Sabuk is remote and beautiful…an exclusive wilderness haven on the edge of the Northern Laikipia Plateau. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River, which cascades beneath the lodge all year round. Sabuk, which remains a family home, offers wilderness and stunning views of the Laikipia plains towards Mount Kenya, as well as the Karisa Hills and Mathews Mountains in the North.
The lodge consists of 4 cottages, as well as one family room and one family house. All the rooms are open-fronted with stunning views of the river below and valley opposite, and have en-suite bathrooms which meld into the natural rock face. There is also Eagle Cottage which is separate and more exclusive to the other rooms, consisting one one double bed, 1 twin and a private plunge pool and dining area.
Sabuk is renowned for it's camel safaris, which can be half a day with a picnic, or a longer safari with the fly-camp. Day and night game drives as well as great bush walks with local Samburu and Laikipiak guides - Sabuk is well known for their friendly and memorable guides! Bush meals are also an option as part of guest's guided walks or game drives. Seasonally, river fishing, tubing and rock jumping are also available activities.

One of the smaller camps in the Mara, Offbeat Mara Camp has just seven tents offering a truly private, traditional safari experience within the Mara North Conservancy (MNC). The MNC founded in January 2009, is an area of about 74,000 acres and is incredibly rich in wildlife and has one of the lowest densities of tourist visitors in the greater Mara ecosystem, enabling guests to enjoy game viewing in privacy. Offbeat Mara Camp is one of the founding members of the Conservancy. Tucked away in this prime wildlife area, Offbeat Mara Camp provides guests with superb game viewing - lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo are all seen regularly in the stunning valley that surrounds the camp. Most importantly, the camp is far away from other lodges and camps. We aim to provide guests with great game viewing 'away from the masses'.

The place you return to again and again“. This is what Kipalo means in the language of the Taitas, the tribe living in the region. No wonder – the view from the slopes of the Mbulia Hills over the vast plains of Tsavo West and the Ngulia Hills to the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro is simply breathtaking. If you are looking for seclusion, privacy and unforgettable encounters with Kenya‘s unique wildlife, then Kipalo Hills is the place for you. The camp, which nestles perfectly against the rocky hillside, was established in Mbulia Conservancy which borders Tsavo West National Park, and which covers almost 36,000 acres.
A waterhole right next to the camp attracts elephants, buffalos and occasionally even leopards and the very rare wild dogs. The swimming pool provides refreshment between activities, and the surrounding rocks form an atmospheric backdrop for your sundowner. The safari tents, luxury suite and private villa, which blend beautifully into the grounds and unspoilt nature surrounding the main open mess, also offer unparalleled views of the spectacular scenery and impenetrable wilderness across the Mbulia Conservancy plains.
The area offers access to Tsavo East and excursions to the Taita and Chyulu Hills.
