Safety is paramount to us, and our Luxury Tents are situated in a electrified fenced enclosure, only accessible from the radio controlled main gate.

Large old camel thorn trees greet camping guests at the Desert Horse Campsite in a small valley of the Aus Mountains. Each of the ten sites is equipped with a tap, table, grill and windbreak. Neat shower and toilet facilities are within easy reach of each site. Barbecue packs are available at the reception of Desert Horse Inn (1.5 km); those who like to skip cooking for a change are more than welcome at the Inn's restaurant (subject to space available, please enquire upon arrival). Note there are no power point outlets at the Desert Horse camp. If you have equipment that need to be charged it can be done at reception of Desert Horse Inn.

In 1999, Andreas and Mandy Brückner got the go-ahead to convert the deserted home of Karakul sheep farmers on the farm Stellarine into what is known as the NamibRand Family Hideout today. It is remotely situated in south-western Namibia , on the NamibRand Nature Reserve, one of Southern Africa ’s largest private nature reserves.

Pre-booking is essential. In addition to our daily rates, a daily per person Park Fee is compulsory for contribution to the conservation function of the NamibRand Nature Reserve.

You are advised to book at least 2 nights as our facilities are over 16 kilometres off the main road C27.

12 Individually Shaded Camp Sites, each with its own toilet and shower facilities, kitchen wash-up basin, barbeque and electricity points. The Sossus Oasis Camp Site has a sparkling pool and within walking distance is a fully stocked shop and Internet café. The Sossus Oasis Service Station Shop offers snacks, drinks, ice, groceries, wood, toiletries, curios, clothing as well as fuel and a tyre workshop service. The nearest restaurant is situated at the adjacent Sossusvlei Lodge. Exciting desert activities like Guided Excursions to Deadvlei and Sossusvlei, Elim dune walks, Sundowner Trips and magnificent Scenic Flights over the dunes and coast can be booked at the Sossusvlei Lodge Adventure Centre.
