Walking Trails at Shindzela Game Drives at Shindzela

Shindzela offers walking trails of about 2.5-3 hours in the morning instead of doing a game drive. Each walking trail is lead by a qualified lead and back up trails guide. The walking safaris are mainly focused on nature as a whole, focusing on fauna and flora as well as animal tracks, insects, bird life and the occasional encounter with one of the Big five. No children under the age of 16 years are allowed on these trails.

Shindzela offers morning and afternoon/evening game drives of about 3-3.5 hours. Shindzela conducts their safaris in 4x4 Landrover vehicles (seating 8 guests per vehicle max) and guests are taken out by professional qualified field guides. Prior to each safari activity guests are given a thorough safety briefing before embarking on their safari adventure.

Depending on what you would like to see, we have various locations and different habitats to look for that one feathered friend you would like to target. Our birding excursions are possible at the following locations; Mapungubwe National Park (both the Western and Eastern sections), Mapesu Private Game Reserve, Scroda Dam, and San Maria Wetlands. Mapungubwe National Park has 383 recorded Bird species and over 433 in our region, including the elusive Pel’s fishing owl and the visiting broad-billed rollers.

Ceimson-breasted shrike Credit: Federico De Lellis The crimson-breasted shrike or the crimson-breasted gonolek, or the crimson-breasted boubou, is a southern African bird. It has black upper parts with a white flash on the wing, and bright scarlet underparts. The International Union for Conservation of Nature has rated it as a "least-concern species".

You will join us in the western section of Mapungubwe National park for this game drive. Here we have the opportunity to spend some quality time at Maloutswa hide overlooking the waterhole and the animal activities surrounding it. The hide offers a great way to experience wildlife - big and small without interrupting their daily activities and natural behaviour.

Tucked away in the bushveld in a serene setting, Phokoje Bush Lodge is a cosy hideaway situated 9 kilometres away from Phikwe Square that serves as the ideal rest stop for travellers on the route to Maun, Chobe and the Okavango. Baobab Forest Sundowner Ntwetwe Salt Pan Adventure & Meerkat Visit

Set in the pristine Okavango Delta, Oddballs Enclave is located on the edge of Chief’s Island and is accessible only by light aircraft. This solar-powered Camp contains Meeru style Canvas tents, rustically designed on raised wooden decks, a private bathroom, an outdoor bucket shower, and hot and cold running water. Guest areas have a variety of comfortable seating options, and a raised viewing deck overlooking the sweep of the Delta – the perfect place to watch the sun or moon rise and view whatever wildlife may be visiting.
