Moremi spans the eastern end of the Okavango Delta. The habitat here is made up of a mosaic of landscapes: swamps, lagoons and floodplains unique to the Delta itself, wooded forests of acacias and mopanes, wide-open floodplains, canals fringed with papyrus, woodland and savannah. Because this habitat is extremely variable, the diversity of wildlife and birds is excellent. The Moremi reserve is part of one of the best animal reserves in Africa for game viewing and particularly that of the endangered wild dogs (Painted woolf). In this region resides a herd of a hundred buffaloes and it covers the territory of a few leopard. Herds of elephants roam between the mopane forests and the cool waters of the Okavango. Lechwe are one of the exceptional antelope species and are also commonly found here, while the rarer water gib antelope can be spotted along the canals of the Okavango Delta.
