Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin | Rincon de la Vieja National Park
1 Feb 2026 - 3 Feb 2026
Hacienda Guachipelin is located at the foot of the Rincon de la Vieja volcano, in the northwestern region of Guanacaste. The hacienda borders the popular Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Natural hot springs, virgin forests, jungle waterfalls and volcanic clay pots are just some of the many attractions that tourists can enjoy during their stay at the hacienda.
Hacienda Guachipelin is truly an ecotourism lodge for adventure travelers and nature lovers. Property is surrounded by lush gardens with native trees, exotic flowers, and many species of birds. You Will have the chance to get views of both the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano and the Pacific Ocean. The property is comprised of 1,600 hectares of land, most of which are reserved.
Centrally-located in our activities hub at Hacienda Guachipelin, stay in close proximity to our main reception area, restaurant, and pool in one of our Standard Rooms. These plentiful rooms meet and exceed all of the basics for comfort and quality for the whole family. Choose the type of bed configuration you need, from two double beds to two singles and a double.
The Standard Rooms complex borders a large green space where you can relax and enjoy the many bird species nesting and feeding in the tree tops. Each Standard Room is connected by a shared covered terrace and walk-way that takes you directly to the restaurant and activities center. These rooms are great for large groups who want to stay near to one another to make daily activity planning and organization a breeze.
Our superior rooms are set in a horseshoe-shaped formation around the property’s ancient and majestic Tempisque and Cedro Amargo trees. Each room walks out to a shared covered terrace that faces a large, open green space that is ideal for bird watching and photo opportunities.
Each Superior Room comes with two double beds or one queen-sized bed and an additional single bed can be included upon request. Superior Rooms are a more spacious version of the Standard Rooms with more of a luxury room feel. Warm wood finishes and local art reflect the heritage Guanacaste traditions that inspire our business model.
The crown jewels of accommodations at Hacienda Guachipelin are our two premier suites: El Cenízaro and El Cedro. Named after two of the most iconic giant tree types found in this region of Guanacaste, the Cedar and the Ash, these two private suites are equally as grand and majestic as their namesakes.
Each suite enjoys a spacious open-plan living area that is decorated with handcrafted Costa Rican furniture and art that depicts traditional Guanacaste ranch life. The suites come with a large terrace where you can take in the incredible view of Rincón de la Vieja Volcano framed by our lovely tropical gardens.
A perfect solution for families or close groups of friends wishing to share accommodations. Our Family Superior Rooms are located near the main reception area, near the swimming pool, restaurant, and activity center. Enjoy views of the tropical vegetation and diverse birdlife from your covered porch or hall.
Hacienda Guachipelin’s Legacy Suites feature traditional architecture and authentic handcrafted furniture in typical Guanacaste fashion. Follow the flower-lined paths from our reception area and relax in your deluxe accommodations. Our top-quality Legacy Suites are located away from the main guest rooms and activities. Those looking for a quieter, private, and comfortable experience when staying at Hacienda Guachipelin will want to stay in our Legacy Suites.
Equipped with either two Queen beds or two king-size beds, the large Legacy Suites are all about having the space to stretch out and relax. Hang in the hammock on your front terrace or rock away to the sound of the trees swaying in the wind on your private back balcony. Rich in minerals, thermal waters have rejuvenating and therapeutic properties that have been appreciated for centuries by people around the world. Experience the incredible hot springs of Rio Negro when you visit Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin and Rincon de la Vieja.
Beautiful and relaxing, the volcanic hot springs at Hacienda Guachipelin bubble up on the Rio Negro, naturally heated by the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano — the largest and most active volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Surrounded by a dense dry tropical forest, the Rio Negro Hot Springs area is beautiful and peaceful. The crystal clear waters of the river flow near the 10 pools built on the riverbank, filled with thermal waters rich in minerals, naturally heated in the depths of the volcano. You can access the pools on both banks of the river thanks to two suspension bridges.
For a rejuvenating treatment on your body, you can use the hot volcanic mud, which works just like a spa body masque. When the mud dries, you can wash it in the cold waters of the river before entering the thermal water pools again.
We have dressing rooms, bathrooms, and lockers at the entrance of the hot springs. From there, you walk 350 meters along a beautiful path in the woods until you reach the thermal springs.
La Hacienda Restaurant
Savor the flavors of authentic Costa Rican cuisine at Hacienda Guachipelin Restaurant. Delicious, fresh meals are lovingly prepared by our Costa Rican chefs following time-honored traditional recipes from our region of Guanacaste and Costa Rica.
We offer you farm-to-table homemade meals, producing on our ranch much of the food that we serve in our Hacienda Restaurant. What we don’t grow or raise ourselves, we source fresh from sustainable local vendors.
No artificial ingredients, MSG, canned foods or boxed juices are found in our kitchen. We make everything fresh, including using only fresh herbs and spices from our garden. We offer many possibilities for persons with dietary restrictions: gluten-free, non-dairy, vegetarian and vegan – we have many options.
