Karangoma is the result of a partnership with local elder Olatotse Sarefo and is rooted in Bukakhwe San and Hambukushu culture.
The name itself is a Sembukushu word describing ‘drum beating, ancestral healing, bringing good future to the tribe, or, when one is ill, cure dancing’. It is exactly this essence of healing and harmony that the camp seeks to offers its guests in their reconnection with nature and traditional cultures.
And what better place to do that than the productive and beautiful Okavango Delta where this small, exclusive camp offers the opportunity for some truly special game viewing and connection with the natural world. Karangoma’s 6 tented suites are hidden on a shaded peninsula with gorgeous views out across the floodplains.

Large, traditional-style Meru tent positioned 'landscape' in order to maximise views to the floodplain. Each tent consists of an open bedroom and lounge with floor to ceiling gauze facing the floodplain, as well as a separate en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers and a dual vanity. Each tent is styled around a traditional Hambukushu basketry design which has been modernised and printed on fabrics ranging from head board to cushions and cupboard backing. All power for geysers, fans, light and charging points is generated through solar arrays and evacuated tubes.

Consisting of two separate but closely connected rooms, the family tent sleeps 2 adults and 2 children (an extra bed can be added for a third child). Each of the rooms is en-suite with the design and layout of the adult room replicating that of the standard tents: an open bedroom and lounge with floor to ceiling gauze facing the floodplain, as well as a separate en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers and a dual vanity. The children's room is smaller and more compact and consists of two single beds. All geysers, fans and lighting operate on solar power lowering our environmental footprint, while each tent has charging points for all electronic equipment.

Camp Hwange | Central Hwange National Park
14 Nov 2025 - 16 Nov 2025
A rustic, traditional camp of 8 canvas-walled units beneath cooling thatch, Camp Hwange overlooks one of the natural waterholes that make this part of Hwange National Park special.
Founded in 2010 by a well-known professional guide, Camp Hwange’s location is strategic. This private concession in the central part of Hwange lies between the rugged mopane woodlands to the north and the sandy soil teak forests to the south-west; it’s location here on this open savannah ecotone means that game viewing is as diverse as its habitat types.
Aside from fantastic game viewing, especially in the drier months from April through to November, Camp Hwange offers an excellent guided experience with a strong emphasis on walking and tracking.

Matetsi Private Game Reserve offers the most exclusive game viewing experience in the Victoria Falls area. Here, surrounded by flourishing wilderness, phenomenal highlights include sightings such as massive herds of elephant and buffalo as well as the rare and majestic sable antelope. The reserve is also home to lion, spotted hyena, African wild dog and leopard.
Twice-daily game drives in the privacy of the concession are conducted in custom-fitted, luxury open-air safari vehicles in the early morning and late afternoon, accompanied by a knowledgeable, conservation-minded ranger and a tracker.
Game drives are a seminal safari moment in the bush. Whether you’re heading out at dawn or sunset, prepare to recalibrate your senses to the sounds, sights and spectacles of the bush. It may be that you get up close and personal to a pride of lion as they devour the remnants of their night’s kill or watch in awe as an early morning posse of elephant make their way down to the nearest watering hole amidst a chorus birdsong, grunts and scuffling dust. Chances are you’ll come with us as we track one of Matetsi’s established pack of wild dogs and experience their high-pitched keening as they hit the scent of prey. All this and more awaits you at Matetsi Victoria Falls.
