Explorations

Located 3,700 km ( 2,300 miles) from the continent, surrounded by the intense blue sea and under the watch of its gigantic Moai, Easter Island is a place that contains mysteries that are waiting to be revealed by explorers of all times, and where we take our travelers to discover all its corners. With over 30 explorations, either on foot, bike riding or on a boat, we offer our travelers a deep exploration experience that includes visiting places that are even unknown to some locals and feeling the history of the Rapa Nui culture with its landscape and archeological remains.

Our explorations in Easter Island have cultural shades, are always led by a local guide trained at our School of Guides, and are made in groups of a maximum of eight travelers. They include hikes and bike explorations among archaeological remains, volcanoes, beaches, prairies, and cliffs as well as snorkeling and scuba diving explorations where we explore under the world’s most pristine sea waters.

Our travelers have the possibility of choosing different explorations every day. These explorations have different lengths and difficulty levels. Full day explorations give us the privilege of having lunch at the seaside or at Anakena beach, just to name a few examples, while those that take half a day allow us to return to explora Rapa Nui to choose a second exploration during the afternoon.

We recommend a minimum of five nights to enjoy an exploration experience that will really show you what the Rapa Nui is like, although we are sure that once you discover some of its mysteries, you will want to extend your stay. A six-night program is a good option to explore all places and enjoy the local culture.

Our dishes have been designed to enable guests to perform various explorations and still feel light, agile, and healthy. Our dishes are always accompanied by a superb Chilean wine. We also carry a menu of Premium wines for those that would like to try other alternatives.

Explora Atacama is located in the Ayllu de Larache near the village of San Pedro de Atacama. The 17-hectare grounds comprise 20 indigenous plots, some with timeworn pathways and buildings that Explora is committed to preserving out of a profound respect for the area’s original inhabitants.

Surrounded by foxtail plants and lush native vegetation are four, interconnected, ambient-temperature pools – ideal for relaxing, building back strength and enjoying the deep desert silence. Near the pools are sauna and steam bath facilities as well as open-air Jacuzzis.

Just a short walk from the lodge is Quincho – an inviting BBQ area that includes a renovated, old traditional adobe house and its patio. Here, two to three times a week, all guests can get together for a feast accompanied by Andean music, song and dance performances by accomplished local artists.

Explorations

There are many different exploration possibilities within the Park, as diverse as their visitor’s preferences. Each itinerary is a unique experience and adventure, where every detail has its own charm. With over 40 explorations, we cover all areas in the Park either on foot, horseback, or by van. We provide our travelers the opportunity of discovering the landscape according to the choices they make daily. Our explorations, always led by a competent guide from our School of Guides, take place in groups of eight travelers at most and include walks towards crystal clear, woods of lenga trees, hiking to viewpoints and horseback riding through the Park’s pampas (grasslands) and rivers.

One of the most popular circuit is the mystic W that goes around the trails that surround the Paine Massif. This circuit requires at least five days for completion. Our explorations to the Torres base, the Grey glacier and the Valle del Francés (Frenchman’s Valley) follow part of this circuit. A good option is to combine some of these explorations with others to less familiar places within the Park, either walking or horseback riding.

Our walks have different length and difficulty levels. Those that take the full day give us the privilege of having lunch in the middle of nature, while those that take half a day allow us to come back to explora Patagonia to make a different exploration during the afternoon. Horseback riding are meant for beginners, advanced, and expert riders; therefore, there are no excuses for not living the Patagonian experience riding through the Park along our gauchos.
