Satara Camp is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp is surrounded by huge grass plains which are crossed by rivers at regular intervals. The plains attract game, which in turn attracts predators. Satara is well wooded and the birdlife is prolific. The camp has a wonderful lawn in front of the restaurant and cafeteria where you can relax and watch game at the waterhole on the other side of the fence. Accommodation includes over 100 campsites as well as a range of bungalows sleeping between 2 and 3 guests.

With its soothing riverine views and Lebombo Mountain skyline in the background, the Lower Sabie Restcamp hugs the banks of the perennial Sabie River in the Kruger National Park. The camp is an exhibition of the natural wealth of the area, surrounded by lush green vegetation and attracting a multitude of game which can easily be spotted from the deck overlooking the water. The river itself, enveloped by abundant foliage, is populated by cormorants, herons, kingfishers and storks.
In the lazy midday heat, lions can be found resting alongside the hippos which wallow on the riverbanks in the cool shade of large riverine trees like the Fever Tree, Round-leaved Teak and sycamore fig. Early morning game drives are an opportunity to spot lion, cheetah, elephant, rhino and buffalo among others, and there’s no better way to end a morning drive than by enjoying a sumptuous bush breakfast in idyllic settings. Nthandanyati Bird Hide overlooks the habitat of the Marabou and Black Storks, as well as the Grey Heron, Little Bee-eaters, Hammerkop and Open-billed Storks. Sunset drives show off the bush as it comes alive at night, with a myriad of nocturnal species which begin to hunt as the moon starts to rise.
Campsites, safari tents, a range of bungalows and a commodious guest house make up the accommodation at Lower Sabie camp. At night, the lodge screens entertaining films on wildlife and conservation and during the hot summer days, refreshing dips in the swimming pool will keep guests cool. From the deck of the Ingwe Restaurant visitors can enjoy an authentic African dining experience, accompanied by an excellent selection of South African wines, while taking in the view of the river over breakfast, lunch or dinner.
With nothing to do except indulge in the serenity of the landscape and the luxury provided by the camp, guests will be able to bask in a truly relaxing experience. Situated at the south western end of Schoongezicht farm (1065ha) in the western corner of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Walkers River Camp accommodates a maximum of 5 couples in private suites all with baths, outdoor showers, separate toilets and fan enclosed nets covering the beds. Accommodation is luxurious with 2 large fridge / freezers, gas stove, electric oven and microwave. The cozy sleeperwood bar has its own large wine/drinks fridge and CD music player. Obtaining supplies is simple with Hoedspruit 20 minutes away – Where you will find a Spar, Pick n Pay, LE BAMBA and a variety of Butchery shops with the best the Lowveld has to offer. Staff are on hand to clean, make beds, build the Boma fire and generally assist where possible. For most self catering guests braai’s and outdoor cooking using black pots is the norm. Regarding safety, Walkers River Camp is protected from larger game with an electric fence but smaller animals can gain access so caution is important.
