Embark on an enriching journey through the Kalahari into the ancient world of the San, Namibia’s first inhabitants. Guided by a local expert from the Bushmen Survival Trust, this immersive desert walk reveals ancestral knowledge and the secrets of survival in one of the world’s most challenging environments.
Learn to read the land, identify plants with healing and practical uses, and interpret the animal tracks etched into the sand. Through storytelling and demonstrations, gain a profound insight into the authentic hunter-gatherer culture.
This activity includes refreshments and a light snack; advance booking recommended or directly at the lodge.

Duration: ± 3 hours
Join a 2-hour morning drive with a dedicated tour guide. After a leisurely drive guests will arrive at one of the red dunes. The red sand of the dunes invites all children to play. The family will spend some relaxed time on the dunes with coffee and hot chocolate. The guide will share some interesting facts on fauna and flora with the children (and their parents). Morning only. If you want to explore the flora and fauna of the Succulent Karoo desert on your own you have five different hiking trails to choose from. They are well marked and take you through the wildly romantic scenery of the Aus Mountains. Duration: between 2 and 5 hours

Lüderitz is just 120 km away and the ghost town of Kolmanskop only 115 km (tar road). Klein-Aus Vista is the ideal starting point for a trip to both places. Only 20 km from Aus, on the way to or back from Lüderitz, visit the Garub water hole where the wild horses and several other animals of the desert plains can be found. The Wild Horses of the Namib have roamed this harsh habitat since 1915 and are an experience one should not miss.
There is a choice of different routes on well-marked trails, varying from 18 km to 35 km - mostly single track trails - recommended for riders with intermediate skills. Dual suspension bikes available for rent.

The 24 modern self-catering accommodation units at Desert Quiver Camp are uniquely designed to blend in perfectly with the natural surrounding environment.
Each spacious bedroom features twin beds, a fold-out sleeper couch, space for suitcases, shelves, hanging space and an electronic safe. The en-suite bathroom is equipped with a shower, toilet and wash basin with vanity space.
Two small children under the age of 12 years can be accommodated on the fold-out sleeper couch free of charge when sharing the room with two full paying adults. Please enquire with your booking to ensure preparations are made as required.
The patio is equipped with a barbeque facility, fitted kitchenette with a wash up area, under counter fridge, 2-plate hob and a wooden bench for seating. Utility boxes with most utensils needed for self-catering are available at reception and fresh food supplies can be ordered daily.

An early start from the Lodge to enter the Namib-Naukluft Park at sunrise, while the temperature is still mild and when the dune contrasts are at their best. You will travel in one of our all-terrain URI Gameviewer vehicles, custom-built in Namibia for the Lodge, with your own specially trained guide who will share all his knowledge of the area, animals, plant life and much more with you.
Regular stops are made on the spectacular ±60 kilometre drive through the dune corridor down to the Vlei to gain information or take in the vistas. At Dune 45, we make a stop to view the the world's most photographed dune. Further along, a gradual 2,6 kilometer round-trip guided walk up to Dead Vlei is a must for the healthy visitors. The more energetic have the opportunity to climb to the upper ridge of Big Daddy Dune, one of the highest dunes in this area! We spend time exploring Sossusvlei before returning to the Lodge approximately 5½ hours later in time for lunch.

Depart from Sossusvlei Lodge in the late afternoon on a leisurely drive on the Lodge's private reserve. Watch the shadows lengthen as your guide takes you out to a panoramic location where sundowner drinks will be served as you relax and watch the spectacular sunset. The inner tranquillity that a desert sunset imparts while you sit amongst nature is really something special...

Desert Air have a well-maintained 6-seater Cessna 210 light aircraft permanently based on the Sossusvlei Lodge property along with an experienced pilot who also doubles as a trained "aerial" desert guide.
A number of routes are available on request, including:
A 40 minute trip to Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon will provide you with wonderful aerial photographs of the Vlei and Canyon.
A longer hour trip to the forbidden coast (Sperrgebiet) and the area known as Lange Wand, which is the coastal area of the Namib Desert, will provide you incredible views where a 'sea of desert dunes' meet the Atlantic ocean.
An hour and a half trip over the Sossusvlei area will include Conception Bay, a seal colony, shipwreaks and even old diamond miners camps.

"Up, up and away" as you sail silently over the reddish dune sea of the Namib. Add an exhilarating dimension to your visit to the desert.
The duration of the excursion is approximately 3½ hours. The Hot Air Balloon flight itself takes about one hour and ends with an exclusive Champagne Breakfast at the landing spot in scenic nature.
Special group rates apply for groups of min 24 pax, max 110 pax.
Due to the desert temperatures this activity is offered in the mornings only. Guests are required to depart to the Namib Sky ballooning base at least an ½ hour before sunrise with their own vehicles. The balloon rises as the sun rises. The first light hour of the day is known to be the most spectacular, especially in the desert with the rich contrast of colour and shape on the towering sand dunes of the Sossusvlei Area, on the vast desert plains and surrounding mountain ranges.

Madisa Camp’s guided Elephant Tracking Excursion departs at 07:30 and usually lasts between six and eight hours, depending on where the desert-adapted elephants are moving on the day. Accompanied by an experienced guide, guests learn how to read tracks, signs and the surrounding bush while searching for these remarkable elephants in their natural Damaraland environment. A light lunch and cooldrinks are included, making this a full and rewarding day out in the wilderness.
The Scenic Sunset Drive leaves from Madisa Camp and meanders through the surrounding areas, where sightings of Elephant, Giraffe, Springbok and other game are possible but not guaranteed. The guide takes you up on a ‘koppie’ to enjoy the beautiful Damaraland sunset.

With affordability and accessibility in mind, Etosha Safari Camping2Go offers comfortably furnished self-catering tents located 10 km away from Andersson Gate at Etosha National Park. Elegant luxury rooms with Queen size bed, en-suite bathroom, air conditioner, tea and coffee station as well as a DSTV hotel package. Each elegant chalet has parking for a vehicle, and these chalets are within easy walking distance of the main lodge building.
Each house is beautifully decorated in warm African style including an open plan kitchen that provides everything needed to cook up a dish, even an outside open fireplace will help you feel at home.
The main bedroom has a double bed, mosquito net and air conditioner, whilst the second bedroom has two single beds and a ceiling fan.
10 Private campsites covered with clean river sand, each with its own washing area, water & fireplace. A well-planned ablution with warm water and seperate facilities for men & women is also available. All the campsites can be reached by a normal vehicle.
