Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge is remotely located in the Wogakuria Hills of the Northern Serengeti. A scenic region characterized by grassy rolling hills, open woodland and tree-lined watercourses, it is a habitat that attracts wildlife throughout the year. Lemala Kuria Hills is in close proximity to the Mara River on the Serengeti’s border with Kenya’s Maasai Mara, so is also within the main corridor of the world-famous wildebeest migration between July and October.
Our lodge offers unrivalled luxury and sophistication, where you can choose to either relax in style or enjoy the Northern Serengeti’s excellent game viewing (without the crowds) with our superb guides in 4×4 vehicles.
There are several dining options at the lodge or out in the bush, and delicious meals include a choice of starters, main courses, desserts and house drinks. Afternoon tea is served before your game drive, and cocktails at sunset are taken on one of the kopjes with distant views of the Isuria Escarpment in the Maasai Mara. The Melengali Spa is in a separate tent where you can indulge in massages and manicures in a peaceful, natural setting.

You can enjoy game drives from here on a shared or on exclusive use basis. We use a combination of open and closed 4 x 4 Land Cruiser vehicles. Very reliable, comfortable and well-maintained with charging facilities, fridge on board, photography stabilizing bean bags, vehicle recovery equipment, VHF Radio communication, specialized guide books, first aid kit, seatbelts, binoculars and last but not least, great guides who undergo bi-yearly training with our internal and external guide trainers.
A balloon safari offers an opportunity to see the wildlife areas from a unique perspective. Take in the wilderness below as you silently float over the vast plains (in whichever direction the wind takes you). Follow a large herd of wildebeest, see a lion stalk its prey or just marvel at the magnificent scenery before touching down for a bush breakfast like no other. If you only take one balloon flight in your life, this is the place to do it.
In this pristine wilderness blessed with abundant wildlife, your senses dulled over the years by city traffic, lights, and the distractions of the modern world, are quickly restored to a heightened state as we guide you through the bush for an up-close and personal experience with nature and all it entails. Each walking safari is tailored to the group’s ambitions as we immerse you in the Serengeti wilderness, far away from the hustle of safari vehicles and tourists.
An adventure that awakens your senses like no other...
Guided by qualified and expert guides with years of experience, you are in safe hands to experience life on the ground in the Eastern Serengeti. This pristine and unspoiled area of the Serengeti presents some of the most interesting and rewarding wilderness areas for walking safaris in East Africa.
No safari is complete without experiencing a traditional outdoor, open-air lunch or dinner. Relax under the natural canopy of an acacia tree, while your personal butler serves up a feast. Nothing is quite so essentially safari as this. White linen, fine bone china and crystal glassware create a real "Out of Africa" experience - both daytime and night.
Sundowners are more than just a happy hour. They are a very cherished African tradition and form an integral part of your safari experience. It is a time to relax, reminisce the day gone by, enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine around the camp fire with fellow travellers, and watch as the sun goes down over the Serengeti plains.
Relax and unwind at our Spa in the middle of the Serengeti. Treat yourself to a well-deserved massage from your travels, and absorb the sounds and melodies of your surroundings. Spas are a hymn to nature, intriguing to the senses, yet calming to the mind.
Tanzania has great appeal for families. Seeing animals is very exciting for children, and nothing can prepare a parent for the delight of watching their child’s reaction when they catch sight of a lion, giraffe or elephant for the very first time. Lemala Cubs offers our special guests under the age of 12, a range of wonderful opportunities to experience and enjoy the magic of the African bush. These activities are fun, educational and interesting, showing future generations the need for conservation of Africa’s wildlife, and keep kids well entertained while mum and dad relax.
Kuria Main Dining Area
Our separate spacious dining room allows guests to enjoy their meals whilst enjoying uninterrupted views of the Serengeti plains stretched out in-front of them. The layout is individual dining with an a la carte menu. If you have any dietary requirements let us know and the chefs will whip up some specials.

THREE LEVELS The landing deck, which is at sea level, has a lounge area and bathroom facility. From there, steps lead up to the roof which also has a lounging area perfect for sun worshipping by day and stargazing by night. Sleep under the stars to the soft murmuring of the sea.
Downstairs – the magical feeling of lying on a soft double bed surrounded by panes of glass affording almost 360 degrees viewing – watching the shoals of reef fish visiting your windows. Some have taken up residence around the room, which affords them some protection from predation. For example, three bat fish and a trumpet fish, called Nick, is always swimming around and seemingly looking in!
UNDERWATER SPOTLIGHTS By night, the underwater spotlights beneath each window around the room attract the shyer and more unusual species, for instance squid. Coral is already establishing itself on the anchoring lines and around the underwater structure. Octopus and even spanish dancers have been seen attaching themselves to the glass panes.
HOW IT WORKS Your journey will start by boarding a traditionally crafted wooden boat to take you out to the underwater room. The room lies approximately 250m from the shore, about a 2min boat ride over the crystal clear waters of the Manta house reef. On arrival at the room, along with your service fundi and boat captain, you will get shown the ins and outs of your private floating island.
We will then leave you alone to enjoy your new surroundings. Once settled in, a light tropical lunch with cold drinks will be ready for you to enjoy at your leisure. A kayak, snorkel and fins will be provided. The underwater room lies in what we call the blue hole, which has some fantastic coral heads and an abundance of marine life.
After having sundowners on your preferred deck, dinner will be served at a pre-arranged time decided by you and your fundi. After dinner you will be left to yourselves. Breakfast will be served at a pre-arranged time. When arranging your meal times your dietary requirements and meal options can be discussed too. Check out time from the room is at 11:00.
FACILITIES A mobile phone will be provided with the contact numbers required should you need assistance with anything. The bathroom facilities include an open-air fresh water shower, a fully-functioning advanced marine toilet system that is eco-friendly, and a small hand-wash basin. We will provide all necessary environmentally friendly, biodegradable shower products. A fully-stocked bar fridge is there for your convenience.

The Pemba Coral Reef Safari takes place on the far northwestern tip of Pemba Island in Tanzania, overlooking the warm, clear waters of the western Indian Ocean and the vibrant Pemba Channel — Each safari comprises three guided dives, with the option of a night dive for qualified divers.
Our scuba safaris are led by a passionate naturalist and dive professional, providing an immersive experience through the marine ecosystems of Pemba Island and the Pemba Channel. Our guided experience aims to foster a deeper connection and understanding of marine wildlife, coral reefs, and the critical importance of Marine Protected Areas.
Designed with a low diver-to-guide ratio (maximum 2 divers per guide), these adventures ensure a gentler impact on the aquatic ecosystem — Small dive groups offer a more enriching personal journey for divers and create the opportunity for more intimate wildlife experiences that are impossible with larger groups.
Get certified with our Coral Reef Safari Distinctive Specialty. Guided by your Ocean Journal and knowledgeable naturalist, learn about coral reef ecosystems, and the role of MPAs in conserving them. By the end of your safari, you’ll be ready to answer a few questions, and receive your Distinctive Specialty Certification.

At low tide, a sandbank protrudes to offer a walk on the purest white coral sand. The perfect beach to relax on, surrounded by azure blue waters.
The excursion relies heavily on the tides, currents, and weather conditions and is not always possible.
A cooler box of fruits and refreshments is brought along. This is a 15 minute boat ride from the resort on the most northern point of Pemba Island.

"One of the most chilled places to enjoy a cold beer on the planet!"?
See the ebb and flow come and go (it rhymes!) while sipping away at a “Lemongrass Ginger Sling”, your feet buried in the cool sand, and a soft breeze cooling your skin. In our opinion, the sound of the breaking waves and a breathtaking sunset over the Pemba Channel makes this one of the most chilled places on the planet. Our bartenders specialize in a variety of sundowners and cocktails and will spoil you with fruit drinks and cocktails from the freshest handpicked island mango, lime, lemon, pineapple, and coconuts blended with a touch of rum to create uniquely smooth and refreshing drinks.
