Wilderness Kalahari Plains - disabled - according to supplier | Central Kalahari Game Reserve

1 May 2021 - 3 May 2021

In marked contrast to the camps in the Okavango, Wilderness Kalahari Plains sits on the edge of an immense pan. Large herds of gemsbok (oryx) and springbok arrive in the wake of the summer rains, attracting the attention of cheetahs and black-maned Kalahari lions. The annual transformations belie a sense of timelessness, and authentic San cultural experiences give insights into an ancient yet sustainable way of life.

Eight cool canvas guest tents (including one family unit) each feature a rooftop sleep-out platform, with unequalled views of the night sky. A refreshing pool and unique architecture make the desert temperatures much more comfortable.

INSIDER'S TIP: Journey back in time on a guided walk to learn about the fascinating and ancient lifestyle of the San people.

Wilderness Jacana | Okavango Delta

3 May 2021 - 5 May 2021

Wilderness Jacana is the archetypal Okavango Delta camp. Situated in the beautiful, expansive Jao Flats, Wilderness Jacana is a place where the rhythms of the arriving (and departing) annual inundation can be seen and felt. The year-round presence of water creates a tranquil environment shared with multitudes of birds – including sought-after ‘Okavango specials’ – and other wildlife which thrives in this unique, water-filled environment.

Wilderness Jacana features five guest tents, each with an outdoor shower. The main area, sheltered beneath giant sycamore fig trees, is the starting point for waterborne voyages of discovery by boat and mokoro (traditional dugout canoe).

INSIDER'S TIP: A safari at Wilderness Jacana is not complete without enjoying a mokoro ride along the tranquil channels of the Delta. Scan passing trees for the elusive Pel’s fishing-owl!

Wilderness Chitabe | Okavango Delta

5 May 2021 - 7 May 2021

Wilderness Chitabe’s location places it at the heart of a complex and beautiful mosaic of habitats, and this diversity results in Wilderness Chitabe being one of the most storied of all Botswana’s areas. Experienced, passionate guides are inspired by the intricate and dynamic landscapes to deliver wildlife experiences few other locations can match.

Eight elevated, meru-style guest tents provide the perfect human habitat, while a stroll along the elevated walkways connecting them to the main area is a safari experience in itself. Day and night drives, and guided walks, showcase the varied wildlife and landscapes of the Okavango.

Beyond the impressive wildlife encounters, guests can look forward to an elevated culinary journey which highlights the flavours of the Delta. The camp’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its eco-conscious design to its light “food-print” and operational ethos, with solar power, sustainable cooling systems, and conservation initiatives woven into its daily operations.

INSIDER'S TIP: Learn more about the African wild dog packs of the area; if you’re lucky you’ll see some of these endangered carnivores.
