Following a leisurely breakfast, don a hat and sunscreen before taking a short stroll down to our boat where The Club’s fishing tackle and bait are ready and waiting. A cooler box is available to quench your thirst with fishing trips returning to The Club before lunch.
Best: June to September & early mornings in November (not Available: December to February). Included in Fully Inclusive Rate only.
In the later afternoon, enjoy a leisurely sundowner cruise up the Zambezi.
When the captain sees fit he will switch off the engine and let the boat drift quietly downstream passing the odd elephant, hippo or crocodile and an abundance of colourful bird life. The sunsets are particularly beautiful during the drier months.
Enjoy the snacks and drinks provided. It is wise to take a jersey or anorak as an evening breeze can be chilly. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars too. The trip arrives back at The Club just after sunset! *(This activity is included in all rates).
Just half an hour’s drive from The River Club are the mighty Victoria Falls. Known by the locals as ‘Mosi–oa-Tunya’ (meaning ‘the smoke that thunders’) as the spray and the sound of the Falls can be seen and heard from many miles away.
The Zambian side of the falls provides a completely different vantage from that of the Zimbabwean side, and during high water levels is certainly the best place to be.
Visit an authentic village to experience life as it really is in rural Africa. A short drive takes you to a local village where you will be shown all aspects of African village life. Visits to either Simonga or Sinde Villages allow guests to spend quality time in the environment of these traditional African settlements, meeting local residents and visiting children at their school.
There are very few people who don’t come away from the experience feeling enriched by the time spent there. Allow approximately one hour at the village.
The highlight of a game viewing trip in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park is the chance of seeing White Rhino, some of the only remaining in Zambia. The park is home to a wide variety of animals including giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala, elephants and buffalo. Drives are approximately three hours long.
Dine the luxurious comfort of an air-conditioned vintage, dinner steam train as you travel along this section of the famed “Cape to Cairo” route. Your journey takes you to the bridge at Victoria Falls to gaze upon the Falls in the evening before your five-course dinner is served.
Professionally guided canoe safaris take you through the narrow channels on the incredible Zambezi River where you will experience breathtaking scenery and incredible game viewing. With a choice of a half day or full day canoeing excursion, the experience can be as active as you wish.
People travel to Africa from all over the world to see the Schalow’s Loerie and the African Finfoot, residents at The Club. Other birds to try and spot in the area include the African Skimmer and native Fish Eagle whilst the Taita Falcon and Black Eagle can be found in the gorges below the Victoria Falls.
For our younger guests, we offer a Kids @ The Club adventure bag on arrival which includes outdoor games, activities and tips on exploring our 50 acres. The Club is an ideal retreat to create lasting family memories.
The most scenic bridge dive in the world, bungee jumping at Victoria Falls is high on our list of adventure activities in Livingstone. Take the leap and see the gorge from a different angle.
*Bridge swing and zipline also available.
Get the adrenaline pumping while surfing the rapids of the Zambezi. White water rafting at Victoria Falls is sure to get the heart racing in this unrivalled setting.
*Available from July - January for guests 15yrs and older.
In your choice of Microlight or Helicopter, get a bird's eye view of this expansive natural wonder as you fly over Victoria Falls. This experience is known as the 'Flight of Angels' through the 'smoke that thunders' and is an opportunity not to be missed.
Take a trip back in time with a historic tour of the bridge at the Falls. There is 100 years of Victorian engineering to uncover and insight into the heart of Cecil John Rhodes’ vision of a Cape to Cairo railway.
The Elephant Café, awarded Zambia’s Best New Restaurant 2016, is a tented exclusive restaurant built on a wooden deck in the Zambezi River, upstream from Victoria Falls in Livingstone, Zambia. Sitting only 24 people, this exclusive Livingstone restaurant is the centre point of a riverside location that has been home to a herd of hand-reared elephants for many years.
