Ol Lentille | Laikipia
1 Apr 2025 - 4 Apr 2025
Ol Lentille, named after Laikipia's highest peak, is a lodge that is proud to be different. Located in a remote and beautiful part of Laikipia, guests enjoy the dramatic landscape and pristine wilderness of a 40,000-acre private conservancy which is home to many wildlife species. Game drives, walks (gentle or vigorous), camel safaris and even quad biking are some of the many activities at Ol Lentille.
Ol Lentille is professionally managed but community owned. Here you stop being a tourist and become a guest of the community. Guests are offered deep and authentic access to Maasai and Samburu culture, and to the key events of their life: a chat with elders in a village, a wedding, a warrior initiation, "singing wells'.
We have four very special villas, recently renovated with luxurious and contemporary interiors, each coming with its own house staff, guide and safari vehicle. With only 8 rooms in total, we can accommodate 16 guests (a few more with extra beds). All activities and meals are private.

- Facilities
The largest of Ol Lentille's houses, Boscia is a huge three bedroom villa with multiple common areas for people to congregate in, including a large living room with a fireplace.
Named after the boscia (shepherd's) tree, its decor is luxurious but minimalist, with black and white tones dominating.
It has a large wrap-around deck with a plunge pool, and a private outdoor area with a barbecue pit. There are spectacular views of the rugged peaks of Laikipia from most parts of the house.
Acacia is a two-bedroom thatched roof house, built into the mountainside, with large rocks blending spectacularly into the house.
Its decor is inspired by the acacia tree, with accents of gold and blue gracing its plush interiors.
The house has two decks overlooking a watering hole often visited by elephants.
Acacia can also be booked as two separate suites, each including its own dining and lounging areas.
Aloe is a large villa built on two floors, with two large bedrooms on the upper floor, and dining and living areas on the ground floor, with a fireplace. Each of the bedrooms has a large private terrace, accessed through double glass doors and also features a dressing room, sunken bath, and a roofless shower room.
The ground floor terrace has a shaded outdoor dining area and plunge pool.
Its luxurious interiors are inspired by the aloe plant, and feature accents of red.
Carissa is hidden on the property's highest point, with breathtaking 280 degree views of Laikipia's rugged landscape. The bedroom comes with a round bed and floor to ceiling windows. There is a sunken outdoor bathtub in the rocks, often with eagles flying above you, a lounge with a fireplace, a dining room, and a large wrap-around terrace.
The villa's gorgeous interiors are inspired by the carissa tree, and feature pops of green and blue.

Our experienced guides knows the area intimately and there is plenty of game to see within the Enonkishu, Lemek and Ol Chorro Oiruwa conservancies, and very few other safari vehicles. Big cats, elephants and plains game are commonly seen within a 15 minute drive from the house, and there are more than 350 species of birds to discover. We follow a strict Code of Conduct in the Northern Mara Conservancies, where wildlife takes priority and sightings never have more than 5 cars. Game drives are shared in open-sided vehicles.
House in the Wild has a herd of 16 well-mannered horses based at the Mara Training Centre, a 15 minute drive from the lodge. A range of rides are on offer to suit all abilities. From easy rides in the Naretoi sanctuary, passing giraffe and zebra, to more energetic canters through the Enonkishu conservancy, this is a magical way to experience the spirit of the wild. Early morning is the best time to enjoy the wildlife and ride before the heat of the day, culminating in a beautiful bush breakfast.
Note. there is a weight limit of 85kgs for riders, and riding hats and chaps will be provided. Maximum 8 guests per ride.
Minimum age of 12 yrs and good riding competence for riding in the conservancy. Younger children can enjoy a ride around the farm.
On the edge of Kileleoni hill in Ol Chorro, guests can experience an extraordinary chance to walk with rhinos. There are two white rhinos in the Rhino Sanctuary and you will be accompanied and guided on distance and safety by armed rangers. The rhinos are wild but habituated to visitors, named Queen Elizabeth and Kofi Annan, and are under 24hr watch and care by the rangers for their safety.
Ride alongside the giraffe and zebra of Naretoi, or venture down to the Mara Training Centre where you can visit the Wild Shamba or see the women beading. Or explore the nearby villages and farmland, often greeted by children who'll run alongside your bike with huge smiles!
Visit to our Mara Training Centre founded by Tarquin and Lippa Wood. It is a hub of creativity, storytelling, teaching and sharing, where you can learn about rangeland management and our efforts to work with local communities to restore and maintain the natural environment through Sustainable Rangeland Management.
Meet the team behind the Women in the Wild, where you may find them beading, soap making, candle making or planting seedlings, and learn how to do traditional Maasai beading if you like. And explore the one acre Wild Shamba, our vegetable garden where produce is lovingly grown to serve at House in the Wild.
House in the Wild loves sharing the magic of safari with children of all ages, and creating amazing memories for the whole family to share. Our team can teach children Maasai skills and games, from jumping competitions to learning how to use a bow and arrow, milking cows and beadwork. There are lawn games - badminton, volleyball and ping pong, and of course the swimming pool to splash in! On game drives, our guides will engage children of any age to engage their curiosity to inspire a new generation of conservationists and wildlife lovers.
A walking safari is the perfect way to awaken the senses, hearing the breeze rustle through the grass, listen to bird calls and seek them out with your binoculars, see the tracks in the earth of hoof or paw prints and learn about them from your guide.
An authentic experience where our local Maasai guide takes you to his family home or the Emarti Primary and Secondary Schools are 5 km away from the main farm gate, crossing over the river at the Emarti Bridge. With over 700 children to visit guests always get a warm welcome.
Our team of Maasai watchmen on the farm are also talented singers and dancers, and always willing to perform their latest traditional hit at sundown on the lawn by the house.
Fishing in the Mara River – have a go after a morning game drive or over sunset on the edge of the Mara River fishing for catfish. If you catch it, take a picture and release it!
Our Cuisine
House in the Wild is very proud of the fact that all of the fresh veggies, eggs, milk, cream and baked goods are produced by the farm or the family. We have healthy and delicious ingredients delivered to our kitchen from the farm daily, to create sumptuous wholesome meals. Dining is either under the stars on a table by the campfire or in the dining area by the fire... Bush dinners and brunches can also be prepared and packed picnics for those wanting a full day of game driving.
