The Norman Carr Cottage is situated on the southern lake shore of Lake Malawi, in the beautiful sheltered bay of Namakoma just 15km south of Monkey Bay. A gentle and restful place where we promise you a memorable Malawian experience. You will be left with fond memories of this charming African country where time stands still, the pace is gentle and the scenery is stunning.

Being the lake cottage of the late Norman Carr, famous for his walking safaris in Zambia, we have a lot of history surrounding us.

Take a trip on Alfie, our historical boat that was build for Sir Alfred Beit in Glasgo, for usd on lake Nyasa.

We offer daily trips to a close by marine reserve where you can do snorkeling. One can witness the majestic flight of the fish eagles on these trips as we feed them, a birding photographers dream come true.

Visit the local market or wait till after breakfast for the guys to come show their curios, before you go out on the boat.

Visit Mua Mission, about 80km from us, perfect for a day trip. Meat Father Claude, he has been teaching his arts to the locals for more than 50 years.
