Sossus Dune Lodge | Sossusvlei
18 Aug 2024 - 20 Aug 2024
Sossus Dune Lodge sits in an enviable location as it is the first of only two lodges built inside the restricted Sossusvlei area.
Built against low lying mountains, Sossus Dune Lodge offers views across the plains to the dunes. It has a total of 25 chalets (including 2 honeymoon suites): 13 are on the left of the main area, with views of dunes; and the remaining 12 chalets, on the right of the main area, have mountain/canyon views.
All the chalets are very well linked by wooden walkways a few metres from the ground and each chalets is furnished in leather, dark wood and suede and has a large en-suite bathroom. The staggered chalets, looking like huts, ensure you can sit on your balcony in total privacy.
Situated within the park, guests benefit from being able to reach Sossusvlei before sunrise, and stay until after sunset. The lodge is also within walking distance of the Sesriem Canyon.
It's these privileges that sell this property. Although the lodge covers the basics, one should be prepared to sacrifice on standard for the added advantages of being the first or the last into the park.

The Rez | Walvis Bay
20 Aug 2024 - 21 Aug 2024
Exclusive. Eclectic. Elegant. The Rez is a luxury boutique guesthouse with a contemporary feel. Hands down one of the best places to stay in the coastal town of Walvis Bay. The only thing missing is a view out over the lagoon, but being just 2kms away it is close enough for a stroll.
Modern and well decorated with Moroccan touches, this guesthouse punches well above its weight in comparison to the majority of other accommodation options in Walvis Bay. With Jason and Hugo as your hosts, you’re guaranteed the attention to detail that this type of establishment commands. On point.
Cosy and homely yet still respected in its opulence. Relaxed yet revered for its sense of sovereignty. From the outside to every detail within, it is beautiful.
A touch of class along with an extensive full English and continental breakfast every day. There’s little more that can be desired of a guesthouse with this stature. It ticks all the boxes. Welcome to Walvis Bay.

Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp | Damaraland
21 Aug 2024 - 22 Aug 2024
Against and among the granite boulders, Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp has prime location for visiting the highlights of the area. From here you can easily explore the heart of Damaraland, the sights of Twyfelfontein and track desert-adapted elephants.
Within walking distance of the Damara Living Museum, Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp is a 10-minute drive from the Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings, Burnt Mountain and Organ Pipes. Situated in the Huab River Valley, there’s a chance the elephants could stroll past your tent at any moment or at the least, you won’t have to venture very far to find them.
Location is key and in that category Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp is a winner. It’s been a long day's drive from any direction to get here, so once you’ve arrived, it’s great knowing you won’t have to spend much time in the car to explore the area. Less time on the road means more time for adventure and to laze at the glistening pool with a drink in hand. Of equal importance when on holiday.
The eco-friendly camp has both standard and premium tents. The standard tents are just that, they are small and basic but tasteful and charming. The premium tents are more luxurious, both in the decor and the space. You have some added extras, a bigger room, a bigger bathroom, comfortable inside seating and a small fridge.
The main lodge area is rather lavish and quite ornate, shared by all guests for meals and to relax. There is a second more relaxed 'chill' area too and two swimming pools, one at each. Add the view and you’ll be delighted to call this home for the next few nights. Two-night stays allow you to book a spectacular guided nature drive in an open safari vehicle.
Jumbled sandstone hills, platinum-blonde savannahs and olive-green shrublands make this landscape of incredible scale, colour and silence - so much silence - a marvel. See the many wildlife species that thrive here and learn how humans and wildlife including elephant, lion, rhino, antelope varieties and smaller predators have adapted to life in a land so hot and dry that it becomes ever more a wonder.

Villa Vista Guesthouse | Windhoek
25 Aug 2024 - 26 Aug 2024
One of many modern guesthouses in Windhoek, the Villa Vista stands out for its personal service, great location, comfortable rooms and of course that vista.
Unlike many of the boutiquey guesthouses in Namibia’s capital, Villa Vista is not a renovated house but purpose-built from the ground up. That means, no matter which room you get, it’s a decent size; it means the glorious view is celebrated from a wonderful rooftop terrace and the pool in the centre is an attractive focal point.
Pitching at the corporate end of the market, Villa Vista is plush, straight-edged and imminently practical. The rooms are large and well-equipped (the beds are especially comfortable) for a rejuvenating rest after a long flight or at the end of an invigorating safari tour.
Centrally located, Villa Vista is great for business and leisure travellers with the city a few minutes’ away, Joe’s famous Beerhouse almost next door and several other restaurants nearby. You’ll need some basic directions to get there from the airport but, as capital cities go, driving in Windhoek is a breeze.
The Villa Vista is owner-managed and Koos and Fransette infuse this place with a genuine warmth and true Namibian hospitality.
