Boating on the permanent, deep waters of the Okavango Delta is undoubtedly one of the most memorable safari experiences one can have. We board our boats and glide through narrow reed-lined channels, where anticipation builds with every passing moment. Suddenly, the waterways open up, revealing the majestic Xakanaxa Lagoon — one of the largest and most breathtaking lagoons in the entire Okavango Delta.

Heading northwards, the landscape unfolds in quiet splendour. The mirrored reflections of papyrus and clouds dance on the water's surface, punctuated by the gentle splash of the boat and the occasional call of an African fish eagle. Water lilies float delicately along our path, and small palm-fringed islands appear like mirages — often home to red lechwe, browsing elephants, hippos wallowing in the shallows, and the occasional crocodile basking on the banks.
