Cruising the Beagle Channel
We’ll set sail from Ushuaia’s commercial pier and cruise around Alicia Island aboard our exclusive boat, the Akawaia. There, we’ll watch for seabirds like the steamer duck, sheldgoose, kelp gull, seagull, and snowy sheathbill. Near the Mary Ann and Les Eclaireurs Island we’ll observe South American sea lions and fur seals, as well as both imperial and rock shags. In addition to seeing the Les Eclaireurs lighthouse, we’ll learn about the 1930 shipwreck of the SS Monte Cervantes.
Lapataia Expedition
The expedition departs from the End of the World train station and reaches the National Park, where we’ll visit Ensenada Bay with its stunning view of the Andes - and where the southernmost post office in the world is located! We’ll continue on toward Lake Roca, surrounded by lush forests and mountains, before hiking the trails around Lapataia Bay. Then, we will discover and observe local flora and fauna as we sail along the Beagle Channel on our exclusive ship, the Akawaia, toward Ushuaia Bay. This experience will surround you with the flavors and colors of the End of the World that evoke the natural beauty of the Andean landscape.
Penguin Colony
Set sail from Ushuaia’s pier on our exclusive ship, the Akawaia, onward to Alicia Island. There, we’ll focus on birdwatching: the steamer duck, sheldgoose, kelp gull and seagulls, and the snowy sheathbill. We’ll visit the Les Eclaireurs lighthouse before sailing on to Martillo Island where we’ll observe a colony of Magellanic penguins - and perhaps some Gentoo penguins as well!

As the sun sets behind the Fuegian mountains, it invites us to welcome nightfall from a privileged spot. A boat cruise on the Beagle Channel, alongside an exquisite selection of exclusive teas, sets the scene for an evening of relaxation. Dive into a variety of Patagonian delights, from classic flavors to exciting sweet and savory treats that promise a true feast for the senses.
Cruise to Puerto Williams
In the morning, we’ll depart from Ushuaia on our exclusive ship the Akawaia and cruise the Beagle Channel toward Puerto Williams in Chile, considered the southernmost town in the world. Puerto Williams offers incredible walking and hiking trails, the Anthropological Museum, the Cape Horn Biosphere Reserve, the Omora Ethnobotanical Park - and much more.
Hike to Laguna Esmeralda
We’ll depart from the hotel and head north toward Laguna Esmeralda. After enjoying the Andean forest views, we’ll make our way through broad valley views mountains, peat bogs, rivers, and local flora and fauna. Once we arrive at the lagoon, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch overlooking the landscape: mountains, glaciers, and forest, not to mention the water’s unique color. The duration of the hike itself is around an hour and a half each way, with a 200-meter incline.
Tierra del Fuego National Park is located 12 kilometers from Ushuaia; it’s where the subantarctic forest, the Beagle Channel, and the Andes mountain range come together.
National Highway No. 3 allows us to cover the 21 kilometers that separate us from the park’s entrance to the famous Lapataia Bay that attracts visitors from all over the world, not only for its beauty but also as the end of the Pan-American Highway, which begins all the way up in Alaska. The winding roads offer infinite End of the World views with myriad colors, lakes, and mountains.
Tierra del Fuego National Park Walking Trails - Full Day
We’ll head toward the National Park, discovering the geography, flora, and fauna in-depth. We’ll take various 45-minute hikes - with some help from our vehicles along the way - that showcase the beauty and wonder of the area. During this activity, we will see the Pipo River Waterfall, Ensenada Bay, Lake Acigami, the Interpretation Center, the Island trail, the Coastal trail (approx. three hours), Laguna Verde, and Las Lengas, finishing up at Lapataia Bay.
Susana Summit Adventure
Close to the hotel lies Mount Susana; its special location allows us to take in views of the Beagle Channel and Ushuaia in all their glory. We’ll walk from the bay near the hotel toward the mountain, hiking up to 625 meters above sea level. After reaching the panoramic lookout point, we’ll enjoy a delicious tasting of local dishes prepared by our chef.
Martial Glacier Adventure
Just a few minutes from the hotel by car, we’ll reach the base of Martial Glacier and begin a unique adventure, hiking along the trails toward the foothills of the Andes. Along the way, we’ll soak up the most incredible views of the city at the end of the world. Finally, we’ll enjoy an exclusive picnic to reward ourselves for a job well done.
Hike to the Lagunas Gemelas
Leaving the hotel, we’ll head north toward the Garibaldi Pass, where the access point for the Lagunas Gemelas trail lies. From there we’ll embark upon a two-hour hike around the lagoons and reach the lookout points at Lakes Cami and Escondido. Afterward, we’ll head to the Villa Marina estancia to enjoy a delicious barbecue featuring Fuegian lamb.
Lakes, Snowmobiling, and Lunch
If you’re eager to have some fun and play in the snow, the snowmobile, cross-country skiing, and dogsled activities are perfect alternatives. Heading north to the Lakes Cami and Escondido, we’ll stop at the Carbajal Valley lookout point. The Garibaldi Pass lookout point is another can’t-miss stop that lets you take in the natural beauty that the island provides. At Villa Marina, you can enjoy classic Fuegian lamb as you contemplate the frozen-over Laguna Verde.
Vinciguerra Glacier Adventure
Considered by both local mountaineers and experts alike the best hike that Tierra del Fuego has to offer. On the ascent, we’ll encounter a variety of surroundings, including peat bogs, rivers, creeks, waterfalls, and the stunningly beautiful Laguna de los Témpanos, located at 725 meters above sea level at the base of the glacier. We’ll make our way there to explore its caves, crevasses, and moraines. Your efforts will be handsomely rewarded by the overall experience and the power of the landscape.
Nocturnal Adventure Expedition
This activity is a complete sensorial experience. Snowmobiles will pick us up in the evening and take us on a four-kilometer ride through the lenga woods. We’ll then try out some snowshoes and hike through the darkness on a completely unique trail. From there, we head to Cerro Castor in the Lasifashaj Valley, reaching the hotel’s Ski Point for a delicious dinner, some wine, and time to relive the experience. Afterwards, we’ll return to the hotel.
Subantarctic Birdwatching
The marine coasts, mountains, rivers, and wetlands that comprise the Tierra del Fuego National Park’s landscapes are ideal for birdwatching. We’ll get an early start to appreciate the area’s most spectacular species in their natural habitats, such as the Andean condor, the Magellanic woodpecker, the Fuegian steamer duck, and the great grebe.
Fuegian Cuisine Cooking Demonstration
This is a class where the chefs will share their recipes and secrets to Fuegian cuisine’s most characteristic ingredients: locally-caught centolla (king crab) from the Beagle Channel and merluza negra (Patagonian toothfish) caught fresh from the icy southern Atlantic Ocean. After the class, we’ll taste everything during a dinner at the hotel’s Reinamora restaurant.
The City at the End of the World
The ideal activity for the day of your arrival to Tierra del Fuego. We’ll visit panoramic lookout points and traditional neighborhoods, and our hotel guide will share information and recommendations about the best places to shop and eat.

These rooms have a double window in the corner which allows the immensity of the scenery to subtly become part of the room. It is the highest category and there are only two of these rooms in the hotel. Average surface is 515 square feet.
