The roots of Kend's mansion date back to 1377, when the first landowners already managed the farm above the valley of the river Idrijca. The mighty building of the former Kend homestead in Spodnja Idrija, which has been developing since 1156 under the auspices of the pilgrimage church at Marija na Skalci, is today restored and revived in the spirit of times past.

All rooms are thoughtfully named after the former members of the Kenda family and decorated with elements and details originating from the local ethnological heritage. Table cloths, curtains and bed linen are decorated with beautiful hand-made Idrija lace. In each of the 11 beautifully equipped rooms you will find private facilities, phone, internet connection, mini bar, bath or shower, bathrobe, hairdryer and slippers.

The spacious master suite, named after the successful master Matevž from the Kend family, is located on the east side of the mansion, from where a beautiful view of the village and the pilgrimage church opens up. The elegant suite continues on the large terrace, which invites you to relax, read a good book or enjoy a glass of fine wine.

In the kitchen of Kend's mansion, we prepare dishes according to tried and tested ancient recipes, from fresh ingredients offered by the surrounding area. Home menus therefore vary according to the time of year. Žlikrofi, bakalca, bati, ajmoht, štruklji, specialties of the rediscovered Idrija cuisine, are a reflection of the centuries-old tradition and handicrafts of our grandmothers.

The first Michelin guide in Slovenia awarded the Kendov dvorec restaurant with chefs Klavdi Pirih and Franci Pivko a Michelin plate 2020 , a symbol of excellent cuisine, carefully prepared from fresh ingredients.
