Our African Home guest house was built by Lord Nelson in 1790 as a hunting lodge using granite from Table Mountain, which makes it one of the oldest buildings in the Sea Point suburb. Now a national monument, it still bears several features from that time, such as the bubbling horse trough on the entrance terrace.

The property is split into several levels, giving rise to different areas containing small, closed-off courtyards so that every guest can find their own private place. A large and stylishly designed pool beckons between the main building and the cottage in garden. On cooler days, the fireplace in the lounge invites you to linger a while and relax.

In spite of the guest house’s central location in the middle of the old village of Sea Point, there is very little traffic nearby so you never notice the rush of the city around.

Situated between Main Road and High Level Road, a five minute walk takes you to the promenade, and in 15 minutes you’re at the waterfront where you will find countless shops and restaurants.

Our rooms are individually and tastefully furnished. Comfortable double beds guarantee you a rejuvenating sleep. Spacious bathrooms are equipped with Philippe Starck fittings. Each room also includes a television, safe and a WLAN connection (included in the price). A computer is available for guests in the lobby.

A variety of top-class restaurants can be found within a short drive of Auberge Clermont. The Huguenot Memorial Museum and Franschhoek Wine Tram Info Kiosk are within 1.5 km of the guesthouse. For hikers, Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve is 8.3 km away.

Five Shy Meerkat tours

Five Shy Meerkat Tours – Original Tours Since 2004
The most popular of our activities we offer are without a doubt the daily wild habituated meerkat tours. These tours that commence only at sunrise are dependent on fair weather, since these little creatures will not venture outside their burrows on cold and rainy days. (No tours on rainy days & Christmas day).

Meerkats are part of the so-called Shy 5 which also includes the bat-eared fox, the aardvark, porcupine and aardwolf.

The meerkat tours last between 2-3 hours and booking is essential. Upon arrival at the meerkat burrows, guests are treated to a hot cup of coffee, after which they are issued with a lightweight aluminium chair to sit in while observing the meerkats as they come out of the burrow into the sunshine and then go about their daily routine of foraging and frolicking. These habituated wild animals are never fed or handled by humans.

Tours are presented by JD Glinister, and his team. It is a fantastic experience & unique privilege to get this close to these little creatures in the wild.

De Zeekoe has all the “ingredients” for a great restaurant: a beautiful setting with great views; skirted by an expanse of lawn and views of the Outeniqua mountains.

At De Zeekoe our food philosophy is using fresh, local ingredients and preparing them simply delicious and deliciously simple. Fresh herbs are picked daily from our garden and used in most of the dishes we serve. We prepare and produce our own olives and honey (when in season).

In the kitchen we prefer homemade products as far as possible. We make our own olive paste, bake bread and prepare our own sauces. The produce we can’t make or grow ourselves, we source locally. Since the area is known for its ostriches, we try and do our best to introduce this very healthy and delicious meat to our guests.

On this menu we strive to provide a balanced variety of meals, taking into account the dietary needs of all our guests. Included are gluten free vegetarian options made with superfood, that can replace any type of meat, even on a meat lovers plate! We continually test new recipes and new ideas to keep our menu fresh.

Situated on top of the Welbedacht Cliff Tops 3km from Knysna Town, the Lodge overlooks the Knysna Lagoon and the Outeniqua mountains. The theme of the Lodge is one based on natural beauty with stone and wood architecture combining to give that comfortable earth feel. Four of the suites have magical views onto the Knysna lagoon from every corner of the room. The fifth suite while still enjoying lagoon views is embedded in indigenous "fynbos" surroundings attracting numerous bird species and giving that "hidden away" feeling. Enjoy a relaxing spa-bath while gazing into infinity. All the suites have double showers with views and are private. The lodge is a family run business that prides itself on personal service and ensuring an unforgettable experience for all.

Tucked into a pocket of spekboom thickets and soft Eastern Cape light, the Safari Tents at Bellevue feel like something time forgot — in the best way. No frills, no fanfare. Just the bush, and you, and whatever the day brings.

The tents are raised just off the forest floor, with wooden decks that catch the morning sun and hold onto it long after the trees have cooled. You wake up slow here. The light filters in early, filtered through canvas and birdsong. It’s warm, it’s quiet. You unzip the flap and step out — maybe with a coffee, maybe just to breathe.

Be part of an exhilarating African experience with our TALL FIVE Giraffe Walking Safaris. As one of Bellevue Forest Reserve’s specialty excursions on a 2,500-hectare private game reserve in the Greater Addo region, this is an experience like no other.

Filled with breath-taking moments, guests experiences a intimate walk through the heart of the Addo Valley Bushveld accompanied by a highly experienced FGASA trained armed trails guide. This is where beautiful memories are made, as you feel the African sun giving life to this amazing safari experience. Bigger groups can be accommodated with prior arrangement, as well as a mid of day time slot (11H00am).

Commencing right after you have enjoyed your beverages and will last about 45 minutes. Hereafter you will return to the lodge where you and your group will enjoy a scrumptious breakfast at our Eagles Nest Lookout Lounge for the morning trips and sundowners in the bush for the afternoon activities.
