered walkway, with a private lounge and dining space. The combined amenities of this extended accommodation provide the perfect space for one and all to enjoy. For those family groups, our &Beyond guides and lodge team will provide a host of fun and interactive children’s activities.

Serra Cafema Camp | Kaokoveld
Serra Cafema is a luxury camp with an idyllic setting in the riverine forest of the Kunene River far away from any hint of civilisation. With the exception of your luxurious accommodation.
Each en suite room is built using thatch, canvas and timber on a raised deck. Hovering above the water is your private verandah that looks across river to the Serra Cafema mountains of Angola. Elevated timber walkways wind through papyrus, palm and albida trees to the sublime living area of the main lodge, which has a swimming pool, lounge, dining area and a large open-air deck.
The landscape, flora, fauna, avifauna and customs of the local inhabitants combine to form an amazing Namibian experience. Activities - besides lazing on your private sunbed in the shade - include nature drives, interaction with the Himba villagers, walks, quad biking through the dunes, boating, birdwatching and fishing.
The region is inhabited by the Himba - hardy pastoralists who roam the desert and lead a life in harmony with the indigenous plants and animals that have adapted to the harsh conditions.
Large herds of gemsbok, springbok and wild ostrich are some of the more prominent animals; you may also see a number of endemic reptiles and the Kunene has plenty of hungry Nile crocodiles.

Informative nature drives in open game vehicles allow guests to experience the true Namib in its unbridled glory. A broad spectrum of wildlife, from desert-adapted oryx, springbok, and Hartmann’s mountain zebra are familiar sightings. While walking provides unique opportunities to see the smaller denizens of the desert, from the famous fairy circles to the desert chameleon.
For a truly remote experience, the vast expanse of the Marienfluss Valley offers a much-needed sense of space and enables new interpretation of the concept of beauty. A safari at Wilderness Serra Cafema will leave you in awe of the natural beauty of Namibia and its wildlife..
One of our highlights, guided quad bike excursions through the fragile environs, is conducted with the utmost care along specifically allocated pathways, so as to tread lightly on the dunes and preserve the unique and delicate habitat of this landscape.
In this isolated area, the Himba people continue their traditional semi-nomadic way of life and, when they are in the area, guests have an opportunity to learn about their lifestyle and customs.
Boating on the wondrous Kunene River provides our guests with the opportunity to venture through the lush riverside oases. Nile crocodiles and water birds seem out of place in this surreal, lunar-like landscape.
* Seasonal and water levels permitting.
Wilderness Serra Cafema’s prime location means that it has a unique combination of water and desert birds.
Little Ongava | Etosha South
With a maximum of six guests Little Ongava is indeed little. There is nothing little about the scale of luxury or the footprint of the suites, however.
Little Ongava is an addition to the exclusive and luxurious Ongava Lodge that goes a stride or two further in every department - giraffe strides that is.
The lodge has three chalets of pachidermal proportions. Panoramic French doors add a large verandah to your already sizeable bedroom and lounge. Your private sala, plunge pool and en suite bathroom look out over the waterhole, way down below. You are really quite high up here, perched on top of an impressive hill. Your view out over the bush below is spectacular as is everything else about this private lodge.
Your choice of dining venues are in the privacy of your own suite, under the stars or in the cosy thatched main lodge area. It is stylish and really rather refined in its rustic chic feel. There is also a lounge and game viewing deck, which again takes in the beauty of the pristine reserve.
This is easily one of the most intimate luxurious options for Etosha National Park. There really is nothing else that measures exactly to its claim to fame. You have a private guide and vehicle to enjoy activities on the private Ongava Reserve and into Etosha, whichever you decide. It's a wildlife extravaganza and a deluxe stay that will leave you bewildered on both fronts.

Guided afternoon/evening game drives take place on the private Ongava Game Reserve. The reserve has a diverse range of wildlife and is famed for its population of rhino and lion, as well as other game such as the endemic black-faced impala. Private vehicles can be booked at an extra cost (subject to availability).
A full- or half-day guided morning game drive in the Etosha National Park, Namibia’s prime savannah wilderness area (with a packed lunch on full day), allows you to see the massive salt-pan and perennial springs that provide the water required by the Park’s high-density big game population. Private vehicles can be booked at an extra cost (subject to availability).
Offered seasonally and subject to an available walking guide, the guided nature walks through the reserve will proudly showcase the abundant array of life, from the unusual plants to the arid-adapted animals with a chance of potentially approaching white rhino.
A hide is a fantastic place to while the hours away up close and personal with wildlife slaking its thirst at a waterhole. This arid environment where little water occurs makes this a popular drinking spot for game.
Guests can interface with science and research across the Ongava Game Reserve and part of this experience is an immersion into the world of natural history and science at the new Ongava Visitor Centre. With dozens of in-depth displays that feature information on the geology, animals, plants and ecological functioning of this fascinating region, guests are encouraged to meander through the self-guided exhibition area.
