Moremi lies on the Eastern Extremity of the Okavango Delta, Habitats range from wide open floodplains,marshes,lagoons, papyrus fringed channels, vast stands f reeds, mixed woodland and open grassland. As a result of the extremely variable habitat the diversity of both wildlife and birdlife is excellent. Moremi is amongst the best game reserves in Africa for viewing the endangered African wild dog. It is home to the resident herd of several buffalo whose range cover the territories of many prides of lion which may be seen flanking the ever moving herds. Breeding herds of elephant move between their browsing areas and the Mopane Forrests and the fresh water of the Okavango.

The “Manchira” channel is located at the easternmost point of the Khwai region. Your days of exploration will follow this waterway, on the wandering tracks between the different regions of water and forests that make this region one of the most popular sites in the Okavango Delta. Without forgetting the popular “Hippo pool”, where you observe the bathing of the hippos and elephants residing in this region. The western forest part of this region is mainly inhabited by elephant herds. The river is home to an exceptional number of hippos and crocodiles. Leopard, serval, lion, wild dogs are common predators along this route. General wildlife includes giraffe, zebra, sassabi, lechwe and less common resident sable antelope. Shongwe Lookout is an exciting new build, 23-bedroom lodge in the suburbs of Victoria Falls. It is located roughly 1 kilometre from Victoria Falls town, and 2 kilometres from the Falls.
Our rooms are targeted at the more discerning guest, with quality fittings, elegant decor, and verdant garden surrounds.
Our unique offering is a 2-platform lookout tower with views of the Zambezi River, and Falls' spray. This tower is open both for early morning coffees, from 5am, and for evening drinks, until 9pm. The tower includes an intercom system and a pulley to allow guests to order drinks and nibbles without having to miss a moment of the magical view.
Shongwe Lookout also has an onsite bar and restaurant, the latter offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. An onsite pool and boma area complete the experience.
