Dhumukwa Camp | Mana Pools National Park

22 Aug 2018 - 27 Aug 2018

Mana Pools is the only game park in Zimbabwe to be granted World Heritage Status and is the stage for one of Africa’s greatest natural spectacles. Mana is a classic theatre of the wild, attracting hordes of animals especially during the long, hot African summer. Mana is a timeless legacy of wilderness and a unique ecosystem. Mana Pools deserves to survive unspoilt and unthreatened as it has for millennia.

Mana Pools is part of a 300 million year old rift valley supporting a large variety of mammals and over 400 bird species. Covering over 200 square kilometres this National Park has been set aside to be kept as wild as possible. All our camps are taken down as we depart to ensure minimal damage to the ecosystem.

Wildlife is abundant in the valley especially during from June through to late October. The sanctuary is home to large concentrations of elephant, and buffalo, kudu, impala, zebra, eland and other antelope species provide the lion, leopard, painted hunting dog and hyena easy pickings.

Along the river bank, where one of the greatest varieties of birdlife flourishes, hippos share their river with the silent crocodile. Distant mountains, the formidable escarpment wall of the valley, reed edged backwaters and sandbanks flank the slow-moving Zambezi. The richness of the trees and plants is the vital link in Mana’s chain of continuity.

Participate in game drives, canoeing, walking – or just relax and take in the beauty of this wilderness. Walking in the company of one of Zimbabwe’s leading Pro Guides is a unique up-close-and-personal experience. Game drives may take you away from the river, to investigate the different inland habitats and the diverse occupants that make up the ecology of the area. Walking to explore and learn about the area, with your Professional Guide is the best way to experience the incredible diversity of animals, insects and flora at Mana Pools. Your guide is fully licensed and carries a weapon and basic first aid kit at all times. Mana Pools can provide some amazing experiences, if you are looking for close encounters with game.
