The tented camps offer comfortable accommodation in two-man tents with simple camp beds and verandah. Separate toilet and shower tents are set up to the rear of the accommodation tents.
The food perhaps surprisingly, is thoroughly satisfying. Breakfasts are loaded with enough carbs to see you through the day’s exploring, packed lunches are light and tasty, and a filling flavoursome dinner is in store at the camp as the sun sets.
Camps may vary slightly from site to site but this is fairly indicative of the quality of accommodation you will enjoy.

An African Canvas have become involved in setting up this new Mursi Community Conservation Area. The Mursi are the most marginalised of all the tribal groups in the Omo Valley and this an opportunity for them to work towards improving their situation.
Tama Plains Camp offers comfortable tented accommodation in two-man tents with simple camp beds and veranda. Separate toilet and shower tents are set up to the rear of the tents.
The Camp is situated on a very wild and remote section of the river.
The remote Mursi villages are great for visiting and quite a bit of wildlife is in the area. Further afield from the camp on the river are big plains dotted with balanites trees, and these have a lot of zebra, hartebeest, buffalo and other wildlife. You have the opportunity to travel down river for a night of fly camping, travel through the Nyangatom and Hamar country, visiting the tribes living in these areas.
These expeditions are not your standard soft adventure safari, as with the majority of tailored African travels, travelling by boat, walking and vehicle. A journey into the Omo Basin is a kaleidoscope of culture and terrain, and allows intimate access to some of the more remote tribes. This is the birthplace of mankind where early hominids have been found dating back 2 million years – the crucial turning-point in the evolution of the human.

Probably one of the most unusual safaris in Africa, Wild Expeditions operates a combination of boat and land trips into one of the wildest corners of the continent, based from Lale’s Camp (formerly known as Lumale Tented Camp) on the eastern banks of the Omo River.

The Omo Delta, only accessible by boat, is an extremely remote area of islands and marshes inhabited by the Dassanech and crocodile-hunter El Molo tribes. The Dassanech villages are scattered among the islands and the villagers are untouched by the normal effects of tourism. We anticipate that only 50 people a year make it into the delta – and all of these are via Lale’s Camp.
Lale’s Camp offers comfortable tented accommodation in two-man tents with simple camp beds and veranda. Separate toilet and shower tents are set up to the rear of the tents.
