The three to four-hour drive will bring travellers to a variety of must see sights that include: The National Museum, Railway Museum, KICC (Kenyatta International Conference Centre), National Archives and the Parliament Building.

Understand the history and environment of Kenyan tribes at the Bomas of Kenya, the cultural centre in Langata, located near the main gate of the Nairobi National Park. The Bomas, (homesteads) are displayed as various traditional villages that belong to several tribes, in order to demonstrate the remarkable diverse culture that embodies Kenya.

Known as one of the largest urban gazetted forests in the world, the Karura Forest Reserve sits in the northern section of the city, just a 15 minute drive from the hotel. With over one thousand hectares, it is a extraordinary display of Kenyan nature. Visitors can partake in forest walks, bird watching, butterfly watching, cycling, running and picnicking. The daily hours are from 6:00am until 6:00pm.

Just a seven-minute drive from the hotel, enjoy the 30-hectare forest reserve that is the Nairobi Arboretum. A host to more than 300 species, the arboretum holds over 100 migrant and resident birds, as well as exotic and indigenous tree species and Sykes and Vervet monkeys. Learn about the local trees, birds, butterflies and more from 6:00am until 6:15pm.

The two remaining rhinos now live in the 700-acre rhino enclosure. Here, visitors have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet these remarkable rhinos up close and personal and to hear their amazing story from the keepers that look after them 24/7. Available for an hour at 08:30, 11:00, 15:00, and 16:30hrs.

The little lake in front of Kicheche Laikipia Camp offers the unique opportunity of canoeing just
in the middle of the conservancy with a chance of viewing the animals coming to drink.

Watching wildlife at close range, but without encroachingontheirspace,isendlesslyfascinating and our guides’ instincts and experience will provide superb photo opportunities of wild animals. Our safari customized 4WD vehicles are designed to give ever a perfect view.

Night Game Drives are offered to enable guests the chance to observe lesser seen nocturnal species. Our vehicles are fitted with a hand held filtered spotlight and resident species include aardvark, genet, bat-eared fox, striped hyena, serval, honey badger, civet and zorilla.

A different perspective is gained through escorted walks on the savannah. Our interpretive guides will point out the spoor of a leopard, the nest of a rare bird or signs of recent migration activity that would pass unnoticed by the eyes of strangers.

It is a very different mode of safari on a bicycle, an experience you will remember! Includes a short game drive en-route to the designated riding area and we adapt our ride to your fitness. Allow 3 hours for the execution.

Black rhino Baraka lives in what used to be Morani’s 100-acre enclosure, carrying the flag for his predecessor. Baraka was born in the wild in Ol Pejeta, but lost sight in both eyes due to a fight and then a cataract. Baraka now lives in the enclosure, located next to the Morani Information Centre, for his own safety, and has taken to his new role as rhino ambassador.

A full-day trip to the beautiful Ngare Ndare Forest outside Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Depart morning from camp, guided walk in the forest to the waterfall & natural pool, bird watching, canopy walk, picnic lunch. Back to camp by sunset.

Wildlife Educational Centre contains a range of wildlife exhibits and background on the Conservancy and it’s operations, an interesting stop for children and adults alike.

Enjoy a unique opportunity of viewing chimpanzees and learn more about the day to day care of the chimpanzees in our care. Chimpanzees are not indigenous to Kenya and Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is the only

place to see them in Kenya.

Interact with the dog keepers and learn about what it takes to look after the specially trained canine team. Guests are encouraged to try and evade the sniffer dogs, not only is this great fun, but it helps to offer genuine training for the dogs.

We visit both inside the Masai Mara National Reserve and outside, in our Olderkesi Conservancy. You can do either morning, evening or all day game drives. Please note that viewing the main migration river crossings requires a full day out as they are located some way from camp. We believe that wildlife viewing should be a private , special and un-rushed experience.

All walks are led by a professional guide and accompanied by a licensed gun bearer. Bush walks can start from camp or can be a part of a game drive. They give you the

chance to view the unique ecosystem from a completely different perspective, and to learn about botany and entomology, and how to interpret animal tracks and signs.

The walk can be as long or as short as you wish.

Dinner is setup out in the conservancy, under the vast African sky; with sundowners by the fire to start, followed by a three course meal, accompanied by the fantastic sounds of the wilderness at night.

We have a number of treatments available at the Spa which is located near the main Mess Tent area. We only use organic ingredients and allow our guests to choose the ingredients to make their spa experience truly bespoke.

The 1920s Camp and the Bush Villa each have their own swimming pools for guests to enjoy as and when they wish.

You are given packets of Seedballs and as you drive or walk on your safari, please throw the seedballs out, one at a time. They are encased in a special coating which will activate at the right time for germination. Your packet contains approximately 225 indegenous tree, or grass or plant or flower seeds that are critical to the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem.

We are replenishing the tree species that are endangered in our area. Indirectly, we are also supporting species such as elephants, butterflies, bees and other insect life that is key to the biodiversity in this area. This year, our aim is to plant 30,000 indigenous trees. Your complimentary packet will help us get towards our target, thank you for helping our local ecosystem and helping Cottars become net positive!

Spend a few hours visiting our local primary school, you will get to meet the children and sit in on a few classes if you wish, or join in on the daily football game. Something for those seeking a more engaging and immersive safari experience.

Children and families are invited to learn the ways of a warrior with the African bush as your classroom. A session includes spear throwing ; bow and arrow practice; Maasai jumping, dancing and singing and tracking, depending on age and ability.

After a day out game driving, soak and relax in our unique canvas bush bath: A traditional style canvas bath is set up in the open-air outside your tent, as you bathe, you can enjoy the wild beauty of the Masai Mara.

Under the vast African sky, while enjoying an evening cocktails by the fire, guests get to enjoy the time-honoured celebration of song and dance by our local Maasai warriors.

Visit a Maasai Village and experience their rich culture. This involves a trip to their Manyattas (mud huts), village setup (security, healthcare, education and management of resources e.g. meals, water, firewood), local market with wonderful Maasai artefacts/attire for sale, their live-stock and much more. You will learn about ancient traditions as well as contemporary struggles and adaptations to modern life.
