A unique tapestry of encounters, experiences and emotions.
Based in the Tuli Game Reserve in Botswana, we offer three exclusive destinations: Koro River and Koro Island Camp in Botswana, and Machungulo Beach Villa in Mozambique. Our other services include safari packages for ease and convenience of travel, and our privately guided safaris led by Alan McSmith.
We strive to be different and each wilderness or wildlife encounter is personally crafted. Tuli is a rugged wild land and the game viewing and landscape is exceptional. The reserve produces some of the best elephant viewing in Africa and is not referred to as "Land of the giants" for nothing! We focus away from conventional commercial game viewing with a vision of a complete African safari, an immersive experience, be it bush or beach.
We have established an accredited PhD level field study, focussing on the ecology of leopard and hyena of the Tuli. The study, fronted by Sander Vissia, focusses on the inter-relationships between these large predators, especially the iconic endangered brown hyena. Guests are encouraged to participate in research excursions to monitor camera-traps, den sites or animal identification. The thread of our research continues with a monitoring project of the leatherback turtles at Machangulo, here guests can also participate in this sensitive and unique project.

Explore the ancient and untouched wilderness of Tuli with your local guide and tracker on an open game viewer, in search of all the wondrous creatures big and small. Day & night drives available.
Game walks in search of antelope, zebra, giraffe and of course elephants are part of the fare. Tracking big game on foot opens up a secret world of information and observation and is truly an exciting and inspiring experience, one never to be forgotten. Hidden-away springs offer superb stalking possibilities.
StarBeds is our elevated game viewing platform overlooking a waterhole and the vast Tuli horizons and approaching sunrise beyond. A night sleeping-out here offers an exclusive peek into the secretive nocturnal habits of elephant, hyena, civet, leopard and antelope as they soak their thirsts below. Accommodating 4 people, the StarBeds experience consists of an open air (or covered) sleeping platform, safari bedding, a drinks station and flush loo.
A PhD level field study, focussing on the ecology of leopards and hyenas of the Tuli is underway. This includes the highly endangered Kalahari icon, the brown hyena. We invite our guests to participate in monitoring activities and field observations with our head of research in Tuli, Sander Vissia who is completing a PhD at Wageningen University in Holland.
The research carried out on our Tuli private concession is unique in the fact that it is conducted in a dynamic, forever changing and carnivore rich open system. With an abundance of resident leopard, spotted hyena and brown hyena, returning lions from Northern Tuli Game Reserve and adjacent South Africa and cross-border nomadic packs of wild dogs it is an exciting area.
Go back in time over 500 years with a half-day excursion to a recently discovered old Bushman settlement with paintings and sacred sites. An extended game drive through the Tuli takes us to the small village of Mothlhabaneng, and a stunning sandstone amphitheatre on the Moutlotse River with numerous beautiful galleries of elephant, giraffe, sable, wild dog and aardvark paintings. The quality of these paintings rivals any area in Africa. The Africa Experience supports the local community in developing the site as a heritage and tourism place of interes
