Join a 2-hour morning drive with a dedicated tour guide. After a leisurely drive guests will arrive at one of the red dunes. The red sand of the dunes invites all children to play. Desert Camp | Sossusvlei
Surrounded by endless desert topography and surrounding mountainous terrain, Desert Camp, is perfectly located in the Namib Naukluft Park, just 5km from the Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon. The modern air-conditioned units are built with affordability in mind and are spacious and furnished comfortably. With barbeque facilities and a patio with a kitchenette, the camp is ideal if you prefer to do your cooking. The camp has a fully stocked bar and allows orders for fresh food supplies from reception daily, or meals can be taken at the sister Sossusvlei Lodge restaurant just a 2-minute drive away. The activities range from Nature Drives, an excursion of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei where you can climb some of the oldest dunes in the world, a visit to Sesriem Canyon, and Helicopter Flights over the dunes and Deadvlei.

The 28 individual self-catering accommodation units at Desert Camp are uniquely designed to blend in perfectly with the natural surrounding environment.
Each spacious air-conditioned bedroom feature twin beds, space for suitcases and a fold-out sleeper couch where two small children under the age of 12 years can be accommodated free of charge when sharing the room with two full paying adults. Please enquire with your booking to ensure preparations are made as required.
The en-suite bathroom comprises of wash basin with large mirror and vanity space, shelves and hanging space, an electronic safe as well as a separate toilet and spacious walk in shower.
On the outside the patio features a fitted kitchenette with wash up area, under counter fridge and 2-plate hob that is enclosed with a zip-up canvas cover. The barbeque facility and wooden bench for seating is ideally situated to enjoy the incredible views over the Desert landscapes and surrounding Naukluft mountains. Utility boxes with most utensils needed for self-catering are available at reception and fresh food supplies can be ordered daily.

An early start from Sossusvlei Lodge to enter the Namib-Naukluft Park at sunrise, while the temperature is still mild and when the dune contrasts are at their best. You will travel in one of our all-terrain URI Gameviewer vehicles, custom-built in Namibia for the Lodge, with your own specially trained guide who will share all his knowledge of the area, animals, plant life and much more with you.
Regular stops are made on the spectacular ±60 kilometre drive through the dune corridor down to the Vlei to gain information or take in the vistas. At Dune 45, we make a stop to view the the world's most photographed dune. Further along, a gradual 2,6 kilometer round-trip guided walk up to Dead Vlei is a must for the healthy visitors. The more energetic have the opportunity to climb to the upper ridge of Big Daddy Dune, one of the highest dunes in this area! We spend time exploring Sossusvlei before returning to the Lodge approximately 5½ hours later in time for lunch.

Depart from Sossusvlei Lodge in the late afternoon on a leisurely drive on the Lodge's private reserve. Watch the shadows lengthen as your guide takes you out to a panoramic location where sundowner drinks will be served as you relax and watch the spectacular sunset. The inner tranquillity that a desert sunset imparts while you sit amongst nature is really something special...

"Up, up and away" as you sail silently over the reddish dune sea of the Namib. Add an exhilarating dimension to your visit to the desert.
The duration of the excursion is approximately 3½ hours. The Hot Air Balloon flight itself takes about one hour and ends with an exclusive Champagne Breakfast at the landing spot in scenic nature.
Special group rates apply for groups of min 24 pax, max 110 pax.
Due to the desert temperatures this activity is offered in the mornings only. Guests are required to depart to the Namib Sky ballooning base at least an ½ hour before sunrise with their own vehicles. The balloon rises as the sun rises. The first light hour of the day is known to be the most spectacular, especially in the desert with the rich contrast of colour and shape on the towering sand dunes of the Sossusvlei Area, on the vast desert plains and surrounding mountain ranges.

Desert Air have a well-maintained 6-seater Cessna 210 light aircraft permanently based on the Sossusvlei Lodge property along with an experienced pilot who also doubles as a trained "aerial" desert guide.
A number of routes are available on request, including:
A 40 minute trip to Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon will provide you with wonderful aerial photographs of the Vlei and Canyon.
A longer hour trip to the forbidden coast (Sperrgebiet) and the area known as Lange Wand, which is the coastal area of the Namib Desert, will provide you incredible views where a 'sea of desert dunes' meet the Atlantic ocean.
An hour and a half trip over the Sossusvlei area will include Conception Bay, a seal colony, shipwreaks and even old diamond miners camps.

Guests at Desert Camp who wish to not cook for themselves, can make use of our nearby Sossusvlei Lodge Restaurant which is about 5 minutes travel down the road towards the Namib Naukluft Park's entrance.
Sossusvlei Lodge is well known for sensational cuisine and many guests have praised especially the delectable buffet dinner experience.
The al fresco terrace offers magnificent views over Elim Dune and of the floodlit waterhole where you can watch the passing parade of oryx, springbok, jackal, ground squirrel and hyena, whilst enjoying exquisite food and wine.
Start your day with a scrumptious buffet breakfast with an extensive selection of all the favourite delectable breakfast foods and treats. For lunch the chef will spoil you with the mouth-watering meal of the day accompanied by a variety of salads and side dishes. An a 'la carte menu is available at the Sossusvlei Lodge Bar from 14h30 to 16h00. and some more lounge furniture.
Accommodation for our guests is provided in modern dome-style tents. The tents provide comfortable beds consisting of a stretcher, a fully made-up bedroll, and a pillow. We provide ablutions and ensure privacy as well as comfort in the wildest of locations.
The adventure starts as a sundowner drive in the late afternoon. After the sundowner, the clients will be taken to the camp which has been set up prior to their arrival. The guests can enjoy a refreshing drink while sitting around the fireplace. Later in the evening, a warm supper will be prepared on the fire. After dinner, the guests can enjoy sitting around the fire, listening to the sounds of the wild, and gazing at the stars above. As dawn breaks, our day begins with hot filter coffee/tea and rusks around the fire. The guests will then be transferred back to the guesthouse in time for a scrumptious breakfast. The rest of the day is at leisure. Enjoy a splash into the pool in the lush garden or take a drive out to visit the famous "White Lady" rock engravings. Required fitness level - the terrain requires proper footwear, some balance, and hard work. The Brandberg is no easy climb and is taxing on legs and body.

After an early breakfast, we set out completely cross-country through dry riverbeds due west towards the Brandberg mountain. We explore parts of the Ugab River in search of desert-adapted elephants and go for a quick swim in one of the permanent pools on the foot of the mountain.
Includes a picnic lunch, water, and soft drinks.
We depart on a scenic nature drive in a 4x4 safari vehicle to a beautiful sunset spot. Here we relax and enjoy the breathtaking views, some sundowner drinks and snacks.

A morning or afternoon 3-4 hour game drive departing from the guesthouse towards the Brandberg Mountain. We explore the sandy riverbed in search of the elusive desert-adapted elephants.
The drive includes drinking water.
Our Brandberg hiking experiences are strictly subject to availability and need to be booked prior
to arrival (at least 4 weeks in advance).
Not recommendable from November to March due to the heat.

Required Fitness Level:
The terrain requires proper footwear, some balance, and hard work. The Brandberg is no easy climb and is taxing on the legs and body.

The people at the village currently take care of 15 orphaned children.
The funds generated by these tours are being used to take care of them and the families in the
village responsible for taking care of the orphans.

Waterberg Guest Farm | Waterberg Plateau National Park
Located on the slope of the elevated Waterberg Plateau in northern-central Namibia lies Waterberg Guest Farm - an authentic, productive Namibian cattle and guest farm, with a distinguished ambience. The undisturbed bush bungalows are dispersed along the slope of Klein Waterberg to ensure a feeling of solitude and privacy. Breakfast is included, and the property also has a restaurant, internet access, swimming pool, Lapa, and deck overlooking a waterhole where various animal species are spotted. While the bungalows themselves are constructed with only natural materials, the interiors are decorated in contemporary African design and offer all the modern amenities to ensure your comfort.
All rooms have toilets, showers and basins (one of the rooms also has an additional bathtub). All rooms have their own private entrance leading out to a verandah.
Maxi offers ample space for a travelling family of 4, there is an inside and outside shower and an outside tub for the hot summer nights. The bungalow is fitted with an extra large double bed and a sofa bed for the kids. Terrace with a breathtaking view.
Our new bush bungalows are a unique and modern design and boast of space and breathtaking views from a terrace with seating. The room offers a king size bed with an option for an extra bed for a child sharing.
