Manyara Ranch is a permanent tented camp, but has a mobile feel to it as nothing is over the top, rather, very comfortable and practical with a beautiful location and African feel. As it is on a private unfenced conservancy of 35,000 acres overlooking Lake Manyara.

The conservancy includes a huge ravine which leads eventually to the Lake. It is hope to myriad wildlife, seemingly “trapped” in the same way as in the Ngorongoro Crater. The ravine has a similar dramatic quality to that of the Crater. Your activities can include off road game driving, game walks, a night drives. The Ranch has its own stables for horse riding safaris. 6 large tents with sewn in canvas with integral shower, flush loo. 24/7 water and electricity. Easy access for Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks (30 minutes to main gate). Well-hosted dinners with communal dining, fine food and some theatre in the service

Ngorongoro Farm House is a spacious and comfortable lodge built on extensive grounds of a working farm, overlooking the Ngorongoro mountains view. The fresh produce of the farm supplies the kitchens and the food is delicious. 

It is 5 kms. From the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Park Gate and is built facing the Oldeani Volcano.

Ngorongoro Farm House was inaugurated on February 20th 2003, and is comprising 52 room cottages, 49 standard rooms and 3 suite rooms, all with ample space inside, built on the style of an old colonial farm and rustically decorated with local materials. A swimming pool overlooks the flowering gardens.

The Classic Mobile ( Non-Permanent) Camp

This offers a taste of exactly how our forefathers travelled in Africa. It is incredible to think that in the rushed and interconnected world we live in today, it is still possible to do this; to entirely escape, sit by the campfire under a starlit sky and not see another light anywhere nor hear another sound other than those of the African bush.

As this camp is not permanent it can easily pack up and move with the seasons or as the game moves on.

It moves typically about four times a year to keep track of the herds of the Great Migration as they cross the Serengeti to and from Kenya's Masai Mara.

The camp will be set up in the best campsite for your safari, and the camp will be erected there ready for you when you arrive.

The camp is self-sufficient, with its own fuel and water, and so does not depend on the proximity of these services when we plan itineraries.

All we have to consider is the wildlife density and the overall experience of being in the wild. This enables us to be, and we often are, far from other tour groups, roads, lights, and other signs of civilisation.

Being located in areas where there is no tourist activity for months at a time, there are often very few tracks or roads, resulting in minimal disturbance to the environment. Since the camp is not permanent, it leaves no structures or waste when it moves on; not even the campfire ash, nobody would know you were ever there.

The Tent

The custom-built tents are composed of four sections all under one roof veranda, bedroom, dressing area and shower and loo. The inner tent structure is 9 meters long (27 feet) and 3.6meters wide (12 feet). The tents are set up about 10 metres (30 feet) apart.

The Veranda

In the front, there is a covered veranda, which provides shade and a vantage point from which to enjoy the views and any wildlife visiting camp. This is furnished with a couple of comfy recliner chairs and a wooden side table.

The bedroom section

The bedroom section is a 16-square-metre (186 square ft) tent, which is more than two and a half meters high in the centre and a meter and seventy centimetres at the shoulders, giving all the room you need to spread out clothes, books and camera equipment.

For coolness, it has large netted windows on all sides, with rain flaps that can be zipped up easily. It is totally waterproof and has a sewn-in groundsheet of heavy plastic to keep out insects and other uninvited guests. It has an overhead solar light, and each bed has its own bedside light.

The dressing area

Next is a compact dressing and shaving area, complete with dressing table, large make-up mirror, a hanging hold-all and a washbasin.

Shower and toilet area

Finally, there are two sections at the back of the tent comprising the shower and toilet.

The short drop toilet is eco style typical of non-permanent camps. There is a traditional ceramic closet with a wooden seat. It does not flush but is dealt with in the traditional way with earth and shovel, and it is regularly sanitised by the tent steward.

Hot water for showers is available at all times. This area is lit by overhead solar lighting.

The tent steward will bring you refreshments and care for your laundry and other housekeeping needs.

Meals & Mess Tents

Arrangements include all meals, and "Drinks on the House “(mineral water, soft drinks, beers and house wines). Fresh snacks around the campfire every evening while you sit and relax, enjoy the stars, and chat with guests and staff about the day's adventures, and indulge in some local and visitor interaction

Meals are served in a large dining tent, with candles and wines at dinner - sometimes we choose to dine out under the stars with a barbecue over the campfire. It is a communal table, and your guide and other guests will join you

We can easily cater to special diets (and often do), including vegetarians, Kosher or Halal religious requirements, allergies, or other reasons.

There is also a separate tent as a lounge area/library

Staff

There is a high staff to guest ratio, including full tent service, waiters, chef, camp hands and camp manager. The number of staff is adjusted according to the party size but is works out around one on one.

At the Classic Mobile Camp, the tariff includes:
