Mawimbi Bush Camp | Central Kafue

Mawimbi Bush Camp is a tented camp situated at the riverbank of the beautiful Kafue River in the Kafue National Park in Western Zambia. We have four luxury large canvas tents. Each has its own en-suite bathroom consisting of, ecological “green” toilet and a wash hand basin and a bucket shower that is supplied with hot water on demand. All of the rooms are mosquito proofed, with two beds in the main area of the tent with a covered entrance verandah overlooking the river for perfect game viewing and relaxing. The tent is tastefully furnished with all basic necessities and decorated in subtle African themes. The Kafue River is perfect for canoeing, the main activity offered. Wilderness game walks and drives in the Kafue National Park are organized every morning and afternoon for those not braving the canoeing and are a must for all lovers of the African bush. Off course, there is an amazing bird life that awaits exploring as well as fishing from the riverbank.

Konkamoya Lodge | Southern Kafue

Unfenced and immersed in nature, Konkamoya Lodge blends seamlessly into the heart of Kafue National Park.
Each of the four spacious tents is raised on wooden platforms, offering privacy and safety while delivering the comfort of a private suite — complete with a bedroom, lounge area, and a full bathroom with hot and cold running water.
All tents face east, opening onto Lake Itezhi-Tezhi and offering stunning views of the iconic African sunrise. Surrounded by towering mahogany, ebony, and baobab trees, guests are truly enveloped by the wild.
Solar-powered energy ensures minimal impact on the environment while providing electricity, lighting, Wi-Fi charging, and power for devices.
At night, only the sounds of nature fill the air — the distant roar of a lion, the calls of hippos, the haunting cry of a Pel’s fishing owl, and the laughter around the fireplace after an exhilarating night drive.
Exploring with Konkamoya’s expert guides is like earning a PhD in the African bush.
The lodge can be booked exclusively by families or private groups seeking a personalised and unforgettable safari experience.

TENTS
Each of our four brand new luxury tents offers you an abundance of space in which to stretch out and unwind. In the centre of this 67sqm tent is your king-size bed, made up with linen of the finest Egyptian cotton, a sanctuary from which you can marvel at the incandescent colours of the sunrise or idly watch the playful afternoon frolics of the impala and puku, utterly unaware of your presence.
Entirely screened from the smaller creatures of the African bush, your tent also has 360o privacy screens that can be opened or closed to suit you – giving you the precise panoramic view that fits your mood. Even our indoor showers are designed to capture these views and give you the sense of being at one with nature.
The comfortable living area within the tent is designed so that you can enjoy moments of quiet between your activities, catch up with some reading, or just sit back and reflect on your adventure so far.
Each tent also has an intimate verandah on which to enjoy your morning coffee or tea while your senses awaken to the day ahead.

The Game Drive
At Konkamoya, providing an authentic wildlife experience is what we are all about!
From the lodge you can see herds of elephant striding majestically past and large groups of antelope grazing nearby.
Game drives are one of the best ways to get close to the wonders of the animal world and our highly qualified guides lead you in comfortable open 4×4 vehicles.
On these morning and afternoon expeditions you will see four of the park's Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo) as well as a variety of other animals including cheetah, pangolin, aardvark and the magnificent wild dog.
The birdlife of Kafue National Park is also spectacular, with an exceptionally diverse list of over 560 species found in the area, including two that are very special to Zambia - the Zambian Barbet (Chaplin's Barbet), which is endemic to the area around the park, and the national bird, the African Fish Eagle. Our guides will be happy to share their knowledge and experience with you as your adventure unfolds.
The morning game drive includes a stop for coffee or tea and a snack in an area of outstanding natural beauty, while the afternoon game drive pauses to enjoy the magnificent African sunset over a drink before continuing the search for these shy nocturnal animals under the starry sky.

the Konkamoya restaurant
According to The Financial Times, we definitely offer a delicious gourmet experience in the Kafue National Park.
International, Zambian and Italian specialties are prepared by our chefs every day. Meat, fish and crayfish cooked to your tastes, homemade gnocchi and tagliatelle, pizza and bread in a wood oven, traditional Zambian recipes… We love fresh food and we want to support local micro-economy.
Special requirements, like vegetarian meals or coeliac diet, can be catered for. And we can always organize a cooking class with our chefs if you want to learn how to prepare one of our specialties.
