On the eastern boundary of Etosha National Park in Namibia is Onguma Nature Reserve, a private wilderness spanning 35,480 ha. Within this reserve, elevated on wooden decks and with panoramic views over one of Onguma’s most beautiful and active waterholes is the exclusive and intimate Onguma Camp Kala.
Appealing to the sophisticated luxury adventure traveller seeking authenticity and deep comfort, the camp accommodates just eight guests in 4 suites. Spacious and private, the open-plan suites have a sumptuous bedroom and comfortable lounge with a state-of-the-art air-cooling system, and a beautiful bathroom with bespoke double vanities, full-size free-standing bathtub and generous shower. Each suite has its own deck with plunge pool, wood-fired hot tub and along a short walkway, a private, shaded Sala with an outdoor daybed - perfectly placed for an armchair safari – or even a “sleep out” under the stars.
In the central guest area, there is a comfortable lounge, cocktail bar and an expansive deck. The dining area has an open plan, interactive ‘show’ kitchen and all-day pantry for tasty treats. Suite
Each of the four guest Suites are linked by raised wooden walkways. Spacious and private, the open-plan suites have sumptuous twin or king-size beds with a state-of-the-art air-cooling system, and a beautiful bathroom with bespoke double vanities, full-size free-standing bathtub and generous shower. The comfortable seating area is equipped with a fully stocked personal bar.
Each suite has its own deck with loungers, seating area, plunge pool and wood-fired hot tub. To the side is a walkway to a private, shaded sala with a king-size outdoor day bed - perfectly placed for an armchair safari – or even a “sleep out” under the stars.

The Dream Cruiser is a unique sleep-out experience, under the Namibian night skies.
Arriving in time to enjoy sundowners and take a tour of your overnight accommodation, this sleep out in the wilderness of the reserve is on our custom built Land Cruiser, featuring a full bathroom on the lower deck and a bedroom with lounge area on the upper deck.
A night on the Dream Cruiser calls for al fresco picnic-style dining, delivered by our chef for you to enjoy as the evening turns to night and the stars dance in all their glory.

The Sundowner Drive takes place on Onguma Private Nature Reserve, which consists of 35 480 hectares of Namibian wilderness, and is home to numerous plains game, more than 300 bird species and four of the big five.
Departing after breakfast or lunch, guests will journey into the world famous Etosha National Park. Being either one of the first to enter the park that morning, or as the day begins to wind down, guests will explore the eastern part of the 22 750 square kilometre wildlife sanctuary with one of our knowledgeable rangers.
Having a good chance of meeting 4 of the ‘big 5’ at a waterhole or in the bush.
Etosha, meaning ‘place of dry waters’ refers to a flat calc depression (or pan) of about 5 000 km2. The ‘pan’ (overlooked by the Onguma Reserve) provides a great parched, silver-white backdrop of shimmering mirages to an area of semi-arid savannah grassland and thorn scrub. The pan itself contains water only after very good rains and sometimes for only a few days each year, but is enough to stimulate the growth of a bluegreen algae which lures thousands of flamingos. There are roughly 114 species of mammals in Etosha, however no Hippo, Crocodile or Buffalo, as it is too arid, but there is enough to explore on your game drive.
Africa takes on a new perspective when you experience it on foot as the first explorers did. A bush walk is a unique physical, mental and spiritual adventure through nature. Experience the sights, smells and sounds of the Namibian bush by conducting an early morning leisurely walk accompanied by one of our experienced armed rangers.
An experience in the Namibian wilderness is made complete with the opportunity to pamper ones body and mind at the Onguma Spa, or on our yoga deck.

Onduli Ridge | Damaraland
Onduli Ridge, named after the resident giraffe of the area, is built at the base of two south facing granite outcrops which are connected by a ridge. This location allows for magnificent views of Namibia’s highest mountain, the Brandberg, to the south and the dispersed cathedral-like granite inselbergs to the north. The six suites are hidden amongst the granite boulders that nestle the camp and the more temperate climate of central Damaraland allows for naturally ventilated suites, partial open-air bathrooms and largely open communal areas. The camp exudes character and meticulous attention to detail meeting all requirements, from large rooms to libraries, rain showers, infinity pool and plenty of places to laze. An exciting 4x4 excursion along the ephemeral Aba Huab
and Huab River valleys to explore this remarkable region and to search for game,
especially the elusive desert adapted elephants, if they are in the area.
Damaraland is home to a variety of desert adapted wildlife and hidden desert
treasures.
This is a fascinating activity that will allow
you to explore the rock art ‘petroglyphs’ at the Twyfelfontein UNESCO World
Heritage site. This is a great way to explore the area on foot and to learn about
the history behind these famous rock engravings.
The nature drives at Onduli Ridge focus on the fauna and flora of the region, with a strong emphasis on desert-adapted wildlife, conservation initiatives, and community-based tourism within the conservancies of the area. Guests gain insight not only into the unique ecosystem and species such as desert-adapted elephants and black rhino, but also into how tourism directly supports local communities and long-term conservation efforts in Damaraland.
This is a superb area to walk in because of the great variety of things to
see, no matter what direction you head out in. Guided walks allow you to explore
any part of the local area on foot, with your guide, at almost any time of day, and
they always make for a great ‘alternative’ activity to enjoy during your stay.
There are various bike trails set out which allow for various distances
to be covered by E-Bikes and also allow you to enjoy the scenic landscape. You
set out with your guide and make your way around the area so you stand a good
chance of seeing wildlife and amazing landscapes while experiencing the joys of
biking while on holiday
The Rhino Activity is only possible on a 3 night basis.
This activity is run in conjunction with SRT working with Rhino Rangers who are based in the area.
Head out by vehicle into the scenic Damaraland landscapes and meet up with the
rangers to continue on foot so that you can view these rare animals in their
natural habitat.
Onduli also offers a range of relaxing spa treatments for guests to enjoy during their stay. Please note that spa treatments are optional and are not included in the daily accommodation rate, and will therefore be charged additionally.

Traverse the stark beauty and vast expanse on an e-bike. Easy to ride and super fun, these nifty bicycles are fitted with a battery-powered ‘assist’ that gives a boost via a throttle when pedalling. There are two different options, an 11km (6.8mi) or a 19km (11.8mi) route.
Explore the lodge surrounds on foot, take the time to sit in the stillness and be enchanted by the views. There are two defined hiking trails, a 2.2km (1.4mi) or a 3.4km (2.1mi) route waiting to be explored.

Avid photographers will enjoy this 90 min photographic flight showcasing the best of the Namib Desert. This flight extends to the ocean, where the red dune belt drops 152m (500ft) into the sea. Observe a seal colony at Black Rock and fly with doors off allowing you to capture red dunes, resident desert-adapted wildlife, rocky mountains and sandy plains. This experience includes a stopover in the dunes to enjoy a glass of champagne.

Experience the desert from above on a 2.5 hour helicopter flight. Fly over the Devil’s Fork dune formation and soar past the gnarled, twisted trees of Deadvlei. Continue until you hit the coast where the dunes fringe the sea, turn north from Meob Bay and follow the shoreline towards the Eduard Bohlen shipwreck. Enjoy a champagne stop and head home with views of Witberg Mountain.

Horse riding offers a magically unique way to experience the surrounding nature of the reserve. At Gmunder, the comfort of the animals remains of paramount importance. Our saddles have been designed to ensure that guests and the horses experience a comfortable ride. These handstitched Western saddles have been meticulously designed and are softer and broader than conventional saddles. This is a proper bucket-list activity for all visitors.
E-biking is an easy alternative to a hike and allows guests to enjoy the landscape at a leisurely pace. Our e-bikes are designed in Namibia and made for the African terrain. The bikes are battery-powered and propelled forward by a motor.

The tennis court is named after Ion Țiriac, also known as the “Brașov Bulldozer”, who is a Romanian businessman and former professional tennis and ice hockey player.
Although Gmundner does not have its own golf course, arrangements can be made for transport to and from any course in the area.
Guests are further encouraged to utilise the well-equipped Gmundner Gym and sauna.

At Gmundner Lodge, guests experience an unparalleled fine dining experience. Our Chefs emphasizes creative, seasonal cuisine and regional produce. Our Chef team receive daily deliveries of fresh, high-quality organic products from the farm: fruits, vegetables, eggs, dairy, beef, game meat, honey, and more. These ingredients are skillfully crafted into creative dishes such as Baked Meringue with citrus fruits on yogurt clouds or a Butternut Squash Velouté with browned butter, pine nuts, and sage, served with homemade puff pastry bread.
Upon request, lodge guests can enjoy a unique "fine dining experience": lunch or dinner in the wilderness. The Gmundner team sets up tables at stunning hidden spots or transports guests for a sundowner on the highest mountain in the area, where the Lodge's team arranges a fully equipped bar and snacks. All of this is served on the beautiful dinnerware from the Gmundner Ceramics' African Collection.
