During the two and half hours drive you will visit our baboons, caracals, lions, cheetahs, wild dogs and leopards. Watch them being fed by our experienced guides while they explain how these carnivores came to live on this reserve. Followed by a scenic drive with a good chance of spotting some of the other wildlife. This is not just a great way to learn about these amazing animals and how they behave in the wild, it is also a great up close photo opportunity.
A superb introduction to conservation and the work we do here at N/a'an ku sê.
(Pre-bookings Necessary)
This academy is a joint venture between the N/a’an ku sê Foundation and the Nyae Nyae Conservancy. It aims to serve as a reciprocal training venture where visiting San groups from the Nyae Nyae Conservancy stay at N/a’an ku sê to display their cultural heritage and skills to visitors.
Take the opportunity to visit the San Bushmen in their traditional village and witness their ancient culture and traditions first hand. The San will show you plants they use for medicinal purposes, how they make fire and set traps, tell you how they hunt and regale you with stories, song and dance.
Take a walk with our habituated caracal and our guides. During this walk you will get to see how these animals behave in the wild, stalking birds and small mammals as they regain their natural instincts and hone their hunting skills. You will also experience the serenity of the Namibian veld and no doubt be accompanied by a wide variety of bird species.
Follow in Marlice’s footsteps and get an intimate view of the workings of a wildlife reserve and sanctuary. On this in-depth activity you will gain insight into the real N/a’an ku sê world and the inner workings of sanctuary life and the myriad of animal species currently being cared for. Enter the riveting world of research carried out at N/a’an ku sê, and gain intimate knowledge into the field of human-carnivore conflict mitigation. Become smitten with our gorgeous sanctuary orphans and bond with the baby baboons (there’s nothing like it). Become fully immersed in Marlice’s magical world!
(Pre-bookings Necessary)
Experience the wonders of our wildlife from a saddle! There’s nothing quite like it. A two hour
horse ride through the bush will give intermediate and advanced riders the unique chance to
observe our wild game closer than ever before – and you may even be lucky enough to ride
amongst our gorgeous giraffe family. Our experienced coordinator will provide you with all of
the necessary safety equipment and will guide you on a fabulous afternoon.
Meet our playful primates and experience the joys of monkey fun on a not-to-be-missed baboon walk. All of our baboons came to N/a’an ku sê either after losing their mums (Namibia’s Chacma baboons are tragically persecuted on an almost daily basis), or having been rescued from situations of abuse. Our baboon buddies adore the interaction and bounding through the bush on their daily walks. Why not join in and get to know firsthand just how incredible these animals are?
Take the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enter N/a’an ku sê’s very own “Meerkat Manor”, and spend a magical two hours witnessing the delightful antics of the bushveldt’s most beloved residents. Meerkats are early risers, emerging from their dens from approximately 6.15AM. Hence you will be met at the main lodge building and then it’s off to enter a madcap meerkat world on N/a’an ku sê’s picturesque reserve. *Please note that even though we always do our utmost to ensure significant meerkat sightings, the animal kingdom plays by its own rules, thus sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Habituated cheetahs have lost their fear of humans – a fear that is crucial in elevating their survival chances in the wild. For this reason, some of the magnificent spotted sprinters at N/a’an ku sê need to remain in captivity, having come to the sanctuary from various conflict situations at very young ages, requiring dedicated care to ensure their survival. At N/a’an ku sê we fully nurture and encourage their natural behaviour, captivity resembling the life of their wild counterparts as closely as possible. Enjoy time with our habituated big cats, in the hands of an experienced and knowledgeable guide. Simply not to be missed!
Our experienced guides will take you with our well-equipped open game drive vehicles around the
pristine 9,000-hectare reserve, showcasing some of the most incredible wildlife in Africa! Early drives at
sunrise are ideal to observe the Namibian plains waking up, while evening drives reveal the elusive
beauty of the nocturnal savannah. An experience that you will never forget…
The Zannier Reserve by N/a’an ku sê is home to the Shiloh Wildlife Sanctuary, a valuable center aiming for caring rhinos or elephants that have been injured or orphaned in poaching incidents. Enter this wildlife animal clinic managed by the N/a’an ku sê Foundation and discover the incredible work of passionate vets who are rescuing and taking care of endangered animals.
Put your hat on, pull up those sleeves and jump on the back of the bakkie. We are going to
feed the rhinos! Get on the back of the bakkie and drive to the shed, load your own lucerne
bail, about 6-8 bails will be loaded & continue to the feeding spot. Watch while feeding take
place, about 11-13 rhinos will be fed at once.
When it comes to feeding the soul, our team of passionate chefs will prepare Euro-African dishes to entice the palette and uplift the spirit. Whether it's a wake-me-up breakfast, picnic in the veldt, dinner under the stars, we will be ready to look after your every culinary need. For functions we can accommodate any need including sit-down dinners, braai’s, luncheons, buffets or cocktail and canapé functions.
Our restaurant is open and welcome to day visitors, with our Sunday buffet lunch a popular choice for those living or travelling through Windhoek.
The N/a’an ku sê Activity Centre, a modest and intimate venue for day visitors. The Activity Centre caters to a myriad of groups, from families and children, to students and corporate executives. Guests can choose to simply cool off and relax by the swimming pool, or indulge in an exquisite menu which will set your taste buds alive.
And, for an authentic N/a’an ku sê experience, book your spot on a carnivore feeding tour, cheetah walk or any other activity.

We invite you to contribute to the Wolwedans Foundation through leaving your mark in the desert. The full amount collected goes to the Wolwedans Foundation and each adoption supports a different project being run by the Foundation.
Adopt & Plant a Tree: Contribute to the restoration of the local ecosystem and help combat desertification by planting a tree in this vital conservation effort. Proceeds go into the Wolwedans Horticulture Project. The tree planting takes about 15 minutes. Your tree has your name on a plaque and we hope you visit us again to see how it has grown.
Adopt a Fairy Circle: Help preserve one of Namibia's most intriguing natural phenomena by adopting a fairy circle. This project supports the conservation arm of the NamibRand Nature Reserve.
Adopt a SiloTile: A new initiative with the addition of the silo bar at Dune Camp. Each tile on the silo contributes to our trash to treasure project. All proceeds go towards the waste & recycling plant in Maltahohe, which is part of Rural Revive. Waste is something each of us contribute to on a daily basis, yet few of us think about the impact. In a pristine environment like the NamibRand, creative waste management is a top priority.

There is no better way of viewing the Delta and its wildlife than adventuring by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe). Drift across Botswana's Okavango floodplains, the world's largest freshwater, inland delta. The riverine forest surrounding Wilderness Jao are ideal for spotting smaller creatures amongst the papyrus reeds.
* Water levels permitting.
A boating excursion allows us to reach and explore the more distant waterways and clear, deep channels. Explore the iconic Delta floodplains at Wilderness Jao.
* Water levels permitting.
Fishing with a limited supply of basic equipment (spinner rods and a small range of lures) is on offer seasonally on a catch and release basis.
* Note that fishing is seasonal as it is prohibited by Botswana law in January and February due to breeding purposes.
Morning and afternoon game drives are offered in open 4x4 vehicles, and reveal the spectacular wildlife diversity of the vast floodplains. Traverse the iconic Jao Reserve in search of game ranging from the elusive Pel’s fishing-owl, to the infamous ‘Jao Mafia’ mongoose gang, to a myriad of big cats, to co-habiting crocodiles and hippos, to a multitude of antelope species, buffalo, and elephant herds.
Night drives with spotlights allow you to find those nocturnal animals you wouldn’t see during the day. Please note that during high water levels, night drives are not possible.
Wilderness Jao rests under a fantastic tree canopy on its own remote island, surrounded by a watery garden of channels, reeds, and lilies. A 45 minute boat ride from Wilderness Jao, you can enjoy a full-day game drive, along with a picnic, on wildlife-rich Hunda Island.
Tucked away in amongst palms for privacy, overlooking lush waterways, the Wilderness Jao Spa is an exquisite setting from where you can rest, relax and feel utterly restored. A full menu of therapies from facials to manicures, and a range of signature massage options, may be experienced. Stay active and energised amid the wild beauty Jao. The well-equipped gym (treadmill, elliptical trainer, punch bag for boxing, stationary exercise bicycle, exercise mats, medicine ball, skipping ropes and a range of free weights) is a haven for a refreshing workout with a view of the magnificent floodplains.
A fascinating feature at Wilderness Jao is the museum and gallery, with its emphasis on learning and knowledge sharing of the area and its denizens, from a metres high giraffe skeleton, to geographical maps. In addition, a series of botanical pressings by EE Galpin, known as the 'Prince of Collectors' and one of the pre-eminent botanists of his time, is beautifully showcased here. In fact, he was the great-grandfather of Cathy Kays, co-owner of Wilderness Jao. Included is a fascinating history of the Kays family, who have been rooted in Botswana since the 19th century and today based in Maun, operating Ngamiland Adventure Safaris (NAS) and other ventures.

Mana Pools Camp | Mana Pools National Park
Mana Pools National Park is synonymous with the Zambezi River, elephants, lions, remoteness and wilderness. This unique park is a world heritage site based on its wildness and beauty, together with the wide range of large mammals, over 350 bird species and aquatic wildlife.
The name "Mana'' means "four" in the local Shona language. This applies to the four large pools inland from the Zambezi River. These pools are the remnant ox-bow lakes that the Zambezi River carved out thousands of years ago as it changed its course northwards. Hippopotamus, crocodiles and a wide variety of aquatic birds are associated with the pools. ''Long Pool'', is the largest of the four pools, extending some 6 km in a west-east direction. This pool has a large population of hippo and crocodiles and is a favorite for the large herds of elephant that come out of the thickly vegetated areas in the south to drink.

With us you can do more than just stretch your legs, you can walk for days. Stroll down through the foothills to the granite-topped outcroppings at the edge of the savannah and climb up for a view of the Savannah.
Take a longer day hike across the hills and plains, accompanied by your experienced Maasai scouts, learning to read the signs of the animals and hearing how the landscape was formed, crossing over ancient lava flows and ending in a tented camp under a baobab tree for the night. Or, best of all, take the rarest of walks up into the Green Hills and through the Chyulu Cloud Forest: wild forest hogs, rare Turaco birds, huge silver-cheeked Hornbills, antelope, elephant…all under the cool shade of giant strangler fig trees that rival the strangest most mystical trees in the world.

You will feel like the first pilots experiencing pioneering flying over Africa. Being so close to Kilimanjaro is fascinating. We remain in the Kenyan airspace and we fly just 5 miles from the peak: very impressive!
We will come back toward the Chyulu Hills, flying low level in search of the elephants, which we see most of the time. After landing, a table will be waiting for you in the savanna, with a fabulous vista of the mountain where you just flew over.
A champagne breakfast, in the savanna, with eggs and bacon cooked on a bush fire… Do not miss the experience of a life time! Flying early morning is extremely comfortable; the air is not moving and you will have an incredibly smooth flight.
Imagine Mount Kilimanjaro wrapped in a soft, purple light with the snow on top reflecting the first sun of the morning. Listen to Africa as she wakes up at dawn. Birds are singing, zebras are snorting, and the wind is whistling through the acacias.
You are in the middle of it all, riding a horse through a herd of hartebeest. This magical experience will remain with you forever.
After your ride, raise a toast to the great greatdoors as you sip champagne at a peaceful bush breakfast.
