Little Kulala is in a prime location on the western side of the private 37,000 hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve. Situated south of Sossusvlei this private reserve is the closest to Sossusvlei itself and offers magnificent dune scenery to the west and rugged Namib mountainous escarpment to the north. Little Kulala is small and exclusive, comprises 11 spacious thatched and canvas chalets or 'kulalas' - the local Oshiwambo word 'to sleep' - on elevated bleached wooden decks. All blend seamlessly into the timeless desert landscape. Each has its own private bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, bedroom and wrap-around veranda with a small plunge pool. An internal staircase leads to the flat rooftop with a 'skybed' for romantic star gazing.
The main area at Little Kulala has a relaxed lounge, dining room, bar, wine cellar, craft shop and swimming pool all under thatch. The interiors aim to provide an all natural experience with neutral sun bleached colours, gorgeous textures and natural light. The overall mood and feel is cool, serene, organic and sheltering.
Desert-adapted wildlife such as ostrich, springbok and gemsbok eke out an existence. Smaller creatures such as bat-eared fox and aardwolf can be seen at night in the cool desert air. Activities at Little Kulala include morning guided drives to the spectacular towering dunes of Sossusvlei, through their own private gate, guided drives and walks. Hot air ballooning are offered at an extra cost.

Damaraland is one of our favourite areas of Namibia - its innate beauty intensified by the solitude and the sense of freedom it engenders. This rugged mountain wilderness to the west of Etosha offers great photographic opportunities with its imposing granite domes, dramatic flat-topped mountains and vast panoramas. It's attraction is the peace and solitude rather than teeming herds of game. However you may be lucky enough to encounter some of the desert-dwelling elephant, the rare black rhino and other game that migrates across Damaraland according to the rains. It is highly dependent on recent rainfall patterns as these animals will journey way out of their normal region in search of water sources. However there are also herds of gemsbok, springbok, kudu (in the eastern parts), steenbok, mountain zebra and giraffe in the area. A visit to the fascinating rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, a prehistoric art gallery, and the fossilized tree trunks of the Petrified Forest, are equally absorbing.

The well-established Ongava Lodge is situated in the private 30,000 hectar Ongava Game Reserve along the southern boundary of Etosha National Park. Placed as it is close to the top of a hill in the foothills of the Ondundozonanandana range, the vantage point is beautiful and overlooks a well-frequented waterhole and the plains beyond.
Ongava Lodge offers luxury accommodation in 14 rock-and-thatch en-suite chalets. There are impressive views over the camp’s waterhole from the main lounge and dining areas and there is also an inviting pool to cool off in the heat of the day. Meals are either served in the main dining area under thatch or on the dining deck under the stars.
Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles into Etosha, as well as night drives and nature walks in their private reserve. With its resident White and Black Rhino, rhino tracking on foot is one of the most popular activities at Ongava. Guests also have the chance to see elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and the plains species. Keen birders may see various species from a Pygmy Falcon to some of Namibia's endemic species such as Hartlaub's Francolin, the Barecheeked Babbler or Ruppel's Parrot.
