One Horizon is an international aid agency that hosts travellers to its centres. It conducts tours which range from 1 to 7 days where socially responsible travellers can immerse themselves in 'giving something back'.
A variety of centres can be visited
One Horizon has 23 centres in Kenya and these range from crèches and schools in some of the most disadvantaged slum communities in and around Nairobi and Mombasa to Women's Retraining Centres, Rescue Centres for Street Children and Outreach Programs. One Horizon's visitors can choose from up to 20 activities to become involved in from helping conduct health checks on the children, to preparing lunch and helping educate the children about hygiene. There is something for everybody and our visitors include all ages and nationalities from couples and families to special interest groups.
Giving Something Back
Sometimes it’s hard to grasp the difficulties of others and the situation they face when you are hearing it from a distance. Travel often bridges the gaps and can bring us face to face with people and places that change our perspective. One Horizon visitors are engaged with real people overcoming real problems. Go to One Horizon's website www.onehorizon.net for further information. And you might just like to include a safari experience whilst you are in Kenya so that you experience everything you can of this amazing country
Art for Therapy
At every centre our Art Therapy classes are conducted. This helps a lot of the children who are from deprived and abused backgrounds and its always heaps of fun. Our guests are important to us because they help conduct these classes which are important to the children's well being

It has a completely different feel from the main lodge and is ideal for couples travelling together, honeymooners or special family trips where privacy is of the utmost concern.
The dining room has a large table fitting 8-10 people, a cosy living room area at one end with a small fireplace and a bar at the other end for cocktails and sundowners. Tucked away behind the dining room is a lovely kitchen for cooking on site and a restroom so that guests do not have to go back to their rooms to find that convenience.
The outdoor area in from of the dining room has two grass levels and an open fire pit where we hold bush dinners under the stars, drinks by the fire and we also use our mobile BBQ oven so that we can cook over the embers with our guests. Our swimming pool is pioneering in its environmentally responsible technology and voted the best in Laikipia by our clients and the Daily Nation newspaper! Laikipia's hidden gem.
It does not use salt or chlorine, but rather a copper based deionising system to kill bacteria. Like our whole lodge this pool is chemical free and runs on 100% solar power. We are the first in Kenya to use this Eco Smarte technology but others are following suit.
