With a reputation for fantastic guiding, Oliver’s game drives take you to the heart of the action every time. Drives are offered twice daily in the cooler mornings and evenings. Most of our game drives make are in an open game-viewing vehicle – this lets you sit at different levels and gives everyone a ‘window’ seat. Our open vehicles have power points where you can recharge your devices, and are fitted with fridges to keep your drinks deliciously frosty. We do also have a closed game-viewing vehicle that may be used if available which is fitted with a cooler box for chilled beverages. Private vehicles are available at an additional cost. (Note that families with children under 12 must book a private game-viewing vehicle.)

Perched high on the wild side of the Ngorongoro Crater rim, Nomad’s Entamanu Ngorongoro is a thoughtfully designed refuge in this elemental place, from which to explore the unique highland environment. Surrounded by the soaring peaks of dormant volcanic hills and the ebb and flow of Maasai pastoralist life, this is a place to explore beyond the hustle and bustle of the tourist trail. Not only to visit the Crater, but to understand it as part of a wider environment.
Seven large en-suite cottage-style rooms and three two bedroom cottages made cosy with heaters, warm textiles and sheepskin look across the iconic Crater view, with a backdrop of ancient acacia trees. The style here is as unique as the location - everything carefully handcrafted locally to the highest standard.
There’s nothing tame about this location – the high altitude sun has some real heat and the wind can be biting and sometimes noisy. Nomad Tanzania have taken up the challenge to create a camp that makes the most of the extraordinary view while providing warmth and shelter from the elements, while being entirely removable. Every design detail has been considered in light of this, while still providing comfort in this elemental place.

There’s nothing tame about this location – the high altitude sun has some real heat and the wind can be biting and sometimes noisy. The seven cottage-style rooms, two of which are family units ideal for families with children, have been carefully designed with this in mind. Think textured wool, down duvets and heaters which provide warmth in the sleeping tents against the chilly nights. Big private verandas wrap around the front of the rooms and the ideal place to sit and marvel at the view. All of the rooms have views into the Crater, with immense Serengeti views to be enjoyed from the other side of camp. The interiors are of sustainably sourced wood and everything within the camp is locally sourced and made by talented Tanzanian artisans.

A big highlight of any stay here, the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa's most iconic wildlife destinations. The beauty of Entamanu Ngorongoro is that it sits within the Conservation area and only 30 minutes drive from the descent road into the Crater. An early start is highly recommended to enjoy the Crater before the majority of visitors make it in from other camps. You will set off with your guide and a packed breakfast and return to camp in time for lunch. Or, head out in the afternoon and enjoy sundowners on the rim on your way back to camp.
![](http://wetu.com/ImageHandler/h1160x432/64900/entamanu20.jpg)
Entamanu Ngorongoro offers guided walks along the rim of the Crater and in the surrounding highlands. You will head out with your guide and a member of the local Maasai community and learn all about medicinal plants, Maasai beliefs, as well as track any local wildlife that has wondered close to camp. Walks are all about soaking up the view at a slower pace and learning to appreciate the little things and they come highly recommended.
![](http://wetu.com/ImageHandler/h1160x432/64900/entamanu121.jpg)
Sometimes we drop round to see our Maasai neighbours, who are living a largely traditional life in the boma in the next valley, and still grazing their cattle in the conservation area. It will be just us and them, and a warm welcome, with insights into the pastoral life, from building huts to warrior ceremonies.

‘Intimate Camp Zebra’ is named after the Zebra which follow the Wildebeest during their world-famous migration. Like the animal it is named after, the camp tracks the Wildebeest to the North of the Serengeti National Park where the exciting river crossings take place to the South of the Serengeti eco-system where the calving season occurs.
‘Intimate Camp Zebra’ consists of 10 accommodation tents to include two 2-bedroomed family units, each of which can be used for single, double or triple occupancy. Each sleeping tent consists of a veranda, bedroom area, dressing area and ensuite shower and toilet and is provided with electricity for lighting as well as for charging personal electronic equipment.
The lounge and dining tents which are new for 2023 are comfortably laid out for rest and relaxation when guests are taking a break from exciting game drives. Evenings are spent around the campfire exchanging stories about the day’s events and making plans for the days ahead.
With two decades experience operating camps in the national parks, Intimate places has developed very strict policies with regards to the protection of the environments we operate in. All of these can be found in practice at Intimate Camp Zebra.

The main activity at Camp Zebra is going on exciting game drives to witness first hand the magnificent wildlife to be found in Tanzania. Since Camp Zebra was created to follow the great wildebeest migration around the Serengeti National Park, the Mara River crossings in the North of the park and the calving season in the South are both very important events for guests to witness. There are however many other species of animals to find and their discovery only adds to the overall excitement of a Safari.
