The Piuval Lodge is located 110 km from Cuiabá and 10 km from Poconé in the state of Mato Grosso. It is the first lodge along the Transpantaneira Highway, which begins in Poconé. The lodge is situated on a 7000-hectare cattle ranch with one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Pantanal. At this lodge tourists can observe the abundance and diversity of Pantanal flora and fauna.

The lodge has 20 guest rooms with air conditioning and ceiling fans, private bathrooms, TV, W-Lan, minibar and screened-in windows providing fresh air. The fully screened restaurant serves typical Pantanal meals. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, volleyball court, playground, and a souvenir shop.

While Barco Aguapé itself is a comfortable floating lodge, the true highlight of staying here is its prime location on the Piquiri River—a renowned hotspot for wildlife sightings in this part of the Northern Pantanal.

Each day, you’ll head out in small speedboats to explore the river channels and banks, where jaguars often appear, resting in full view, or sometimes swimming and hunting along the banks. Along the way, you’ll also encounter Giant River Otters, Capybaras, Caiman, countless bird species, and other wildlife that thrive in these remote waters.

The boat provides simple but welcoming cabins; air-conditioned and en-suite, and hearty Brazilian meals served buffet-style. There is a bar area with a good selection of drinks and where the team can make a mean Caipirinha. Evenings are relaxed, with time to share sightings and enjoy the quiet of the river.

The Pousada Rio Claro offers 20 apartments, which are divided into single, double, triple and quadruple and respect both your privacy and local ecology. Rates start at 2:00 p.m. and close at 12:00 p.m., the following day. Single apartment adapted for people with special needs is also on offer, possessing all of the above, providing more comfort and quality.

Hotel Baiazinha – Your Riverside Retreat in the Northern Pantanal
