Guests have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be in close contact with a rhino. Witness the darting of this prehistoric animal and assist the wildlife team in notching the sedated rhino for identification and research purposes, before releasing it back into the wild. Your evening begins in the elegant Oyster Bar with pre-dinner drinks and live music from our resident musician, before being taken ‘behind the scenes’ where your culinary journey begins, with a tour of the working kitchen and your amuse bouche of Champagne and Canapes.
As the drama of this busy kitchen in ‘full service’ mode unfolds, watch as the Chefs prepare a delicious 5-course paired menu before your eyes. The Chef’s Table is available for groups of between six and 10 guests, from from Monday to Sunday for Dinner only.

Children between the ages of four and 12 years, have access to the supervised Holiday Club during their stay. .

The menu is an inspired combination of classic favourites, created by Bea Tollman, president and founder of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, the restaurant’s Signature Dishes and contemporary creations, inspired by current global trends.
Classic Grill Room touches include the authentic Gueridon service, where food is prepared and presented at the individual diner’s table and the Classic 1920’s Hors d’ Oeuvres Trolley, with an extensive range of 18 ‘old world’ appetizers.















The beautiful Ocean Terrace restaurant, with gorgeous views across the Indian Ocean, serves a Bistro-style menu and is perfect for casual, al fresco and family dining. With something to suit every palate favourite dishes include freshly baked pizzas from the wood-fire pizza oven, sustainably sourced seafood and a host of perennial favourites such as fish and chips. Also on offer in the Ocean Terrace, the incredible Curry Buffet, including authentic Tandoori Chicken, continues to attract fans from far and wide. Inspired by The Oyster Box’s original, colonial architecture with four magnificent tole and ceramic chandeliers purchased from the Savoy Hotel in London, natural sunlight and towering Palms, The Palm Court is the venue for the legendary High Tea each afternoon. High Tea is a lengthy, leisurely affair with live piano music a welcome addition to the occasion. Lion Camp | South Luangwa National Park































































Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park is one of the best National Parks in Africa for an authentic, truly African wilderness safari. Lion Camp is located in the northernmost reaches of the park, away from park gates, ensuring an unforgettable wildlife experience without the congestion of other vehicles and masses of people. Where guests are at-one with nature and its inhabitants. The camp is built on the water’s edge amongst woodlands and some large sausage and mahogany trees. The main lodge is a large open, spacious and airy thatched area with private nooks, seating areas and a pool. A well-stocked bar, real size snooker table, coffee station and reading area form part of this offering. The openness of the lodge affords spectacular views of the plains with the constant presence of wildlife. The original rondavels that were built during 1967, offering the first permanent accommodation to scouts and Norman Carr walking safaris have been restored and house the shop, wildlife library, small gym facility and a photographic studio, loved by all photographers as it offers a quiet spot with enough space and electrical points.

With incredible game viewing literally on our doorstep, all our luxury suites have been designed to maximise the views.
Our 8 luxury suites have canvas walls and a thatch roof. During the day, the netting at the front of the tent can be tied back to access a shaded private deck directly from the bedroom. Bathrooms are off to the side to provide more privacy, whilst ensuring an unobstructed view out.
Evening breeze cooling units have been installed for maximum comfort in the hotter months. These units along with the rest of the camp are solar-powered.


Our two private deluxe suites maximise the prime locations at the end of the camp.They are similar in design to the luxury suites but are larger and have secluded outdoor bathtubs.
The Deluxe Suite can be either twin or double and an extra bed can be added to accommodate a young child.
The honeymoon deluxe suite. It has one king-size bed and a large wrap-around deck with 180 degree views of the plain. It is the furthest suite from the main area of the camp and its seclusion makes it perfect for honeymoon couples. Our honeymoon suite in 2021 will become our most expensive suite as we added a beautiful "galaxy" sleep-out deck. This rate will also include a 1-night special picnic dinner with champagne at the suite.

We also offer game drives by spotlight after the sun goes down (returning to camp by 19:30). Walking Safaris are a very different option. They bring you in touch with the wilderness and tend to focus more on the minutiae of the park and the eco-system. It is a truly unforgettable experience striding out in country where you are on the same footing as a lion or elephant.

A guided tour of “the Victoria Falls”, situated merely 7km from Old Drift Lodge, is included in the nightly rate, but excludes park fees, which are payable direct. This excursion can be booked in conjunction with a lunch at the Lookout Café.

Morning and afternoon game drives in 4 x 4 game viewing vehicles will take you along the Zambezi River through the Zambezi National Park. Game that can be seen include elephants, buffalo, kudu, giraffe, zebra, eland, impala, warthogs, lion, wild dog and on occasions, cheetah. Tea baskets and snacks will be taken on the morning drives and Sundowners and snacks on the afternoon game drives.






Old Drift has two luxury 10 seater pontoon boats which will be used for morning and afternoon river safaris. Drinks and snacks will be provided on both safaris.






Morning and afternoon walking safaris will take place along the river but also in the spring lines of Zambezi National Park. Guests will be accompanied by a Professional Guide. Please note that children U 16 years are not permitted on walking safaris.





Guests have the option to enjoy a lunch at the Lookout Café, inclusive of drinks.
This can be booked in conjunction with the Tour of the Falls or for the adrenalin lovers, after they have taken part in any of the high wire activities that take place at the “Lookout”.
