Dhensa Boutique Resorts sits in the heart of the verdant and lush Punakha Valley. Flanked by thick pine forests, it overlooks the Punakha river and hundreds of paddy fields that stair-step down to the valley floor. It is surrounded by plentiful walking and trekking trails. From Dhensa Punakha, it is just a five-minute trek up the mountain to the magnificent Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang Nunnery, which houses one of the biggest bronze statues of Chenrigzig (Avalokiteshvara) in the country.
24 suites are set in six cottages, all with private balconies. They encapsulate the beauty of simplicity; the spacious interiors are deliberately understated in design. In the en-suite bathrooms, guests may relax in the tub set next to a French window dusk.
They offer guests a select menu of Western classics, traditional Asian favorites, and dishes that offer a taste of Bhutan. Where possible, the menu is created using seasonal, local and organic produce.

Elaborate hand-carved pillars and beautiful stonework exemplify the essence of Bhutan while tapered mud-brick walls provide insulation and restful silence. Leading Bhutan in energy efficiency, Naksel features Swedish under floor heating systems, LED lighting, and highly efficient water heaters, preheated by solar panels. Main construction materials for Naksel are indigenous and locally purchased. Traditional windows, mud-bricks, framework and even furniture were locally crafted here in Ngoba Village, connecting Naksel to the surrounding forest.
