aha Lesedi African Lodge and Cultural village is located in the heart of the African bushveld and rocky hills, in the Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site, only 45 minutes’ drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria. An enthralling opportunity to experience the mystical cultures and traditions of the people of Africa, and visit five traditional homesteads, each inhabited by Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi, Basotho and Ndebele tribes who live according to tribal folklore and traditions of their ancestors.
Accommodation is unique, and these traditionally styled rooms, give an insight into rural African lifestyles, while still enjoying all creature comforts. A gastronomic feast of traditional dishes from the far corners of Africa in its three-tiered restaurant, Nyama Choma, which means the Great African Feast, forms part of the cultural experience. Five Conference venues and African team building activities make Lesedi an ideal venue for corporate outings with a difference.

The Royal Hotel, situated in Pilgrim's Rest, was impeccably restored, to reflect true late Victorian style.
It is perhaps one of South Africa's best-known hotels. This national monument is famous for its atmosphere and world-class service and facilities.
Composed of ten authentic buildings dating back to the latter part of the nineteenth century, the hotel offers charming en-suite bedrooms.
Declared a goldfield in 1873, Pilgrim's Rest became a cosmopolitan centre of activity in South Africa. Today it stands as a legacy to these pioneers. The town was proclaimed a National Monument in 1986.
Trapped in a time warp, the lounge reflects an epoch of time honoured hospitality and elegance so typical of the late Victorian era. Upon entering the Royal Hotel, visitors are immediately taken on a nostalgia filled trip into the past.
The reception walls are lined with the most interesting photographs and artefacts providing vivid glimpses of Pilgrim's Rest's history. This theme is carried forward into the lounge as well as the very famous public bar.
The restaurant is informal and serves hearty old-fashioned meals in a historical atmosphere in keeping with the rest of the Hotel. Enjoying a meal outside while taking in the scenery, is an experience worthwhile.
The Royal Hotel is the centre attraction of Pilgrim's Rest. From here visitors can plan all daily excursions and then come home to a relaxing evening of Victorian comfort.

Summerfields is a family-owned & managed agri-tourism business in Hazyview, Mpumalanga, close to the famous Kruger National Park and the magnificent Blyde River Canyon. The owners have integrated farming of macadamia nuts, litchis and passion fruit with the natural beauty of the Sabie River Valley, and created a small boutique lodge, spa and restaurants with the aim of providing the ultimate romantic getaway experience to guests that represents excellent value for money.
Summerfields is more than a convenient springboard to big five game viewing or a daytrip around the Panorama route with its waterfalls, escarpment views and historic sites such as Pilgrims Rest. It is a place to rest, recover and rejuvenate your senses.
Summerfields is a food destination with top Cape Town chefs in attendance – magnificent breakfast spreads, tapas for lazy lunches on the Sabie River, and beautifully crafted fine dinners in a romantic setting in the Kitchen. Service is first world, with internationally trained sommeliers and a speciality wine list.
The spa at Summerfields is unlike any other – adorned with roses, and making use of natural products, such as macadamia oils, avo facials and banana wraps in open-air pavilions where birdsong and the sounds of nature are the background music.
We are temporarily only serving breakfast from 08h00 - 12h00.

From Hazyview, the tour begins as it climbs towards the town of Graskop, and the southernmost point of the Blyde River Canyon. The Panorama Route encompasses some spectacular scenery, with breathtaking views of the Blyde River Canyon, and out over the endless Lowveld beyond. We take guests along the edge of the escarpment, to look out points offering magnificent views, including God’s Window, Wonderview and the Three Rondawels. Along the route we visit the famous Bourke’s Luck Potholes – deep cylindrical cavities formed by thousands of years of water erosion at the confluence of the Blyde and Treur Rivers. Pilgrim’s Rest is well worth a visit. This old mining town was established during the heady days of the gold rush in the late 1800’s, and the whole town is now lovingly preserved as a national monument. At lunchtime the tour will stop back in Graskop so that guests can have lunch at a restaurant, and if time permits, can spend a while browsing in local shops or along the pavements. Street vendors sell an amazing variety of goods – from nuts and fruit to beaded necklaces and carved wooden animals. South of Graskop, where the Sabie River rises, and numerous waterfalls tumble down the mountains, we will visit the beautiful Berlin Falls and Lisbon Falls on the way back to Hazyview.
The Kruger National Park is South Africa’s largest game reserve, and one of the most respected in the world. Our highly experienced field guides are passionate about the bush, and they will share their knowledge of the 147 species of mammals, more than 500 species of birds and 336 species of trees which make this 2 million hectare space their home, with our guests. The recorded presence of man – including bushman rock paintings and archaeological sites, are conserved along with the Park’s natural assets. If time permits, at least one of these will be included in the trip. From an Open Safari Vehicle guests can smell the dust and the sun-warmed grass, listen to the cicadas and the cry of the Fish Eagles, and enjoy the heat of an African day. However we are also able to offer a safari in a closed, air-conditioned vehicle. This is a pleasant and comfortable option especially in very hot weather, for older guests, and for families travelling with young children.
Our Farm Tour starts in our impressive vegetable garden, where you will learn about our farm-to-table philosophy and acquire some useful tips on how to produce your own vegetables. A visit to our inspiring rose garden will follow, before visiting our gin distillery, to see how we craft our Duke Gin from our litchis. After a walk trough our orchards of macadamia and litchi trees, you will stop at our award-wining River Café for a well-deserved lunch.
Summerfields River Cafe
Our River Café, situated beside the river serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
Breakfast consists of a fresh continental breakfast that includes homemade bread, croissants, fruit and vegetable juices. Hot breakfast options are available too.
Lunch is relaxed Tapas- style with lots of small dishes to choose from.
Our a la carte dinner is available from 18h00 - 22h00 daily.
All vegetables are taken fresh from our own organic nursery, where everything is grown as close to its natural, original form as possible.

Among the rolling hills of Zululand, cut into the rock face, lies Isandlwana Lodge, overlooking the battlefield and plains where the Zulus defeated the British in the first major battle of the Anglo-Zulu war on 22 January 1879. The lodge has been built in the shape of a shield, with a thatched roof and rock walls resembling a traditional Zulu kraal. Each of the columns that support the roof come from the old West Street Pier in Durban, and is named after a Zulu commander or significant person in the chain of command during the Anglo-Zulu War.
Situated in the very heart of the historic location where remarkable events took place, Isandlwana reverberates with Zulu history and culture, reflected not only in the décor throughout the public areas and the twelve luxury bedrooms, but also in the sweeping panoramas of the plains which are devoid of development, and likely to look exactly as they did over 130 years ago. The magnificent views are pervasive, whether you’re sipping on sundowners on the upper veranda, enjoying the privacy of your own balcony, or indulging in a skillfully prepared meal in the high ceilinged dining room. .
