The lodge is perfectly situated on the banks of a tributary of the Grumeti River. Using the natural bow shape of the river, and paying homage to the circular forms of a traditional Masai manyatta, the lodge unfolds to reveal an understated sense of luxury.

Walking into the guest area upon arrival is a real wow moment. Spacious decks are perfect for enjoying sundowners overlooking the river and the camp’s rim-flow swimming pool provides a view of the seasonal hippo pools below. This full-day trip to the shores of Lake Victoria promises a combination of wildlife adventures & incredible bird life, an insight into the life of a fishing community and a cultural connection to the Sukuma Tribe. A morning game drives through the Serengeti takes guests to the park gate. From here, it is a 20-minute drive to the lake shore, with the option to stop and learn about the work of the Africa Foundation at Lukungu Primary School. Individual Stone and Thatch Cottage

There are thirty four en-suite cottages at Ndutu which range from double, twins, triples and a quad room and all are built from local materials. The stone and thatch cottages are naturally cool due to the thick walls and they provide simple and comfortable accommodation. Each room has an en- suite bathroom with hot showers, sink and flushing toilet.

Where possible, honeymoon couples will be booked into the largest of these cottages.

All of the cottages have a private veranda overlooking the natural unfenced landscape of indigenous trees and shrubs outside your cottage door ensuring you are never far from the host of birds and mammals who call the Ndutu area home. The cottages extend from a warm and welcoming central dining, seating and bar or ‘mess’ area which has long been a gathering place for friends old and new.

We are gradually updating the cottages at Ndutu safari lodge by raising the roofs and updating the bathrooms. We are also interconnecting some of the cottages to make lovely family units with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms so families can be together but separate.

Game Drives through the Ndutu Plains Hot Air-Ballooning over the Serengeti

Travelling down from Kenya every year the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCAA) plays host to one of the world’s greats natural spectacles – The Great Migration (December to April). Over two million migratory animals made up of several species wildebeest, zebra, eland and Thompson gazelle move clockwise from Ngorongoro and the Southern Serengeti to the Northern Serengeti into Kenya and back.

This migration route happens because they follow the rains and therefore the new grasses which grow up rapidly. The Ndutu area is famed for its short grass plains which grow grass which is particularly rich in nutrients and sustains the migratory animals whilst they have their babies. This spectacle makes game driving during the migration season at Ndutu pretty extraordinary!

Predator season (April to December) is a great season to really enjoy the resident predators of Ndutu and indeed Ndutu is a favourite of expert guides, scientists and biologists for its high numbers of cats including lion, leopard, cheetah, civet, serval, wild cat and caracal. The resident predators are territorial and so once they have had their young they remain at Ndutu in the local marsh areas which stay wet all year round and are an essential fresh water source for the herbivores therefore attracting predators. The marshes also serve as the ideal place for cheetah and lion to hide their offspring from danger. You can enjoy sightings of all three species of jackal including the rarely seen side-striped jackal and in the late afternoons you may glimpse striped hyena at the lake shore.

The wonderful thing about doing a game drive during this dry season is that the behaviours of these animals are more visible due to the lack of vegetation. The variety of habitats allows plenty of places to explore and you often find yourself having private encounters with predators.

Guides and vehicles are available on request and upon availability. Game drives can be carried out between 6am - 7pm.

Located above the ring of the Ngorongoro crater, Pakulala Safari Camp is an exclusive campsite offering a unique experience and spectacular views of the crater caldera. The camp consists of eleven canvas tents decorated in an elegant style reminiscing the late 19th century safaris. On the path of an annual elephant migration, Elewana Tarangire Treetops sits alone in a 312km2 community wildlife area bordering Tarangire National Park, amid a landscape of rolling and baobab-studded hills. Our elevated "treehouse" suites are perched high up with views over the adjacent baobab and marula trees, giving Elewana Tarangire Treetops an adventurous and exotic feel.

Twenty suites, each 65 sq metres with a private balcony, are lavishly furnished. Natural materials are blended with contemporary Africana décor, to provide guests with a unique and most memorable safari experience.

Tarangire National Park is transected by the Tarangire River which in the dry season becomes a life source for an abundance of animals, including thousands of elephant.
